Padua has published its 2027/28 calendar, so the deadlines above follow it; the programme calls are due in November 2026, and we track every call on your shortlist.

How tuition works at the University of Padua

At the University of Padua, tuition follows family income (ISEE) and the degree group. Non-EU students whose family lives abroad pay a fixed fee instead, and study can be tuition-free for eligible students who win a DSU scholarship.

Tuition follows family income (ISEE). Families with income abroad can file an ISEE or request the flat fee for their country, and DSU scholarship winners are exempt from tuition. Up to 100 merit exemptions for international students on English-taught degrees waive the university contribution.

Group A covers the Schools of Economics and Political Science, Law, and Human and Social Sciences and Cultural Heritage; Group B covers Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Medicine, Psychology and Sciences, plus Primary Education. Anyone who files no ISEE pays the top band for the group.

Non-EU citizens whose family does not live in Italy pay a fixed contribution that income does not change, with a lower amount for low-HDI countries, a list without India. An ISEE parificato, issued only by a CAF with a university agreement, lowers only the regional tax. Source: UniPD fees call 2026/27, English version.

For students from India: the fixed fee for the degree group applies, as an ISEE parificato lowers only the regional tax. A merit exemption for English-taught degrees or a DSU scholarship removes the university contribution. We prepare the documents and the family file for the university's partner CAF with you, and we sit with you while the scholarship application is submitted from your own Uniweb account.

Padua also runs its own Padua International Excellence Scholarships: for 2026/27, up to 76 awards of €8,000 (₹8.8 lakh) a year plus a fee waiver, for international students on English-taught degrees, chosen on merit from the apply.unipd.it applications (programme page). The 2027/28 calls are due in November 2026, and we check them for the programmes on your shortlist.

Padua also has a school of excellence, the Galilean School of Higher Education, which admits about 30 students a year and covers their board and lodging (Scuola Galileiana). Its own admission call sets who can compete, and we check it for the students we work with.

Two national schemes are open to international students too: our guides to the MAECI scholarship and Invest Your Talent in Italy explain who can apply.

What does it cost to live in Padua?

For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Padua or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.

Reality check

  • Places are limited on English-taught degrees. Information Engineering had 100 places for non-EU applicants living abroad in 2026/27, and English-taught Medicine had 25 at the Venice seat and 15 on MedTech.
  • Deadlines come early. Limited-places degrees take non-EU applications only from 7 January to 7 March 2027, and English certificates are due by 31 July 2027.
  • Documents decide the scholarship. Non-EU students with family abroad pay a fixed contribution, the DSU scholarship needs an ISEE parificato from the university's partner CAF, and non-EU first-year students compete for at most 7% of the funds.
  • Italian still matters. Daily life, internships and Italian-taught courses need it; Italian-taught degrees ask for B2, and the master's in Linguistics for C1.

What we handle: the shortlist, the fee route, the income documents, the programme applications, the Universitaly pre-enrolment, the visa file and the DSU application, prepared with you. The university decides admission, the university's student services office decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.

How does ApplyAZ handle applications to the University of Padua?

For eligible students, we take care of the whole application to the University of Padua. We shortlist programmes against your profile and their entry tests, prepare the documents and the family's income papers, file each programme application, complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, handle the visa file and prepare the DSU scholarship application (University of Padua) with you.

We focus on Italian public universities and consider selected exceptions when they fit the student’s needs. We have no private-university tie-ups and receive no university commissions. Decisions remain with the relevant authorities: the university decides admission, the university's student services office decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.

Frequently asked questions

Is the University of Padua a public university?

Yes. The University of Padua is a state university on the Ministry of University and Research's list of 61 public universities, founded in 1222 and based in Padua, Veneto. It had 72,543 students in 2024/25, 6,436 of them international, and its fees follow family income for EU students.

How does tuition work at the University of Padua?

At the University of Padua, tuition follows family income (ISEE) and the degree group, and an ISEE up to €30,000 falls in the no-tax area for EU citizens. Non-EU students whose family lives abroad pay a fixed fee for their group. Study can be tuition-free for eligible students who win a DSU scholarship.

Can study at the University of Padua be tuition-free for eligible students?

Yes. Winners of the DSU scholarship awarded by the University of Padua get a total or partial fee exemption, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students. The 2026/27 family limits are an ISEE of €26,306.25 and an ISPE of €43,125.94, and the grant for a student living away from home reaches €8,246 (₹9.1 lakh) a year.

How does tuition work for a student from India at the University of Padua?

A first-year student from India pays the fixed fee for the degree group, as an ISEE parificato lowers only the regional tax. A merit exemption for English-taught degrees or a DSU scholarship removes the university contribution, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students. We work out the route with the family.

We list 69 English-taught programmes at the University of Padua for the next intake: 6 bachelor's, 61 master's and 2 single-cycle degrees in Medicine and Surgery. Which entry tests does the University of Padua use?

The University of Padua uses CISIA's CEnT-S for limited-places English-taught bachelor's such as Information Engineering, CISIA's online English PSY test for Psychological Science, and the IMAT for Medicine and Surgery in English.
