The Italy consultant with nothing to sell
ApplyAZ is an Italy-based consultancy that works only with public universities, and we take no commission from any university. Our only client is you, so every recommendation answers one question: where do you have the best real chance, with a DSU scholarship path?
No private universities. No commissions. Ever.
Many agents are paid by private colleges, so those colleges rise to the top of your list. ApplyAZ has no tie-ups with private universities and earns nothing from any university. Every programme we suggest is at a public university, where fees follow your family income, not an agent’s cut.
Selective, so we can go all in
We don’t accept every student. First we check whether a public university in Italy is realistic for your profile. If it isn’t, we say so and explain what would need to change. Being selective is how every student we take on gets our full attention.
From first click to first week in Italy
Check your eligibility for free. Talk to an Italy expert. Get your personal Italy roadmap. Join ApplyAZ only if the plan makes sense. Then we handle it A to Z: shortlisting, CV and SOP, applications, DSU scholarship, student visa and your arrival in Italy.
The two-minute eligibility check
Tell us what you studied, your grades, your English and what you’d love to study next. In under two minutes we tell you honestly whether an Italian public university fits your profile. It’s free, with no pressure to continue. Check your eligibility.
Your Italy roadmap, yours to keep
After your consultation you get a tailored roadmap: realistic universities, admission strategy, DSU pathway, visa steps and how each step should be done, from where you are today to your arrival in Italy. Some students use it to apply on their own. Most ask ApplyAZ to handle it with them.
ApplyAZ fees, and when you pay
It starts with a 30-minute Zoom consultation with one of our Italy experts; the fee depends on your country and degree, and it is refundable if you don’t find it useful. Then you pay step by step, as results arrive: a small starting fee, our admission fee once you’re admitted, our DSU fee when your scholarship is submitted, and our visa fee once your visa is secured. Universities never pay us.
We get paid when you move forward
Our fees are tied to your results. Didn’t find your consultation useful? We refund it. No admission? We refund your starting fee. Visa refused because of a mistake on our side? We refund our visa fee. Terms apply, and you see them before you begin. Your success comes first; our fee follows.
Help, a message away
Your ApplyAZ team is a message away. Ask about your profile, add or remove programmes from your shortlist, or check the latest status of every application, scholarship and visa step, whenever you need to.
20 to 30 programmes, not one
One application is a gamble. We read your academic background and preferences, then shortlist 20 to 30 English-taught programmes at public universities, each with a DSU scholarship path. More strong options mean better odds of an offer that fits your plans and your budget.
A CV and SOP for every programme
Generic applications get generic results. We write your CV in a European format and tailor your statement of purpose to each programme on your shortlist, then prepare any programme-specific documents. Every file is checked before it goes out.
Applications and deadlines, handled
Every Italian university has its own portal, requirements and dates. We submit each application, track every deadline and complete your pre-enrolment on Universitaly, so nothing is missed. You follow the progress live in your ApplyAZ dashboard.
Tuition at Italian public universities
Public universities in Italy set tuition by family income and assets, not by a fixed price tag. Many international students pay from a few hundred to a few thousand euros a year. Students with a low documented family income can pay nothing at all, especially with a DSU scholarship.
Zero euro tuition in Italy, honestly
Zero tuition is real, but it isn’t automatic. It depends on your family’s income documents and usually on winning a regional DSU scholarship, which also waives tuition. We check your likely fee band early, so you plan with real numbers, not a slogan.
The DSU scholarship, explained
DSU is Italy’s regional right-to-study scholarship. It is need-based and open to international students. Depending on the region and your family income, it can include a grant of up to about €8,000 a year, a tuition waiver, and sometimes housing or meals. You keep it by passing enough credits. Read the DSU guide.
Getting DSU right
DSU calls have strict rules and deadlines, and family income documents from India usually need translation and legalisation. We check your eligibility, prepare the documents and file the application. That’s how Ismit won DSU with a master’s degree already in hand.
No one can promise admission, DSU or a visa
Universities decide admissions, regions decide DSU and the embassy decides visas. A consultant who promises any of them is overselling. What we promise is expert, honest work on every step, and a straight answer about your chances before you pay.
The Italy student visa, step by step
After admission, you apply for a type D study visa through the Italian consulate’s visa centre in India. We prepare your file: admission letter, Universitaly summary, proof of funds, accommodation and health insurance. Then we book your appointment and prepare you for the interview.
How long the visa takes
Italian study visas are usually decided within a few weeks of the appointment, but slots fill fast in summer. We start your visa file as soon as you’re admitted and book the earliest available appointment, so you arrive before classes begin.
The documents you’ll need
Passport, transcripts, degree or school certificates, and proof of English (IELTS, TOEFL or a medium-of-instruction letter where accepted). Some programmes also ask for a portfolio, a recommendation letter or an entrance test score. For DSU, your family’s income and asset documents. You get one checklist, and we verify every file.
When to start
Most English-taught degrees in Italy start in September. Applications often open between October and April, and DSU calls close over the summer. Starting 9 to 12 months before your intake gives you the widest choice of programmes and time for scholarship paperwork.
Your first week in Italy
Within 8 working days of arriving, you must apply for your residence permit, the permesso di soggiorno. We guide you through it, along with your tax code (codice fiscale), housing, health insurance and settling into your city, so you can focus on classes.
Master’s, bachelor’s and MBBS in Italy
We guide students into English-taught master’s, bachelor’s and medicine degrees at public universities. Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) is a six-year degree with an entrance test and limited places for non-EU students, so we assess your readiness first. MBBS in Italy guide.
Living costs in Italy
Most students spend around €700 to €1,100 a month on rent, food and transport. Milan and Rome cost more; cities like Pavia, Ancona or Viterbo cost less. Your roadmap includes a realistic budget for the cities on your shortlist.
Working while you study
International students in Italy can work part-time: up to 20 hours a week and 1,040 hours a year on a student permit. It helps with living costs, but build your budget without counting on it, especially in your first semester.
After you graduate
Graduates can stay in Italy for up to 12 months to look for work or start a business, then switch to a work permit once hired. A degree from an Italian public university is recognised across the European Union.
Doing it yourself, or with ApplyAZ
Organised, confident students can apply on their own through university portals and Universitaly. We’re worth it when you want 20 to 30 applications done properly, a DSU application without mistakes, a visa file that holds up, and one team with you until you land.
How to choose a study abroad consultant
Ask four questions. Who pays you: me, or universities? Do you work with private colleges? Will you tell me if I’m not eligible? Will I see my plan and your fee in writing before I pay? At ApplyAZ the answers are: you, no, yes and yes.
For parents
Parents are welcome in the consultation and see the same roadmap and fees in writing. Before your family commits, you’ll know which public universities we’ll apply to, what DSU could cover, what the visa needs and what life in Italy costs.
Gaps, second degrees and other special cases
A study gap, a second master’s or an older degree doesn’t automatically rule you out. We check your case against the actual university and DSU rules before we give an answer, and we’re straight with you about your chances.
