About the programme
Aerospace Engineering is a two-year master's degree in class LM-20-R (Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering), taught entirely in English in Padua. It is run by the Department of Industrial Engineering within the School of Engineering, is worth 120 ECTS and has open admission with requirements.
The degree gives specialised preparation in aerodynamics, aerospace structures, astrodynamics, propulsion and aerospace systems, alongside wider industrial engineering subjects. Teaching mixes theory with applied, research-oriented work and targets management, design, research and production roles in the aerospace industry. It suits graduates in aerospace or mechanical engineering who want to work on aircraft or spacecraft.
What you will study
Everyone takes Aerospace Structures, Manufacturing Technologies of Aerospace Materials and Advanced Aerodynamics, then follows one of two curricula. Space deals with mission profiles, technical specifications, system design, construction and testing; Aeronautics deals with the management, maintenance and conversion of aircraft. Units listed on the admissions portal include:
- Space Propulsion and Astrodynamics (Space)
- Spacecraft Attitude Dynamics and Control (Space)
- Space Instrumentation and Spacecraft Thermal Control (Space)
- Aircraft Propulsion and Atmospheric Flight Dynamics (Aeronautics)
- Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity (Aeronautics)
- Aircraft Systems, and Measurements and Flight Instrumentation (Aeronautics)
- Aerospace Structures and Advanced Aerodynamics (both curricula)
How the programme is taught
Electives let you add hands-on laboratory work: the list includes the Laboratory of Computational Fluid Dynamics, the Aerospace Structures Laboratory, the Space Propulsion Laboratory, the Laboratory of Aircraft Propulsion and the Space Systems Laboratory. Other electives cover space robotic systems, global positioning and navigation, space optics instrumentation, composite materials, and modelling and control of electric drives.
Career paths
Aerospace engineers trained in Padua work in research and development, design, integration and maintenance of aerospace systems, in Italy and abroad. Typical employers named by the university are:
- International aircraft manufacturing companies
- Component supplier companies
- National and international aerospace agencies
- Research centres
Fees and scholarships
As an engineering degree, Aerospace Engineering is in fee Group B. Under the 2026/27 fee call, non-EU students whose household lives abroad pay a fixed €2,990 a year, or €996.66 if they are citizens of a country on the ministry's list of particularly poor countries; an ISEE parificato lowers only the regional tax. Veneto regional scholarship winners are exempt, which means zero euro tuition for eligible students, and international applicants living abroad are considered for merit fee waivers. See the fees page.
How to apply from outside the EU
Apply on apply.unipd.it with your transcript, degree certificate, CV, motivation letter and English certificate, and pay the €60 fee; legalised documents are not needed at this stage. For 2027/28, non-EU applicants living abroad can use Call One (15 September to 15 November 2026) or Call Two (1 December 2026 to 1 March 2027).
Once admitted, you pay a €208 admission fee to accept the place, complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D study visa. By 31 August 2027 your degree and transcript must be legalised, apostilled or covered by a CIMEA statement of verification. Classes start on 1 October 2027.
How ApplyAZ helps
If this programme fits your goals, ApplyAZ can include it in a shortlist of 20 to 30 English-taught programmes at Italian public universities. We write your CV and a tailored statement of purpose, submit your applications and Universitaly pre-enrolment, file your DSU scholarship application and prepare your visa file, with a named person on each stage. The university decides admission, the region decides the scholarship and the consulate decides the visa. See how ApplyAZ works or check your eligibility.
