The Master in Chemistry (class LM-54-R) at the University of Padua offers Complex and Data Driven Chemistry, a two-year, 120 ECTS study track taught entirely in English that links chemistry with machine learning and chemometrics. About the programme
Chemistry (Chimica) is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-54-R (Chemical Sciences), run by the Department of Chemical Sciences within the School of Science in Padua, with open admission for applicants who meet the requirements. The degree also has an Italian-taught version, but its Complex and Data Driven Chemistry study track is held completely in English and has its own entry on the admissions portal.
The track introduces the core ideas of data-driven chemistry: statistical learning, chemometrics and the design of experiments. It applies them to collecting chemical data, synthesising materials and catalysts, designing synthetic strategies and modelling complex chemical systems. It suits chemistry graduates who want to add coding and data analysis to their laboratory skills.

The second year is built around Business Management, a Research Project and the final thesis. In the department's 2024 plan for the track, the internship project and the final research project together were worth 50 of the 120 credits, so much of the second year is spent doing research.

Chemistry is a School of Science degree, so it sits in fee Group B. For 2026/27, non-EU students whose family is resident abroad pay a fixed €2,990 a year, falling to €996.66 for citizens of countries on the ministry's list of particularly poor countries. The ISEE parificato only reduces the regional tax. How to apply from outside the EU
Choose the Complex and Data Driven Chemistry entry on apply.unipd.it, since the Italian version of the degree has a separate one. Upload your transcript, degree certificate, CV, motivation letter and English certificate and pay the €60 fee; legalised documents are not needed to apply. For 2027/28, applicants living outside the EU can use Call One, 15 September to 15 November 2026, or Call Two, 1 December 2026 to 1 March 2027.
After admission you pay €208 to confirm your place, complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D study visa. By 31 August 2027 your qualifications must be legalised, apostilled or covered by a CIMEA statement of verification. Teaching starts on 1 October 2027.
