Source: our own programme listings, counted on 28 September 2026; the counts match the programme list further down this page, and our full programme list covers every public university. Degrees with an English-taught curriculum are included. The 2027/28 calls are not out yet, so each programme page adds its deadline when the call is published, and we track every call on your shortlist.
How much does the University of Trento cost in 2025/26?
The University of Trento costs from €146 (₹16,000) a year at the lowest ISEE band to €2,384 (₹2.6 lakh) at the top band for a bachelor's degree in 2025/26. These are the fees for EU and equivalent students; non-EU students living abroad pay by admission score, and study can be tuition-free for eligible students.
| Who pays what, 2025/26 | Yearly total | How it is set |
|---|
| EU and equivalent students, ISEE up to €26,000 | €146 (₹16,000) | €146 to €366 (₹16,000 to ₹40,000) a year, rising with the ISEE; students with an Opera Universitaria scholarship pay only the €16 stamp duty |
| ISEE €26,000.01 to €86,999.99 | By formula | Rises with the ISEE from €367 to €2,384 (₹2.6 lakh) for bachelor's and five-year single-cycle degrees, and to €3,345 (₹3.7 lakh) for master's and six-year single-cycle degrees |
| ISEE above €87,000 or no ISEE, bachelor's | €2,384 (₹2.6 lakh) | The maximum for bachelor's and five-year single-cycle degrees; the page does not say whether the provincial tax is included |
| ISEE above €87,000 or no ISEE, master's | €3,345 (₹3.7 lakh) | The maximum for master's and six-year single-cycle degrees |
| Non-EU students living abroad, first year (2026/27 calls) | By admission score: no tuition to €4,500 (₹4.9 lakh) | Engineering and ICT: 90 to 100 no tuition, 70 to 89 €1,000 (₹1.1 lakh), 60 to 69 €2,000 (₹2.2 lakh), 50 to 59 €4,500 (₹4.9 lakh). Humanities, law and Italian-taught economics: the same top band, then 80 to 89 €1,000, 70 to 79 €2,000, 60 to 69 €3,000 (₹3.3 lakh); English-taught Economics and Management: €4,500 at 60 to 69 |
| Non-EU students living abroad, later years (engineering and ICT call) | €6,000 (₹6.6 lakh) | The maximum from the second year, set by results in each year |
The ISEE amounts are for EU and equivalent students, and the page does not say whether the provincial tax and stamp duty are included. Non-EU students living abroad stay in the merit system for the whole course, even if they later move to Italy.
Source: UniTrento fee amounts for EU and related countries, 2025/26 and the regulation on fees and grants for non-EU students. Rupees use the FBIL reference rate of 21 September 2026, €1 = ₹109.90.
Non-EU citizens living outside Italy pay under a separate merit system set by their admission score, not by family income, so an ISEE parificato does not change their fee. They cannot move to the ISEE system later, even after moving to Italy. Source: UniTrento fee systems page.
Worked example: A first-year student from India living abroad pays by admission score, not family income: on the 2026/27 engineering and ICT call, 90 to 100 means no tuition, 70 to 89 means €1,000 (₹1.1 lakh) and 50 to 59 means €4,500 (₹4.9 lakh). An ISEE parificato does not lower this fee, so the score is what counts. We work out the fee each call sets and prepare the application with you, since Opera Universitaria's DSU scholarship is closed to non-EU students living abroad.

Winners are also exempt from the university's yearly contribution, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students.

Trento's own merit awards for non-EU students living abroad come with the admission calls: a score of 90 to 100 means no tuition, and top-ranked candidates with at least 70 out of 100 may get a partial grant towards living costs (engineering and ICT call 2026/27). Places and amounts differ by call, so we check each call on your shortlist.
Two national schemes are open to international students too: our guides to the MAECI scholarship and Invest Your Talent in Italy explain who can apply.
What does it cost to live in Trento?
For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Trento or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.

Reality check
- Places for non-EU applicants are few. For 2026/27, CCEE had 25 places and English-taught Economics and Management 5, both in the first session only.
- The admission score sets the fee. Non-EU students living abroad pay from no tuition at 90 to 100 up to €4,500 (₹4.9 lakh) a year, depending on the call and the score.
- The DSU grant is closed to non-EU students living abroad. Opera Universitaria excludes non-EU citizens not resident in Italy at admission, so the merit awards in each call matter more for them.
- Italian still matters. Most bachelor's degrees are taught in Italian and ask for B2; we list only 2 English-taught bachelor's at Trento.
What we handle: the shortlist, the fee route, the income documents, the programme applications, the Universitaly pre-enrolment, the visa file and any scholarship application you qualify for. The university decides admission, Opera Universitaria decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.
