How tuition works at the University of Milan

Tuition follows family income (ISEE), and an ISEE up to €30,000 falls in the no-tax area. Families with income abroad pay by country group instead, and India is in Group A, the lowest non-EU rate. DSU scholarship winners are exempt from tuition, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students.

Students who file no ISEE certificate, and do not qualify for a country group, pay the maximum for their area.

Which entry tests and language levels does the University of Milan ask for?

The University of Milan uses TOLC by CISIA, CEnT-S by CISIA, English Test Humanities and IMAT, depending on the programme. English-taught degrees ask for B2 English, and Italian-taught degrees for Italian. The test for each programme is in the table above and in its call.

Do graduates of the University of Milan find work?

Which DSU scholarship covers the University of Milan?

Milan students apply for the regional DSU scholarship through the University of Milan. For 2026/27 the family ISEE limit is €26,887.93 (₹29.5 lakh), and the top grant for a student living away from home is €8,248 (₹9.1 lakh) a year. Winners are also exempt from the university's yearly contribution, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students.

The University of Milan's own European Futures Scholarships for 2026/27, 30 awards of €10,000 (₹11.0 lakh), are open only to students from EU countries (2026/27 call). Its 1,055 University Scholarships of €1,800 (₹2.0 lakh) are for students whose family income is above the DSU limit. What does it cost to live in Milan?

For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Milan or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.

The University of Milan has 15 places for non-EU applicants living abroad on its English-taught Medicine and Surgery course in 2026/27, filled through the IMAT held on 29 September 2026. Anonymous scores come out on 8 October and the national ranking on 26 October; Milan's own non-EU list ranks applicants only against others who chose Milan.
