Biology of Human and Environmental Health is a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor (class L-13-R) taught in English by the Universities of Padua and Bologna, with the third year in Padua or Bologna. Biology of Human and Environmental Health is a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor's degree in class L-13-R (biological sciences), taught in English. The degree takes an advanced, multidisciplinary approach to life science research and to the interaction between human health and the environment. You study the biological basis of diseases and how human activity and environmental change affect human wellbeing, combining theory with research methods. It suits school leavers who want a route into biomedical or environmental research. Students of Padua's Medicine and Surgery, MedTech degree can also earn this bachelor alongside their medical degree.
What you will study
The first two years cover the core of biology, chemistry, physics and data analysis. In the third year you choose one of two curricula: biological bases of human diseases, taught in Padua, or environmental influences on human health, taught in Bologna. Units include:

Career paths
The university says graduates can continue to a master's degree, in Italy or abroad, or work as biomedical or environmental research assistants who apply standardised experimental methods, analyse data, present results and write reports. The admissions portal also mentions the route towards registration as a professional biologist.
Fees and scholarships
As a School of Science degree, it is in fee Group B. The 2026/27 fee call sets a fixed, non-recalculable €2,990 a year for non-EU students whose household lives outside Italy, or €996.66 for citizens of countries on the ministry's list of particularly poor countries. The ISEE parificato only affects the regional tax. The regional scholarship, run by the University of Padua for Veneto, exempts winners from the fee, which means zero euro tuition for eligible students. Merit scholarships and full fee waivers for English-taught degrees need no separate application.
How to apply from outside the EU
Places are ranked on the CISIA CEnT-S test: register and pay €55 with CISIA, and remember you can sit it only once per macro-period. Non-EU candidates living abroad submit their application on apply.unipd.it between 7 January and 7 March 2027 (23:59 Central European Time). The university's €60 fee is waived if you apply only to CEnT-S bachelors.
After admission you pay the €208 deposit, complete Universitaly pre-enrolment and request a type D study visa. Have your diploma legalised, apostilled or verified by CIMEA by 31 July. Studies start on 1 October 2027.
