Information Engineering is a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor (class L-8-R) taught entirely in English by the University of Padua in Padua, covering control systems, electronics, telecommunications and computer science. Places are limited and admission uses the CEnT-S test. Non-EU students with family abroad pay a fixed €2,990 a year (2026/27), waived for regional scholarship winners.

About the programme
Information Engineering is a three-year, 180 ECTS bachelor's degree in class L-8-R (information engineering), delivered entirely in English by the School of Engineering in Padua, with the Department of Information Engineering (DEI). Enrolment is limited: for 2027/28 there are 100 places for non-EU candidates living outside Italy.
The degree gives transversal training across the main areas of information engineering, namely automation, electronics, computer science and telecommunications, on top of a solid preparation in mathematics and physics. It stresses a multidisciplinary, methodological approach to analysing problems in each of these areas. It suits school leavers who enjoy maths and want a broad engineering base before choosing a specialisation at master's level.
What you will study
The first two years build the mathematical, physical and computing base. The third year adds compulsory units in control systems, electronics and telecommunications, plus electives from three lists, one of which is made up of laboratories and applied units. The 2027/28 plan includes:
- Calculus 1 and 2, Linear Algebra and Probability Theory
- Physics 1 and 2
- Foundations of Computer Science and Data Structures and Algorithms
- Digital Systems, Electric Circuit, and Signals and Systems
- Introduction to Machine Learning
- Control Systems, Electronics and Telecommunications
- Electives such as Algorithms for Engineering, Internet, Digital Signal Processing, and Microcontrollers and DSP
- Laboratories in computer engineering, internet and multimedia, signals and measurement, control systems or microelectronics
Career paths
The university says the degree gives access to every master's degree in the ICT area, in Italy and abroad, and to jobs in all areas of information and communication technology. It names:

Fees and scholarships
Engineering degrees sit in fee Group B. For 2026/27, a non-EU student whose household lives abroad pays a fixed €2,990 a year, or €996.66 as a citizen of a country on the ministry's list of particularly poor countries; an ISEE parificato only lowers the regional tax. Winners of the regional scholarship, run by the University of Padua for Veneto, are exempt, which means zero euro tuition for eligible students. How to apply from outside the EU
The 100 places go through a ranking list based on the CISIA CEnT-S test. You register and pay €55 on the CISIA website, and you can sit the test only once per macro-period. Non-EU candidates living outside Italy apply on apply.unipd.it from 7 January to 7 March 2027; if you apply only to CEnT-S bachelors, you do not pay the university's €60 application fee.
Once admitted, you pay a €208 non-refundable deposit, complete Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D study visa. Your school diploma must be legalised, apostilled or verified by CIMEA by 31 July, and classes start on 1 October 2027.
