- The ISEE parificato is the income and assets statement Italian DSU bodies use for families living outside Italy. The chain has five steps (certificates, legalisation, translation, calculation, submission), with deadlines from 5 Aug 2026 to 31 Mar 2027 by body.
- India is not on the Ministry's list of particularly poor countries, so the simplified route never applies.
- The income year differs by body: 2025 or 2024.
- ApplyAZ, an Italy-based consultancy that works only with public universities, helps eligible students by preparing their ISEE parificato and DSU application.

Check your eligibilityHow the ISEE parificato works, step by step
For a family living in India, the DSU scholarship turns on proving the family's income and assets with official papers from home. The result is the ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy). Nearly every 2026/27 bando (official call) builds the same five-step chain in its own way, and we handle each step for eligible students.
- Family certificates. The authorities of the country where the family earns its income issue certificates of family composition, income for the call's year, property and financial assets, plus a certificate of no income, no property or no savings wherever that applies (EDISU Piemonte art. 30 c. 3; ER.GO Sez. I art. 2.3.1; DSU Toscana Appendice B). Self-declarations and affidavits are refused in most calls, for example at ER.GO (Sez. I art. 2.3) and DSU Toscana (art. 8.3.2.6). For eligible students we set out the exact list the body's call requires and check every certificate with the family before it moves on.
- Legalisation. Each certificate is then legalised. Seven calls accept an apostille (the Ministry of External Affairs certification) in place of legalisation by the Italian embassy or consulate, and EDISU Piemonte refuses any legalisation dated before 2026 (art. 30 c. 3.1). DiSCo Lazio requires documents issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities (art. 12.2), and ERSU Cagliari legalisation by them (art. 12.2.2). We organise the route that the body's call names.
- Italian translation. Every certificate needs an Italian translation, and some calls say who makes it: a sworn translation by the Italian mission or by an accredited translator whose signature is itself legalised (ADiSU Umbria art. 29 c. 9), a translation that is legalised in turn (DSU Toscana art. 8.3.2.2), or one by the Italian diplomatic authorities (ADISURC Campania art. 4.5.2). EDISU Piemonte wants it attached to the original (art. 30 c. 3.1). We organise the translations to match each call's wording.
- Calculation. In eight calls a CAF (tax assistance centre) calculates the ISEE parificato, and Politecnico di Milano, ALiSEO Liguria, the University of Padua, DiSCo Lazio and ERSU Catania accept only their own partner or designated CAF. At EDISU Piemonte only the CAAF working inside its offices calculate it, after EDISU approves the documents (art. 6 c. 5). ER.GO, DSU Toscana, ADiSU Umbria, ERDIS Marche, ADSU Chieti-Pescara and ADISU Puglia assess the documents themselves. We prepare the file for the CAF or for the body's own review. Where the rule is that the student is identified in person, as at a DiSCo-agreed CAF (art. 13), we organise the appointment and prepare the student for it.
- Submission by the body's deadline. The originals or the result then reach the body: by post or courier (EDISU Piemonte, DSU Toscana, ERDIS Marche, ADSU Chieti-Pescara, and ADISU Puglia after an online upload), by upload or PEC from the student's own account (ALiSEO Liguria, ER.GO, ADiSU Umbria, ADISURC Campania, ERSU Palermo, ERSU Catania, ERSU Cagliari), or straight from the CAF (Politecnico di Milano, University of Padua, DiSCo Lazio). Dates run from 5 August 2026 to 31 March 2027. We organise the tracked shipment of originals, and we sit with the student while each upload is made from their own account.
Family documents and deadlines at all 16 DSU bodies
For each of the 16 bodies, the table shows who turns the family's papers into an income figure, which legalisation the call names, and when the family documents are due. The University of Milan and University of Padua application deadlines in this table were 30 September 2026 and have now passed. Later dates can concern documents or other obligations for applications made in time; doctoral and special categories have separate rules. Check the relevant call before treating any later date as a new application window.
| Body page | How family income is assessed | Deadline for family documents |
|---|---|---|
| EDISU Piemonte | EDISU's own CAAF calculate it after EDISU approves apostilled, translated originals sent by post; outside certificates refused (art. 6 c. 5, art. 30) | Arrival by 4 Sep 2026 (grant and bed) or 25 Sep (grant only); final rankings only if by 28 Oct or 12 Nov (art. 31 c. 1.4) |
| University of Milan | No documents at application for countries like India, which get income band 1 automatically; later checks possible (art. 5.4, 13.1 a) | None at application for countries like India. Annex 1 countries: 30 Sep 2026, or 7 Aug 2026 with housing (art. 5.4) |
| Politecnico di Milano | Only Polimi's partner CAF, which sends the ISEEU and ISPEU parificato to Polimi; the call sets no legalisation rule (art. 3.2) | 5 Aug 2026, delivered to the partner CAF, on pain of inadmissibility (art. 3.2) |
| ALiSEO Liguria | Only a CAF partnered with ALiSEO issues the ISEEUP 2026, from the documents that CAF asks for; no legalisation rule in the call (art. 11.1.2) | 19 Oct 2026 to avoid suspension; 31 Dec 2026 at the latest (art. 11.1.2 c. 4; art. 25.2 lett. hh) |

| DSU Toscana | DSU Toscana assesses originals itself, no CAF: issued in 2026, legalised or apostilled, with a legalised Italian translation (art. 7.2.1.3; art. 8.3.2) | 7 Sep 2026, postmark of departure, by registered post or express courier (art. 15.2.6 B and C) |
| ADiSU Umbria | ADiSU calculates the indicator itself from uploaded documents, legalised or apostilled, with a sworn Italian translation; no CAF (art. 29 c. 1, c. 9) | 2 Sep 2026, 12:00 to keep a bed from 1 Oct; 30 Oct 2026, 12:00 at the latest, or exclusion (art. 29 c. 2, 7) |
| ERDIS Marche | ERDIS calculates the ISEE parificato itself from originals legalised or apostilled, with a certified translation; no CAF (art. 8.8; art. 11.2) | 28 Aug 2026 for the provisional ranking; 18 Sep 2026 for the definitive one; later additions within residual funds only (art. 8.8) |
| University of Padua | Only UniPD's partner CAF issues it, and UniPD collects it there; the CAF, not the call, sets the documents (art. 3 B) | 30 Sep 2026 to request it from the partner CAF; no separate date for family documents (art. 3 B) |
| DiSCo Lazio | A DiSCo-agreed CAF issues the ISEEUP from documents issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities, translated; any other CAF means exclusion (art. 12.2, 20) | ISEEUP signed at an agreed CAF by 10 Dec 2026, nothing accepted after (art. 12.2); application data fixed after 11 Aug 2026 (art. 14.2) |
| ADSU Chieti-Pescara | No CAF: originals legalised by the Italian embassy or apostilled, translated, go to ADSU, which converts them itself (art. 7) | 13 Nov 2026, by post or by hand in Chieti; 1 Sep 2026 for a residence bed (art. 7, 24) |

Check your eligibilityWhat is the ISEE parificato for students from countries like India?
The ISEE parificato is the income and assets statement Italian DSU bodies use for families living outside Italy. It is built from the family's home-country certificates and compared with each call's limits for the ISEE (the Italian family income indicator) and the ISPE (the assets indicator), in place of the ordinary ISEE that families living in Italy file.
The calls name it in different ways: ISEEUP at ALiSEO Liguria, DiSCo Lazio and ADISURC Campania, and ISEEU and ISPEU parificato at Politecnico di Milano and at ERSU Palermo, Catania and Cagliari. ER.GO and DSU Toscana do not use the term and assess the family's condition themselves (Sez. I art. 2.3 and 7; art. 7.2.1.3).
Where a call explains the method, the indicator is the family's income plus 20% of its assets, divided by an equivalence scale for the size of the family (ADiSU Umbria art. 29 c. 1; ERSU Cagliari art. 12.2.2). DSU Toscana, ADSU Chieti-Pescara, ADISU Puglia and ERSU Cagliari value buildings abroad at 500 EUR (about INR 55,000) per square metre (art. 8.4.1; art. 7; art. 10 c. 1; art. 12.2.2).
Which family documents do students from countries like India need?
Most calls ask for certificates from the home-country authorities on four points: who is in the family, the income of every adult member for the call's year, property with its floor area in square metres, and bank balances and other financial assets at 31 December. Where a member has none, a certificate stating so is needed.
- Some calls add each member's occupation and period worked in 2025 and any mortgage still owed (ER.GO Sez. I art. 2.3.1 lett. b, c and f; ADISU Puglia art. 10 c. 1), or any rent paid for the family home (DiSCo Lazio art. 12.2; ADSU Chieti-Pescara art. 7 n. 5; ADISURC Campania art. 4.5.2 d).
- A rental contract does not replace a certificate of no property (EDISU Piemonte art. 30 c. 3 point 4; ADiSU Umbria art. 29 c. 8 lett. e).
- EDISU Piemonte accepts a notarial affidavit only to show that a member has no bank assets (art. 30 c. 3 point 3), and ERDIS Marche exempts bank documents from legalisation but not from translation (art. 11.2 lett. d).
- Politecnico di Milano, ALiSEO Liguria and the University of Padua leave the document list to their partner CAF, and ERSU Palermo and ERSU Catania do not itemise it (art. 3.2; art. 11.1.2 c. 2; art. 3 B; art. 8).
- The University of Milan asks families from countries like India, which are not on its Annex 1, for no documents at application (art. 5.4).
For eligible students we draw up the list for the body concerned and go through every certificate with the family before it is legalised.
Do the family documents need an apostille for students from countries like India?
It depends on the body. Seven calls accept an apostille in place of legalisation by the Italian embassy or consulate: EDISU Piemonte, ER.GO, DSU Toscana, ADiSU Umbria, ERDIS Marche, ADSU Chieti-Pescara and ADISU Puglia. DiSCo Lazio and ERSU Cagliari name the Italian diplomatic authorities instead and do not mention the apostille.
- EDISU Piemonte lists India as an apostille country in its Annex F, and refuses translations and legalisations dated before 2026 (art. 30 c. 3.1).
- DiSCo Lazio wants documents issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities in the country of residence (art. 12.2); ERSU Cagliari wants them legalised by the Italian diplomatic authority competent for the area (art. 12.2.2).
- Politecnico di Milano, ALiSEO Liguria and the University of Padua set no rule in the call; the partner CAF does (art. 3.2; art. 11.1.2; art. 3 B).
- ERSU Palermo and ERSU Catania ask for legalisation where required or under current law, without naming the apostille (art. 8), and ADISURC Campania sets only a translation by the Italian diplomatic authorities (art. 4.5.2).
We prepare each family's documents to the exact wording of the body's call.
Which income year counts for the 2026/27 DSU scholarship?
It depends on the body. EDISU Piemonte, ER.GO, DSU Toscana, ADSU Chieti-Pescara and ADISU Puglia use 2025 income and assets at 31 December 2025. ERDIS Marche, DiSCo Lazio, ADISURC Campania and ERSU Cagliari use 2024 income and assets at 31 December 2024. ADiSU Umbria's call names both years.
ERSU Cagliari accepts 2025 documents only when the 2024 ones cannot be produced (art. 12.2.2). ADiSU Umbria's calculation rule names 2024, while its document list asks for 2025 (art. 29 c. 1 and c. 8), so we confirm the year with ADiSU for each family. Politecnico di Milano, ALiSEO Liguria, the University of Padua, ERSU Palermo and ERSU Catania do not state the year and leave it to the CAF that calculates the parificato (art. 3.2; art. 11.1.2; art. 5 a; art. 8). The University of Milan uses 2025 for Annex 1 families only (art. 5.4).
What happens if the ISEE parificato arrives late?
In most calls, family documents that miss the date mean exclusion from the ranking. A few calls soften the rule: ALiSEO Liguria suspends the student after 19 October 2026 and excludes only after 31 December 2026, and EDISU Piemonte lets late files enter its final rankings only, with no appeal.
- ADiSU Umbria: after 2 September 2026 the bed from 1 October is lost; after 30 October 2026 the student is excluded (art. 29 c. 2 and 7).
- ERDIS Marche: complete originals by 28 August 2026 for the provisional ranking and by 18 September 2026 for the definitive one; later additions reach only rankings funded from what is left (art. 8.8).
- ADISURC Campania: no money is paid until the ISEEUP arrives, and after 31 March 2027 the student is excluded (art. 4.5.2, art. 14).
- DiSCo Lazio: nothing is accepted after 10 December 2026, even in original (art. 12.2).
- ERSU Catania: art. 8 asks for the values by 22 September 2026 on pain of exclusion, while art. 16 allows the scholarship file to be regularised until 30 November 2026; the call gives both dates.
Our DSU deadlines page sets every date side by side.
Reality check
What we handle: for eligible students, the certificate list for the body concerned, the check of every certificate with the family, the apostille or legalisation route, the Italian translations, the file for the CAF or for the body's own review, the tracked shipment of originals, and each upload, made from the student's own account with us beside them. EDISU Piemonte, ER.GO and DSU Toscana state that no agency is needed or authorised, so we never file for the student there: we prepare and check everything first.
What we do not control: the home-country authorities issue the certificates, the CAF or the body calculates the ISEE parificato, and the region's DSU body decides whether the documents are valid, the ranking and the scholarship. We never promise a grant or a ranking position.
What costs students the most:
- An ISEE parificato from the wrong CAF. DiSCo Lazio excludes a student whose ISEEUP was signed at a CAF without its agreement (art. 12.2, art. 20), the University of Padua and ERSU Catania accept only their own partner or designated CAF (art. 3 B; art. 8), and EDISU Piemonte refuses any certificate from outside (art. 6 c. 5). The cost is exclusion.
- Self-declarations, or a parificato in place of the certificates. ER.GO refuses self-certifications of any kind (Sez. I art. 2.3), and ADISU Puglia says an ISEE parificato does not replace the legalised or apostilled originals (art. 10 c. 1). The cost is being ranked not eligible, or excluded.
- Late documents. Missing the body's date means exclusion from the ranking in most calls, for example at ADiSU Umbria after 30 October 2026 (art. 29 c. 7) and ADISURC Campania after 31 March 2027 (art. 14).

Check your eligibilityFrequently asked questions
Does the student's own income count for students from countries like India?
It can. EDISU Piemonte counts the 2025 income of every household member aged 18 or over, the applicant included (art. 30 c. 3 point 2). A student counts as independent of the family only with at least 9,000 EUR (about INR 9,90,000) of work income in each of two years and two years living apart from the family (art. 30 c. 3 point 5; ERSU Cagliari art. 2.1).
What if my parents are separated or a parent has died?
The family certificate then needs supporting papers, such as a divorce deed, a death certificate or a certificate that a parent cannot be traced (ER.GO Sez. I art. 2.3.1 lett. a; DSU Toscana Appendice B point 1; ADiSU Umbria art. 29 c. 8 lett. b). EDISU Piemonte accepts a plain copy of a death or divorce certificate in English (Annex E). We gather these with the family.
Does family property in India count for the DSU scholarship?
Yes. Buildings owned by any family member count, measured in square metres, and DSU Toscana, ADSU Chieti-Pescara, ADISU Puglia and ERSU Cagliari value them at 500 EUR (about INR 55,000) per square metre. ADISU Puglia counts buildings, not land (art. 10 c. 1), and EDISU Piemonte does not ask for agricultural land (art. 30 c. 3 point 4). With no property, a certificate of no ownership is needed.
Does the ISEE parificato need renewing every year?
The 2026/27 calls tie the family file to this year. EDISU Piemonte refuses translations and legalisations dated before 2026 (art. 30 c. 3.1), DSU Toscana wants documents issued in 2026 (art. 8.3.2.1), and ALiSEO Liguria accepts only an ISEEUP issued by a partner CAF in calendar year 2026 (art. 11.1.2). A file from an earlier year does not meet these rules.
Is there a DSU body that asks no family documents from countries like India?
Yes, the University of Milan. Families from countries that are not on its Annex 1, which include India, send no foreign documents at application and are assigned income band 1 automatically (art. 5.4). The University may still request the documents later to check the family's finances (art. 13.1 a), so we keep the file ready for eligible students.
Can students from countries like India count the DSU scholarship as funds for the visa?
Not while it is only an application. The Ministry of University and Research circular says that, without an explicit scholarship certificate, applying for or meeting the requirements of a regional DSU scholarship cannot be taken into account. The visa needs at least 10,179.85 EUR a year (about INR 11,19,666), checked against the family's income and assets.
Can ApplyAZ handle the ISEE parificato for me?
Yes, for eligible students we prepare the whole family file, from the certificate list to legalisation, translation, the CAF or body review and the shipment. Where a call requires the student's own account, the student submits with us beside them. Check your eligibility first. If you are eligible, you book a one to one consultation with one of our Italy experts, and from there we take care of everything.
