ADiSU Umbria Scholarship 2026/27: Amounts, Deadlines and Documents

Who can apply to ADiSU Umbria from countries like India?

Students from countries like India can apply if they enrol at an Umbrian institution covered by the bando (official call), such as the University of Perugia, and their family ISEE (the Italian family income indicator) is up to 28,339.88 EUR and ISPE (the family assets indicator) up to 61,608.48 EUR (Bando 2026/27, art. 3, c. 8; art. 27).

A student whose family lives abroad is always fuori sede (living away from home), whatever their address in Italy (art. 3, c. 9, lett. n). Enrolment is not needed to apply, but it must then be completed within the university's deadlines and without a late-payment penalty (art. 17, c. 1, 3 and 4).

How much is the ADiSU Umbria grant?

A fuori sede student in the lowest ISEE band gets 6,646.78 EUR (about INR 7,31,000) a year with a registered lease, or 4,846.78 EUR plus an ADiSU bed. Without a bed or a valid lease the cash is 4,019.32 EUR. Two meals a day come at no cost in every case (art. 35, c. 1 and 3).

Which documents does the family need from abroad for ADiSU Umbria?

The family needs certificates from public authorities in the home country: family composition, each adult's income, property with square metres and bank balances, each legalised or apostilled and translated into Italian under oath. They are uploaded by 30 Oct 2026, or by 2 Sep 2026 to keep a bed from 1 Oct (art. 29).

ADiSU does not use an ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy) from a CAF (tax assistance centre): it calculates the indicator itself from these documents (art. 29, c. 1). Affidavits and self-declarations are refused (art. 29, c. 13). The full list is below.

When are the ADiSU Umbria deadlines for 2026/27?

The application closed on 2 Sep 2026 at 12:00 Italian time (art. 13). Foreign family documents are accepted until 30 Oct 2026 at 12:00, but only uploads made by 2 Sep keep a bed from 1 Oct. A registered lease must be uploaded by 6 Nov 2026 at 12:00 (art. 29, c. 2; art. 36, c. 2).

How and when is the ADiSU Umbria grant paid?

First-years receive 25% of the cash by 31 Dec 2026. The other 75% is paid by 30 Jun 2027 if they reach the credit minimum by 30 Apr 2027, or by 30 Sep 2027 if they reach it by 10 Aug 2027. Payment goes only to an Italian IBAN in the student's name (art. 35, c. 7; art. 14).

Students whose family lives abroad must also record an Italian domicile in their ADiSU profile before each payment (art. 35, c. 9). If the IBAN or the income documents arrive after 31 Mar 2027, the first 25% is paid together with the balance (art. 35, c. 11). Master's first-years who enrol by 28 Feb 2027 receive their first 25% by 30 Apr 2027 (art. 35, c. 7, lett. d).

How many credits do you need to keep the ADiSU Umbria grant?

First-year Bachelor's, Master's and single-cycle students need 20 CFU (university credits) by 10 Aug 2027 to receive the 75% balance, and by 30 Nov 2027 at the latest to keep the grant. Some listed courses need 12 to 19 CFU, and first-years get no bonus credits (art. 21, c. 2 to 4; art. 26, c. 1).

What happens if you miss the ADiSU Umbria credits?

If 20 CFU arrive between 11 Aug and 30 Nov 2027, the student keeps the first 25% but loses the balance. Missing 30 Nov 2027 means the grant is revoked and the student repays the cash, the 140 EUR tax refund and the value of meals and bed used (art. 21, c. 3 and 4; art. 59, c. 3).

Beds used are charged at 180 EUR a month for a double room, 150 EUR for a triple and 220 EUR for a single; meals are charged by ISEE band (art. 59, c. 3). Unpaid sums go to legal recovery and exclusion from all ADiSU benefits (art. 59, c. 5 and 6). The rule does not apply to first-years who are parents of minor children (art. 21, c. 5).

Can you get an ADiSU Umbria residence bed?

Yes, for fuori sede students under 28 on the application deadline who asked for a bed by 2 Sep 2026. The bed comes at no cost from 1 Oct 2026, with the cash 1,800 EUR lower. First-years are ranked by ascending ISEE; 15% of remaining places go to non-EU first-years (art. 5; art. 9, c. 7; Allegato 2).

ADiSU has 1,462 beds from 1 Oct 2026 in Perugia, Terni, Narni and Assisi (art. 9, c. 1). An assigned bed is accepted by 5 Oct 2026 and taken by 8 Oct 2026 at 14:00 with a 250 EUR deposit; a later arrival, up to 30 Oct 2026, is possible only if requested at acceptance. A student who does not arrive loses the deposit and gets the reduced grant (art. 11, c. 5 and 6).

Without a bed, the higher lease amount needs a lease of at least 10 months in the student's name, registered with the Agenzia delle Entrate with the student's codice fiscale (Italian tax code) and uploaded by 6 Nov 2026 (art. 36). For eligible students we arrange the bed steps or the lease file.

Documents from abroad for the ADiSU Umbria 2026/27 call

ADiSU asks for certificates from the public authorities of the family's country, each legalised or apostilled and translated into Italian under oath. Scans are uploaded to the student's ADiSU account by 2 Sep 2026 to keep a bed from 1 Oct, and by 30 Oct 2026 at 12:00 at the latest (art. 29, c. 2 and 9).

• Family composition at the application date, with dates of birth and marital status of every member (art. 29, c. 8, lett. a)
• Only if one or no parent is in the family: separation or divorce rulings, a death certificate, a certificate of untraceability, or the guardian's appointment (art. 29, c. 8, lett. b)
• Total gross income from employment or pension of each adult for calendar year 2025, certified by the tax authority (art. 29, c. 8, lett. c)
• For adults with no income: proof of non-employment or homemaker status, unemployment, any unemployment benefit, or school or university enrolment (the last needs translation only) (art. 29, c. 8, lett. d)
• Real estate owned, or none, by every member at 31 Dec 2025, with the surface in square metres, from the land registry authority; a rental contract does not replace it (art. 29, c. 8, lett. e)
• Deposits, current accounts and savings books of every member at 31 Dec 2025 (art. 29, c. 8, lett. f)
• Legalisation by the Italian diplomatic authority or an Apostille on every document; documents without it are rejected even if translated (art. 29, c. 9, lett. a; c. 13)
• Sworn Italian translation by the Italian diplomatic or consular authority, or by an accredited translator whose report is itself apostilled or legalised (art. 29, c. 9, lett. b)
• Only for countries on the Ministry's low human development list: a certificate from the Italian mission that the family is not of notoriously high income (art. 29, c. 12)
• Where they go: uploaded in the ADiSU Area studenti, section for income and assets held abroad; the paper originals stay with the student and ADiSU may ask to see them (art. 29, c. 2, 4 and 5)

Frequently asked questions about ADiSU Umbria

I already have a Bachelor's degree. Can I get the ADiSU grant for another Bachelor's?

No. The call excludes students who already hold a degree of the same or a higher level (art. 16, c. 1, lett. f). A Bachelor's graduate can apply for a first Master's, but not for a second Bachelor's. We check this against each student's record before anything is filed.

Can I hold another scholarship together with the ADiSU Umbria grant?

Not a large public one. Students who hold another 2026/27 scholarship or similar benefit from a public administration worth more than 1,100 EUR, including Italian Foreign Ministry (MAE) grants, are not eligible, apart from grants under D.M. 755/2013 (art. 16, c. 1, lett. j).

Does ADiSU Umbria cover university tuition fees?

Tuition exemption follows each university's own fee rules: study can be tuition-free for eligible students where those rules provide it (art. 5, c. 1, lett. a, n. 3). Separately, ADiSU refunds the 140 EUR regional DSU tax to every student on the eligible list (art. 7, c. 1).

Do the same rules apply to Master's first-years in Perugia?

Mostly. Master's first-years also need 20 CFU by 10 Aug 2027 for the balance and by 30 Nov 2027 to keep the grant (art. 21, c. 2 to 4). Those who enrol by 28 Feb 2027 receive their first 25% by 30 Apr 2027 rather than 31 Dec 2026 (art. 35, c. 7, lett. d).

Is there a deposit for an ADiSU residence bed?

Yes, 250 EUR, paid at check-in, which must happen on a weekday by 8 Oct 2026 at 14:00 unless a later date up to 30 Oct 2026 was requested at acceptance. A student who does not arrive loses the deposit and gets the reduced grant, with no option to switch to a lease (art. 11, c. 5 and 6).

When do the meals and the bed start for a student whose family lives abroad?

Students enrolled by 15 Sep 2026 can use them from 1 Oct 2026 (art. 33, c. 5). For families abroad, services start within 15 working days of a complete document upload; until then the student pays 4.50 EUR per meal (art. 29, c. 3 and 6).

What does 'particularly poor countries' mean in the ADiSU call?

It refers to the Ministry list in D.M. 24 Feb 2026 n. 176, which the ADiSU call cites but does not print (art. 2, c. 22). Students from countries on that low human development list add a certificate from the Italian mission (art. 29, c. 12). We check each student's country against the decree.
