ALiSEO Liguria Scholarship 2026/27: Amounts, Deadlines and Documents

Who can apply for the ALiSEO scholarship from countries like India?

The ALiSEO bando (official call) is open to students from countries like India who enrol full time at the University of Genoa for a first degree at that level, if the family ISEE (the Italian family income indicator) is at most 28,339 EUR and ISPE (the family assets indicator) at most 61,608 EUR (Bando 2026/27, art. 2 and 11.2).

First-year Bachelor's and single-cycle applicants must not have turned 35 by the application deadline (art. 25.1, c. 1, lett. c)). Applying needs a completed University of Genoa pre-enrolment, the matricola number and a codice fiscale (Italian tax code), with personal data matching the University's records exactly (art. 6.1, c. 2; art. 6.2, c. 1).

Non-EU first-year Bachelor's and Master's students have their own rankings, ordered by ascending ISEE, with the younger student first on a tie (art. 16, c. 1). The call also covers other institutions in the region.

How much is the ALiSEO Liguria grant?

In the top band (ISEE up to 18,893 EUR), a fuori sede (living away from home) student with an ALiSEO bed gets 7,172 EUR gross (about INR 7,89,000). The bed (2,600 EUR) and meals (1,165 EUR) are withheld, so the cash part is 3,407 EUR (about INR 3,75,000) (art. 17.1, Tabella n. 8).

• Fuori sede with a bed: 7,172 EUR gross (3,407 EUR cash) up to ISEE 18,893 EUR; 5,307 EUR gross (1,542 EUR cash) from 18,893.01 to 28,339 EUR (art. 17.1, Tabella n. 8).
• Pendolare (commuter): 4,191 EUR or 2,724 EUR gross, leaving 3,026 EUR or 1,559 EUR in cash after the 1,165 EUR meal value, plus one meal a day (art. 17.1, Tabella n. 8).
• In sede (living at home): 2,891 EUR or 1,446 EUR net, plus one meal a day (art. 17.1, Tabella n. 8).
• Increases: +15% of the gross if ISEE is at most 14,169.50 EUR, or +20% for women on STEM courses; the two do not combine (art. 17.1, c. 3 and 4).

A student who does not request an ALiSEO bed, or gives one up, is paid as pendolare (art. 4, c. 2 and 5). Each region sets its own amounts: compare EDISU Piemonte and DSU Toscana.

Which documents does the family need from abroad for ALiSEO?

The family needs an ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy), which ALiSEO calls ISEEUP, issued in 2026 only by a CAF (tax assistance centre) partnered with ALiSEO. Without it by 19 October 2026 the student is suspended, and without it by 31 December 2026 the student is excluded (art. 11.1.2, c. 1 to 4).

The call does not list the family documents itself. It says only that the student must hold the documents the partner CAF asks for, and it states no income year, legalisation or translation rule (art. 11.1.2, c. 2). The call writes CAAF; the list of partner offices is on the ALiSEO website.

India is not on the list of particularly poor countries in Tabella n. 7, so families from countries like India need the full ISEEUP (art. 11.3.2).

When are the ALiSEO deadlines for 2026/27?

The online application ran from 15 June to 12:00 on 31 July 2026, and the deadline is peremptory (art. 7, Tabella n. 1). For students who applied, the ISEEUP is due by 19 October 2026 to avoid suspension and by 31 December 2026 at the latest (art. 11.1.2, c. 4).

• Provisional rankings: 30 September 2026, with 10 days to request a review (art. 23, Tabella n. 11; art. 23, c. 4).
• Final rankings: 29 October 2026 (art. 23, Tabella n. 11).
• Late applications: only for students transferring from another Italian university who applied to that region's DSU body, by 19 October 2026 (art. 7, c. 3).
• Enrolment at the University of Genoa: by 31 December 2026, or 10 March 2027 for first-year Master's applicants (art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. b) and c)).
• Rent contribution request: by 12:00 on 30 December 2026, only for students eligible for a bed but not housed (art. 22.1, c. 1).

How and when is the ALiSEO grant paid?

First-year students get no cash in 2026. ALiSEO pays the full net grant in one payment within the month after the University reports 20 registered credits, if they are earned by 10 August 2027; if reached by 30 November 2027, only half is paid (art. 24.2, c. 1 and 2).

Services start earlier: meals from the day after the final rankings, and beds for first-year newcomers from 6 October 2026 (art. 17.2, c. 3; Tabella n. 9). Students with a recognised disability are paid by 31 December 2026 without the credit requirement (art. 24.2, c. 3).

Payment goes only to an Italian or SEPA-area IBAN in the student's own or joint name; an account outside the SEPA area, as in countries like India, does not meet this rule (Bando 2026/27, art. 24, c. 1).

How many credits do you need to keep the ALiSEO grant?

First-year Bachelor's, single-cycle and Master's students need 20 CFU (university credits) registered by 10 August 2027 for the full net grant, or by 30 November 2027 for half of it (art. 8, c. 2). Bonus credits cannot be used for these first-year 20 credits (art. 9.1.1, c. 6, lett. b)).

Credits must count towards the degree and appear in the University's record by those dates; the student does not need to notify ALiSEO (art. 8, c. 7; art. 24.2, c. 2). What happens if you miss the ALiSEO credits?

With fewer than 20 credits on 30 November 2027, ALiSEO revokes the benefits and the student must pay back the bed and meals already used (art. 8, c. 4). Since first-year cash is paid only after 20 credits, the repayment covers services, with rooms charged at 260 to 330 EUR a month (art. 20.4; art. 25.2, c. 5).

Reaching 20 credits between 11 August and 30 November 2027 keeps the benefits but pays only half the net grant (art. 8, c. 2, lett. b)). In exceptional, documented cases, a deferral of up to three months can be requested from 1 to 15 December 2027, at the discretion of the Head of the DSU Sector (art. 8, c. 5); we prepare that request with the student.

Can you get an ALiSEO residence bed in Genoa?

A bed is possible if it was requested in the same application by 31 July 2026 (art. 18, c. 1). Fuori sede winners are housed at no cost; the bed is valued at 2,600 EUR and withheld from the gross grant (art. 17.1). Of first-year new places, 30% go to non-EU students, ranked by ascending ISEE (art. 19.4).

• First-year newcomers in Genoa and the other seats are called from 6 October 2026; missing the convocation date counts as giving up the place (art. 20.1, c. 2 and 3).
• Before moving in: a 250 EUR refundable deposit, a valid ID and the residence permit; a single room adds a 200 EUR flat fee (art. 20.1, c. 6; art. 20.2, c. 1).
• Suspended students, for example without the ISEEUP, cannot be housed, and eligible students get beds first (art. 17.3, c. 4; art. 19.5, c. 2).
• If no place is left, a rent contribution of up to 2,600 EUR, pro-rated over 10 months, needs a registered lease uploaded by 12:00 on 30 December 2026 (art. 22).
• Beds must be vacated by 30 July 2027 (art. 20.3).

Documents from abroad for the ALiSEO Liguria 2026/27 call

Under the ALiSEO call, the family's papers go to a CAF partnered with ALiSEO, the only office allowed to issue the ISEEUP 2026. The student then uploads the attestation in the online application: by 19 October 2026 to avoid suspension, and by 31 December 2026 at the latest (art. 11.1.2, c. 1 to 5).

• Documents required by the partner CAF: the call does not itemise them; it says only that the student must hold the "documentazione consolare" the partner CAFs ask for (art. 11.1.2, c. 2).
• ISEEUP 2026 attestation: issued by an ALiSEO partner CAF within calendar year 2026, by 31 December 2026, and uploaded in the online application (art. 11.1.2, c. 3 and 5).
• If part of the family lives in Italy: the ISEEUP plus an ordinary ISEE for the members living in Italy (art. 11.1.3, Tabella n. 5).
• Income year, legalisation, apostille and Italian translation: the call states none of these; the partner CAF's requirements apply (art. 11.1.2).
• Where they go: the papers go to the partner CAF, not to ALiSEO by post; only the ISEEUP attestation is uploaded (art. 11.1.2, c. 1 and 5).
• Particularly poor countries only: a certificate from the Italian representation replaces the ISEEUP; India is not on this list (art. 11.3.2, Tabella n. 7).

Frequently asked questions about ALiSEO Liguria

I already have a Bachelor's degree from abroad. Can I get ALiSEO for a second Bachelor's?

No. The call funds only the first degree at each level, and a foreign degree recognised as equivalent counts as already held (art. 2, c. 1; art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. h) and i)). A Master's after a Bachelor's is the first degree at the next level, so it can qualify if the other requirements are met.

Can I study part time and still get the ALiSEO grant?

No. The call covers full-time courses only, and part-time enrolment is a cause of exclusion or revocation (art. 2, c. 1; art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. bb)). The same applies to university 'master' programmes, which are different from a laurea magistrale, and to extracurricular courses (art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. cc)).

Does ALiSEO cover tuition at the University of Genoa?

Students who win the grant are exempt from University of Genoa contributions and from the regional DSU tax, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students (art. 1, c. 2, lett. b)). The exemption is tied to being a beneficiary, so it depends on the rankings and on not losing the benefits later.

Can the ALiSEO grant be paid into my bank account at home?

Only if the account has an Italian or SEPA-area IBAN in the student's own or joint name; a SEPA account outside Italy also needs its BIC or SWIFT code (art. 24, c. 1; art. 6.2, c. 1, lett. g)). Accounts outside the SEPA area, as in countries like India, do not meet this rule, and ALiSEO does not cover bank fees.

Can I hold ALiSEO together with a MAECI scholarship?

No. Other awards for the same purpose in the same year, including Italian Foreign Ministry (MAECI) scholarships for foreign students, cannot be combined with ALiSEO; the student may choose one (art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. v)). The 600 EUR a month international mobility increment is a separate benefit and is not open to first-year Bachelor's students (art. 14).

What if my ISEEUP is ready only after the provisional ranking?

Students without the ISEEUP by 19 October 2026 are ranked 'Sospeso' (suspended). They can fix this by 31 December 2026, but they cannot be housed while suspended, and eligible students get beds first (art. 11.1.2, c. 4; art. 17.3, c. 4; art. 19.5, c. 2). After 31 December 2026 the student is excluded (art. 25.2, c. 1, lett. hh)).

What does 'particularly poor countries' mean in the ALiSEO call?

It is the ministerial list in Tabella n. 7. Students from listed countries replace the ISEEUP with a certificate from the Italian representation stating that the family is not notoriously high income and high status, and their ISEE and ISPE count as 0 EUR (art. 11.3.2). India is not on the list, so families from countries like India need the full ISEEUP.
