ERSU Cagliari Scholarship 2026/27: Amounts, Deadlines and Documents

Who can apply to ERSU Cagliari from countries like India?

Students from countries like India can apply if they enrol in 2026/27 at an institution the bando (official call) covers, such as the University of Cagliari, and the family ISEE (the Italian family income indicator) is 28,339.88 EUR or less and the ISPE (the family assets indicator) 61,608.48 EUR or less (art. 1; art. 2).

Students whose family does not live in Italy count as fuori sede (living away from home) regardless of their Italian residence (art. 21.2). Holders of a degree of the same or higher level are excluded (art. 7.4).

First-year Master's applicants also need at least 150 CFU (university credits) recognised; the call does not say how this applies to a foreign Bachelor's (art. 3).

How much is the ERSU Cagliari grant in 2026/27?

A fuori sede student with ISEE up to 14,169.94 EUR receives 7,515.76 EUR a year in cash (about INR 8,27,000) with a private lease, or 5,292.25 EUR plus an ERSU bed, and 275 meals either way (art. 20). A pendolare (commuter) receives up to 4,452.48 EUR and an in sede (living at home) student 3,323.68 EUR (art. 20).

• Cash is paid in full up to ISEE 18,893.25 EUR (6,440.09 EUR, or 4,216.58 EUR with a bed) and reduced down to half above that: minimum 3,220.05 EUR, or 2,108.29 EUR with a bed (Bando 2026/27, art. 20).
• The bed is valued at 2,223.51 EUR for 11 months and the meals at 731.02 EUR; both are already taken off the cash shown (art. 20).
• Women in STEM courses and students on two courses get 20% instead of 15%, and a disability adds 20% or 40%; the call prints no amounts for these cases (art. 20).

Which documents does the family need from abroad for ERSU Cagliari?

The family needs documents from its home-country authorities showing family composition, 2024 household income and 2024 household assets, translated into Italian and legalised by the Italian diplomatic authority, plus the data sheet a CAF (tax assistance centre) issues when it calculates the ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy) (art. 12.2.2).

The call does not mention the apostille, only legalisation, and does not say whether the translation must be sworn. 2025 documents are accepted only when the 2024 ones cannot be produced (art. 12.2.2 a). The full list is in the documents section below.

When are the ERSU Cagliari deadlines for 2026/27?

Applications ran online from 15 Jul 2026 to 13:00 on 28 Aug 2026, the same deadline for the family documents and the CAF data sheet (art. 10; art. 12.2.2). Provisional rankings came out on 14 Sep 2026 and review requests closed at 13:00 on 23 Sep 2026 (art. 16.1).

How and when is the ERSU Cagliari grant paid?

Bachelor and single-cycle first-years receive 20% by 10 Nov 2026 if enrolled by 29 Oct and a PEC address and IBAN are entered by 6 Nov 2026, then 30% by 31 Dec 2026 (art. 18.2.1). Master's first-years receive 50% by 31 Dec 2026 with PEC and IBAN by 21 Nov 2026 (art. 18.2.1 B).

The PEC and the account must be in the student's own name (art. 11; art. 18.2.1). The November share of a fuori sede student is paid at the pendolare rate, and the December share at the fuori sede rate only if the lease was confirmed by 21 Nov 2026. Late PEC, IBAN or enrolment moves the first payment to April 2027.

The balance comes by 31 Jul 2027 or 31 Oct 2027, once 20 CFU are self-certified (art. 18.2.2).

How many credits do you need to keep the ERSU Cagliari grant?

First-years need 20 CFU by 10 Aug 2027 to receive the 50% balance, with no bonus credits allowed (art. 3; art. 18.2.2). The credits are self-certified in the portal by 30 Jun 2027 for payment by 31 Jul, or by 12 Oct 2027 for payment by 31 Oct 2027.

What happens if you miss the credits in Cagliari?

With 20 CFU after 10 Aug but by 30 Nov 2027, there is no balance; self-certifying by 10 Dec 2027 keeps the first instalment. With fewer than 20 CFU on 30 Nov 2027, the grant is revoked and the cash plus the value of the bed and meals must be repaid by 31 Dec 2028 (art. 3; art. 30).

Repayment can be spread over up to 10 monthly instalments on a reasoned request. For serious documented reasons, such as a family job loss, the death of a parent or illness, a 3-month extension can be requested by 10 Dec 2027 (art. 30.1); we prepare that request for eligible students when the reasons apply.

Can you get an ERSU Cagliari residence bed?

Yes. Fuori sede first-years request a bed in the same application, and a quarter of the 478 places go to first-years, in double rooms (art. 12.3; art. 26). The bed's value of 2,223.51 EUR is deducted from the cash, and a 165.00 EUR deposit is paid at check-in (art. 20; art. 28).

The student moves in within 5 working days of the date in the assignment notice, or loses the bed (art. 29.2). Giving up or losing the bed after 23 Sep 2026 does not restore the higher no-bed cash (art. 20; art. 26.2). Residences are in Cagliari, plus a partner residence in Olbia (art. 26).

Without an ERSU bed, fuori sede status needs a proper private lease of at least 10 months between 1 Sep 2026 and 30 Sep 2027, confirmed online from 10 Nov 2026 (art. 21.1; art. 21.2). The call treats students whose family lives abroad as fuori sede anyway, but does not say this waives the lease.

Documents from abroad for the ERSU Cagliari 2026/27 call

ERSU Cagliari assesses a family abroad on documents from its home-country authorities, translated into Italian and legalised by the Italian diplomatic authority, plus a CAF data sheet for the ISEE parificato. Both had to be uploaded to Carica documenti (the upload section) by 13:00 on 28 Aug 2026, or the student was excluded from the provisional rankings (art. 12.2.2).

• Family composition, from the competent home-country authority (art. 12.2.2 a).
• Amount and type of income received by the household in 2024, for each member (art. 12.2.2 a).
• Amount and type of assets owned by the household in 2024: 20% of assets held at 31 Dec 2024 count, and buildings count at 500.00 EUR per square metre (art. 12.2.2 a).
• 2025 income and assets instead, only if the 2024 documents cannot be produced (art. 12.2.2 a).
• Italian translation of every document, and legalisation by the Italian diplomatic authority competent for the area; the call does not mention the apostille (art. 12.2.2).
• The CAF data sheet (scheda di raccolta dei dati) issued when a CAF calculates the ISEEU/ISPEU parificato, at no cost at ERSU partner CAFs (art. 12.2.2 b).
• Where they go: uploaded to Carica documenti in the Portale dello Studente, and given to the CAF for the calculation; nothing is posted (art. 12.2.2).

Frequently asked questions about ERSU Cagliari

Do ERSU Cagliari winners pay university fees?

Winners and eligible students on the grant rankings are exempt from the regional DSU tax, the enrolment fee and university contributions, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students; stamp duty is still paid (art. 24). Fees are first paid under the university's rules, and ERSU sends the rankings to the university so the exemption can be applied.

Do I need a PEC address for the ERSU Cagliari grant?

Yes. A PEC (certified email) address and an IBAN, both in the student's own name, are needed for payment: by 6 Nov 2026 for the November tranche or 21 Nov 2026 for December. Missing them moves payment to April 2027 (art. 11; art. 18.2.1). We help eligible students set up both.

I am starting a Master's in Cagliari. Is anything different?

Can I give up my ERSU Cagliari bed later and get the higher cash amount?

Not after 13:00 on 23 Sep 2026. Giving up or losing the bed after that date leaves the cash at the reduced bed rate (art. 20; art. 26.2). Before it, a review request could drop the bed without cash consequences (art. 17.2). For the 2026/27 call that window has closed.

Does ERSU Cagliari accept an apostille instead of legalisation?

The call does not say. It asks for legalisation by the Italian diplomatic authority competent for the area, or, where that is hard in the home country, documents from that country's own offices in Italy legalised at the Prefettura, the state's provincial office (art. 12.2.2). Can I combine ERSU Cagliari with another scholarship?

Not with another grant for the same purpose. International mobility grants and pay for university student collaborations are the exceptions (art. 29.1). Holding a disallowed grant means losing the benefit and repaying the cash and the value of services used, so we review every other award with eligible students before they accept it.
