EDISU Piemonte Scholarship 2026/27: Amounts, Deadlines and Documents

Who can apply to EDISU Piemonte from countries like India?

Non-EU first-year students with a family abroad can apply if the family's ISEE (the Italian family income indicator), here an ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy), is at most 26,306.25 EUR (about INR 28,93,000) and the ISPE (the family assets indicator) at most 57,187.53 EUR (about INR 62,90,000) (Bando 2026/27, art. 6 c. 1).

The bando (official call) covers the University of Turin, Politecnico di Torino and the University of Eastern Piedmont, and also covers other institutions in the region (art. 1 c. 2). India does not appear in Annex D, the list of particularly poor countries, so the full family file applies (art. 30 c. 4).

Only the CAAF, a CAF (tax assistance centre) affiliated with EDISU and working inside its offices, calculates the ISEE parificato once EDISU has approved the documents. A certificate obtained anywhere else is refused (art. 6 c. 5).

How much is the EDISU Piemonte grant?

A full-time fuori sede (living away from home) student who is not housed by EDISU receives up to 8,096.78 EUR a year (about INR 8,91,000) with an ISEE up to 13,153.12 EUR, falling to 3,800.00 EUR in the highest ISEE band. All amounts are already net of a 150 EUR meal contribution (Bando 2026/27, art. 5 c. 1.3).

• Fuori sede with an EDISU bed: 5,396.78 EUR in cash plus an 11-month bed valued at 2,700.00 EUR (art. 5 c. 1.3 A).
• Pendolare (commuter): 4,669.32 EUR down to 1,945.36 EUR (art. 5 c. 1.2).
• In sede (living at home): 3,173.68 EUR down to 1,295.08 EUR (art. 5 c. 1.1).
• Female students on STEM courses, fuori sede: up to 8,455.33 EUR (about INR 9,30,000) with an ISEE up to 17,537.50 EUR (art. 5 c. 1.3).
• Part-time students, fuori sede: 1,409.00 EUR (art. 5 c. 2).
• A student whose family lives abroad keeps fuori sede status only with a paid-accommodation declaration: a registered lease, or a place in a collegio or similar, for at least 10 months between 1 September 2026 and 30 September 2027 in the course municipality or a bordering one, declared online from 21 October 2026. Without it, the pendolare amount is paid (art. 4, art. 8).

Which documents does the family need from abroad for EDISU Piemonte?

The call asks for original certificates of household composition, 2025 income, bank balances and property at 31 December 2025, with an attached official Italian translation and a 2026 apostille. They had to reach Turin by 4 September 2026 (grant and bed) or 25 September 2026 (grant only) (Bando 2026/27, art. 30 c. 3, art. 31 c. 1.4).

Late files still count for the final rankings only, with no appeal: by 28 October 2026 at 12:00 for first-year Bachelor's students enrolled by 31 October (9 November ranking), or by 12 November 2026 for the 16 December ranking (art. 31 c. 1.4). The envelope also holds copies of the student's codice fiscale (Italian tax code) and identity document (art. 31 c. 1.3); the full list is in the documents section below.

When are the EDISU Piemonte deadlines for 2026/27?

Applications ran from 22 July to 4 September 2026 at 12:00 Italian time and are now closed (Bando 2026/27, art. 10). For students who applied, bed acceptance runs to 29 September 2026 at 12:00, and the study visa scan must be uploaded by 19 October 2026 for the provisional ranking (art. 33, art. 31 c. 1.4).

The provisional grant ranking follows on 21 October 2026 (art. 12 c. 6). The paid-accommodation declaration runs from 21 October to 4 November 2026 at 12:00 for the 9 November ranking, or to 19 November for the 16 December ranking (art. 8 c. 2.3).

The final ranking comes on 9 November 2026 for first-year Bachelor's and single-cycle students enrolled by 31 October, and on 16 December 2026 for all other first-years, including every Master's student; the last visa upload for December is 30 November at 12:00 (art. 12, art. 31 c. 1.4). How and when is the EDISU Piemonte grant paid?

Winners in the 9 November 2026 ranking receive the first half in two parts: 20% from mid-November and 30% from the end of December 2026, if the IBAN is entered by 7 November. Winners in the 16 December 2026 ranking, including all Master's first-years, receive 50% from the end of December 2026 (Bando 2026/27, art. 13 c. 4).

These are start dates: EDISU orders the payment the following month. The second half comes from the end of June 2027 with 20 credits by 31 May 2027, self-certified online between 1 April and 8 June 2027, or from the end of November 2027 with 20 credits by 10 August 2027 (art. 13 c. 3 to 4).

Payment goes to a SEPA IBAN held or co-held by the student. A foreign SEPA IBAN is accepted when an Italian account cannot be opened, once the student gives an address in Italy (art. 13 c. 4, art. 7 c. 3).

How many credits do you need to keep the EDISU Piemonte grant?

Every full-time first-year student, Bachelor's or Master's, needs 20 CFU (university credits) registered by the university by 10 August 2027 to receive the second half of the grant; part-time students need 11 (Bando 2026/27, art. 13 c. 1). The credit bonus cannot be used in the first year.

Credits validated from a foreign career, supernumerary credits, credits for learning deficits and 24/60 CFU teacher-training credits do not count (art. 13 c. 1, art. 9 c. 2). Our guide to credits to keep your grant compares this rule across Italy.

What happens if you miss the credits at EDISU Piemonte?

Without 20 credits by 10 August 2027 the second half is lost. Below 20 by 30 November 2027 the grant is revoked: the student repays the first half, loses the fee exemption and the regional tax refund, and pays 8.18 EUR a day for any EDISU bed used (Bando 2026/27, art. 13 c. 5, art. 47 c. 2.1).

The 30 November deadline moves by 3 months for bereavement, a hospital stay of 10 days or more, long illness, natural disaster or war, and by 5 months for the birth of a child, on a request made in person at EDISU by 16 December 2027 (art. 13 c. 7).

Can you get an EDISU residence bed in Piedmont?

Yes, if the bed was requested with the grant by 4 September 2026, now closed. First-year non-EU students whose family lives outside the EU have 69 reserved beds, 61 of them in Turin and its surroundings. A bed replaces 2,700.00 EUR of the grant for 11 months (Bando 2026/27, art. 32, art. 5 c. 1.3 A).

The final housing ranking came out on 25 September 2026; winners accept online by 29 September at 12:00, or the grant drops to the pendolare amount (art. 33). Residences are in Turin, Alessandria, Cuneo, Novara, Vercelli, Biella and Asti (art. 32).

With a reasoned extension request, the bed is held until 31 December 2026 for international first-years who cannot reach Italy by the assignment date, though its cost runs from the last arrival day in the assignment email (art. 34 c. 1).

Documents from abroad for the EDISU Piemonte 2026/27 call

For a family abroad, EDISU Piemonte asks for original certificates issued by the home-country authorities, covering 2025 income and assets at 31 December 2025, with an official Italian translation and an apostille dated 2026. The envelope had to arrive by 4 September 2026 (grant and bed) or 25 September 2026 (grant only) (art. 30 c. 3, art. 31 c. 1.4).

• Household composition: name, surname and date of birth of both parents, siblings and anyone else living in the home (art. 30 c. 3 point 1).
• Gross 2025 income of every household member aged 18 or over on 1 January 2026, including the applicant, or a certificate of no income or unemployment for 2025 (art. 30 c. 3 point 2).
• Bank deposits, current accounts and savings books of every adult member at 31 December 2025, or proof of none; only for this item a notarial self-declaration or affidavit is accepted (art. 30 c. 3 point 3).
• Property abroad of every adult member at 31 December 2025, with the area in square metres, or a certificate of no ownership (art. 30 c. 3 point 4).
• Only for independent-student status: work income of at least 9,000 EUR in both 2024 and 2025 and two years living apart from the family (art. 30 c. 3 point 5).
• Each certificate issued by the competent foreign authority, translated into Italian by an official translator with the translation attached to the original, and legalised or apostilled, with translation and legalisation dated 2026 (art. 30 c. 3.1). Annex F lists India as "Apostille: YES".
• In the same envelope: the originals with their translations, a copy of the official codice fiscale, a copy of the student's identity document and, for minors, the authorisation form (art. 31 c. 1.3).
• Sent only by registered post with return receipt or by courier with proof of delivery to EDISU Piemonte, Via Madama Cristina 83, 10126 Torino, with the student's surname, name and "D.C. a.a. 2026/27" on the envelope; the arrival date counts (art. 31 c. 1.3 to 1.4).

Frequently asked questions about EDISU Piemonte

My family's documents missed the 25 September deadline. Is it too late for EDISU Piemonte?

Not entirely. For the grant only, documents that arrive by 28 October 2026 at 12:00 can still enter the 9 November final ranking for first-year Bachelor's students enrolled by 31 October, and those arriving by 12 November 2026 can enter the 16 December ranking. There is no appeal after that (art. 31 c. 1.4).

I am starting a Master's in Turin. Do the same EDISU rules apply?

Mostly. Master's first-years enrolled by 30 November 2026 are ranked on 16 December 2026 and receive the first 50% from the end of December 2026 if the IBAN is entered by 14 December; enrolment by 2 April 2027 moves them to the 30 April 2027 ranking. They also need 20 credits by 10 August 2027 for the second half (art. 9 c. 1, art. 12, art. 13).

I already have a degree. Can I still get the EDISU Piemonte grant?

It depends on the level. The call does not admit students who enrol in a Bachelor's while already holding a degree, or in a Master's while already holding a Master's-level degree (art. 3 c. 1 points 3 and 4). We check how your existing qualification is treated before the application goes in.

Can the EDISU grant be paid into my bank account back home?

Only if it has a SEPA IBAN. The call pays only to an account or prepaid card with a SEPA IBAN held or co-held by the student, and Italian postal savings books are excluded. A foreign SEPA IBAN is accepted when an Italian account cannot be opened, once the student gives an address in Italy (art. 13 c. 4, art. 7 c. 3).

What does "particularly poor countries" mean in the EDISU Piemonte call?

It is a list set by the Italian university ministry and printed as Annex D of the call. Students from those countries send a certificate from the Italian representation, plus the household composition, instead of the full family file. India does not appear in Annex D, so the complete documents apply (art. 30 c. 4).

Can I combine EDISU Piemonte with another scholarship?

Not with a similar benefit based on income and merit. A student who receives another such grant or a bed at no cost from a public or private body without choosing one of them is excluded. Grants that fund study or research stays abroad are the exception (art. 3 c. 1 point 10, art. 3 c. 2 point 8).

Do I need a codice fiscale for the EDISU application?

Yes. The codice fiscale is computed when registering for the Codice Temporaneo d'Accesso, and a copy of the official one, issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate or the Italian Embassy, goes in the envelope with the family documents (art. 31 c. 1.1, art. 31 c. 1.3 b).
