DiSCo Lazio Scholarship 2026/27: Amounts, Deadlines and Documents

Who can apply for DiSCo Lazio from countries like India?

Under the bando (official call), non-EU students can apply if they enrol at a Lazio university by 10 February 2027 and the family ISEE (the Italian family income indicator) is within 28,339.88 EUR (Bando 2026/27, arts. 4 and 12). A student whose family lives at least half abroad counts as fuori sede (living away from home) automatically (art. 10.1).

The family ISPE (the family assets indicator) must stay within 61,608.48 EUR (art. 12). India is not on the particularly poor countries list of Ministerial Decree 176 of 24 February 2026, which the call applies (art. 12.2), so families in countries like India go through the full income assessment described below.

A foreign degree already held must be declared in the application, and benefits are given only for the next level of study (art. 6). No lease is needed for fuori sede status, but this does not apply to telematic or mainly distance courses (art. 10.1).

How much is the DiSCo Lazio grant in 2026/27?

A fuori sede student with a family ISEE up to 14,169.94 EUR receives 7,556.78 EUR a year (about INR 8,31,000), plus two canteen meals a day valued at 600 EUR (Bando 2026/27, art. 8, Tabella 6). Up to 18,893.25 EUR the amount is 6,571.11 EUR, then it falls gradually to a minimum of 3,285.60 EUR.

• Pendolare (commuter): 4,129.32 EUR, 3,590.71 EUR, then down to a minimum of 1,795.36 EUR (art. 8, Tabella 6).
• In sede (living at home): 2,633.68 EUR, 2,290.16 EUR, then down to a minimum of 1,145.08 EUR (art. 8, Tabella 6).
• Every level: two meals a day at DiSCo canteens, valued at 600 EUR, on top of the cash (art. 8, art. 24).

Female students on STEM courses receive 20% more on the base amount (art. 8). Students whose course is in Rome, or in a town without a DiSCo canteen, could ask in the application to receive the 600 EUR in cash instead of the meals (art. 8, art. 24). A DiSCo residence bed, if assigned, is paid for out of the grant (art. 30).

Which documents does a family abroad need for DiSCo Lazio?

The family needs official documents issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities in its country of residence, translated into Italian, showing each member, their 2024 gross income, buildings and movable assets at 31 December 2024, and any rent (art. 12.2). A DiSCo-agreed CAF (tax assistance centre) uses them to issue the ISEEUP by 10 December 2026.

The ISEEUP is DiSCo's version of the ISEE parificato (the income statement for families outside Italy). Self-declarations and affidavits are refused, and the family's total income cannot be zero (art. 12.2). The full list is in the documents section below.

When are the DiSCo Lazio deadlines for 2026/27?

The 2026/27 application ran from 10 June to 12:00 (Italian time) on 22 July 2026, with a correction phase until 12:00 on 11 August 2026 (Bando 2026/27, art. 14). The final grant ranking is due on 12 October 2026 (art. 16), and the ISEEUP must be signed at a DiSCo-agreed CAF by 10 December 2026 (art. 12.2).

• 10 December 2026: ISEEUP signed; nothing is accepted after this date (art. 12.2). Students with a residence bed must also complete enrolment and upload their residence permit documents by then (art. 14.1).
• 10 February 2027: university enrolment completed and residence permit documents uploaded for everyone else (art. 14.1).
• 10 August 2027 and 30 November 2027: the two credit checks for first-years (art. 41.4 to 41.6).

The call is now closed to new applicants. The only later window is a reopening for Medicine students on the open first semester, announced separately (art. 4.1). We track each date for the students we work with; our page on DSU deadlines compares them across regions.

How and when is the DiSCo Lazio grant paid?

Bachelor's and single-cycle first-years receive 20% of the grant by 10 November 2026 and a further 30% by 27 December 2026; two-year Master's first-years receive 50% by 27 December 2026 (art. 41.7). The remaining 50% is paid from October 2027, once 20 credits are recorded. Payments go to an IBAN in the student's name (art. 9).

The IBAN, Italian or from another SEPA country, must be entered within six months of the award, or the right to payment is lost (art. 9). Students living abroad also need a PEC (certified email) address or an elected domicile, otherwise payments are suspended (art. 1, art. 9). For a DiSCo bed, 700 EUR is taken from the first instalment and the rest from the second (art. 30).

How many credits do you need to keep the DiSCo Lazio grant?

First-years on Bachelor's, single-cycle and two-year Master's courses all need 20 CFU (university credits) recorded by their university by 10 August 2027 to receive the full grant (art. 41.4). Bonus credits cannot be used for this. DiSCo checks the records itself, and the balance follows from October 2027 (art. 41.7).

What happens if you miss the credits in Lazio?

Reaching 20 credits after 10 August 2027 but by 30 November 2027 cuts the grant by 50% (art. 41.5). Missing them by 30 November 2027 revokes all benefits: the money received must be repaid, and the meals and any residence place used must be paid for, by 31 December of the year the revocation is notified (art. 41.6).

For documented family or personal hardship, DiSCo may allow repayment in up to 18 monthly instalments (art. 21.1). A three-month extension can be requested by 30 November 2027 for documented exceptional events such as bereavement, a hospital stay of at least ten days or serious illness; international students' documents must be translated and legalised or apostilled (art. 41.6).

Can you get a DiSCo Lazio residence bed?

Yes, if the student is fuori sede. At least 20% of first-year places are reserved for non-EU students, ranked on the ISEEUP (art. 26). Beds were requested in the same application by 22 July 2026; the final housing ranking came out on 16 September 2026 (art. 16). The monthly cost is deducted from the grant (art. 30).

• Cost: from 143 EUR to 298 EUR a month, depending on the residence and the room (art. 30).
• Dates: stays normally start by 15 October 2026 and end by 31 July 2027; residences close in August and September (art. 27).
• Keeping the place: enrolment, residence permit documents and the ISEEUP must be in order by 10 December 2026, or the bed is lost (art. 14.1, art. 20.1).

Documents from abroad for the DiSCo Lazio 2026/27 call

DiSCo Lazio asks for official documents, not self-declarations or affidavits. They must be issued by the Italian diplomatic authorities in the family's country of residence, translated into Italian and handed to a DiSCo-agreed CAF, where the student signs the ISEEUP by 10 December 2026 (Bando 2026/27, art. 12.2). Documents produced after that date are refused, even in original.

• Family composition: first name, surname and date of birth of every member of the family of origin (art. 12.2).
• Income: gross income earned in the home country in 2024 by each member; if a member had no income, the document must say so (art. 12.2).
• Property: any buildings owned by each member at 31 December 2024, with their floor area (art. 12.2).
• Movable assets: movable (financial) assets held at 31 December 2024; if there are none, the document must state it (art. 12.2).
• Rent: any rent paid for the family home (art. 12.2).
• Issued by: the Italian diplomatic authorities in the country of residence; the call sets no separate apostille step for this route (art. 12.2).
• Translation: into Italian, compulsory (art. 12.2).
• Where they go: to a DiSCo-agreed CAF, which issues the ISEEUP and sends the values to DiSCo; a CAF without a DiSCo agreement means exclusion (art. 12.2, art. 20).
• Consistency: the family's total income cannot be zero and must be consistent with the income rules for the residence permit (art. 12.2).

Frequently asked questions about DiSCo Lazio

I already have a Bachelor's degree from abroad. Can I get DiSCo Lazio for a Master's?

Yes, benefits are given for the level after the one already held. The foreign degree must be declared in the application, or benefits are lost, and DiSCo may ask for official proof such as a CIMEA or ARDI statement or a DOV by 10 February 2027 (art. 6, art. 11.1). We prepare that evidence as part of the file.

Do I need a rental contract to count as fuori sede in Lazio?

No. An international student living abroad whose family lives at least 50% outside Italy is classed as fuori sede automatically, with no lease needed (art. 10.1). This does not apply to telematic or mainly distance courses, and taking registered residence in the study town can change the status to in sede (art. 10.3).

Does the DiSCo Lazio grant cover university tuition?

This call does not set a tuition exemption; fees are a matter for each university. What the call does set is that DiSCo refunds the regional right-to-study tax, paid at enrolment, to grant winners and to eligible students who are not funded (art. 23). We check each university's fee rules for DSU students as part of the application.

Can I hold DiSCo Lazio together with another scholarship?

Not with other right-to-study grants, Italian Foreign Ministry (MAECI) scholarships or university merit scholarships. A student who wins one must renounce it and file proof within 15 days to keep the DiSCo grant (art. 5). It can be combined with 150-hour student collaboration contracts and Erasmus-type mobility grants.

What if the ISEEUP comes out higher than the figures in the application?

Students are ranked on the figures declared in the application. If the ISEEUP sent by the CAF is higher, DiSCo recalculates the outcome and the amount, which can lower or cancel the award (art. 12.2). Family and income data for non-EU students cannot be changed after 11 August 2026 (art. 14.2), so we check the family figures carefully before the application is sent.

What does particularly poor countries mean, and does it apply to countries like India?

It is a list set by Ministerial Decree 176 of 24 February 2026, which the call reproduces in its Annex E (art. 12.2). Students from those countries are assessed on a certificate from the Italian representation instead of full family income documents. India is not on the list, so families in countries like India follow the full ISEEUP route.

Do I need an Italian bank account and a PEC address for DiSCo Lazio?
