Which programmes does the University of Eastern Piedmont teach in English?
The University of Eastern Piedmont has 3 English-taught programmes on ApplyAZ for the next intake: all of them master's degrees. Each programme page sets out its entry test, intake and requirements. The table lists them all by level, with the test each one uses.
Source: our own programme listings, counted on 9 October 2026; the counts match the programme list further down this page, and our full programme list covers every public university. Degrees with an English-taught curriculum are included, and Pharmaceutical Biotechnologies is taught in Italian with some lessons in English. How tuition works at the University of Eastern Piedmont
Tuition at the University of Eastern Piedmont depends on the department in 2026/27. The contribution follows the family ISEE, or an ISEE parificato for families abroad, and study can be tuition-free for eligible students with an EDISU Piemonte scholarship.
Tuition follows family income (ISEE). Families with income abroad file an ISEE parificato, and DSU scholarship winners are exempt from tuition. An ISEE up to €30,000 falls in the no-tax area.
The Manifesto degli Studi 2026/2027 lists Medical Biotechnologies under the School of Medicine. Food, Health and Environment is taught in Vercelli by DISSTE, a department the fee regulation does not name, so we confirm which fee group applies for your file. From the second year beyond a course's normal length, the contribution rises.

Families whose income is wholly or partly outside Italy need an ISEE parificato, issued by a CAF or an authorised professional; UPO advises visa applicants to get their family's tax return translated through the Italian consulate. It is uploaded through UpoRisponde by 31 December 2026, and without it the top band applies; UPO sets no flat fee by country. Source: UPO, Manifesto degli Studi 2026/2027, section 3.2.
Worked example: With a family ISEE parificato of €15,000, a first-year student from India falls in the no-tax area in 2026/27, which covers an ISEE up to €30,000. Without a valid ISEE parificato by 31 December 2026, the top band applies. We prepare the translated tax return and the ISEE parificato file with you for UPO, and the EDISU Piemonte application with you, since EDISU accepts only an ISEE parificato calculated by its own affiliated CAAF.
How do non-EU students apply to the University of Eastern Piedmont?
Non-EU students living abroad apply to the University of Eastern Piedmont through Universitaly pre-enrolment, which UPO validates and forwards to the consulate. Each master's first runs its own admission procedure, set out on its programme page. | Step | Where | When |
|---|
| 1. Universitaly pre-enrolment | Universitaly, reviewed and validated by UPO | By 30 November 2026 for 2026/27; UPO then forwards it to the consulate the student chose |

Check your eligibilityWhich entry tests and language levels does the University of Eastern Piedmont ask for?
The University of Eastern Piedmont uses CISIA's TOLC-E and TOLC-SU to check starting knowledge on some Italian-taught bachelor's degrees, not to select. Medical Biotechnologies adds a test of basic knowledge, according to its brochure, and other English-taught master's check the degree and B2 English. Every student also needs B1 English, shown by a certificate or UPO's placement test.
| Test or route | Used for | Source |
|---|
| TOLC-E by CISIA | Economia Aziendale, taught in Italian: a compulsory check of starting knowledge with extra learning requirements (OFA), not a selection; the same department uses TOLC-SU for Tourism Design and Management | DISEI test page 2026/27 |
| TOLC-SU by CISIA | Italian-taught humanities bachelor's (Modern Foreign Languages, Lettere, Philosophy and Communication): compulsory but not selective, with OFA to clear in the first year | DISUM test page |
| Medical Biotechnologies entrance test | The English-taught master's in Novara: a test of background in anatomy, biochemistry, biology and genetics, as its undated course brochure states; the course page names no test, so we check the 2027/28 procedure for you | Medical Biotechnologies brochure (July 2025, no year printed) |
| National admission procedures | Medicine and Surgery, taught in Italian, under the new 2026/27 national access rules, and the health professions such as Nursing and Physiotherapy (a route; places set nationally) | UPO admissions page |
| Requirements check (master's) | Food, Health and Environment and other open-access master's: the department checks the degree class or credits and B2 English (a route, not an entry test) | Food, Health and Environment brochure 2026 |
| English Placement Test | Every enrolled student needs B1 English: a recognised certificate gives an exemption, and a result below B1 leaves an educational debt (a check after enrolment, not an entry test) | UPO English Placement Test page |
The table sets out what UPO's 2026/27 admission pages ask for at each degree level, with one English-taught bachelor's and one master's as examples.
| Degree level (example programme, 2026/27) | Entry route | English | At application | At enrolment |
|---|
| Bachelor's (Management for Sustainability, Vercelli, taught in English) | Open access, after Universitaly pre-enrolment; a TOLC check applies to some Italian-taught courses | A B2 certificate, such as IELTS 5.5 to 6.5 | A school diploma from at least 12 years of schooling, a Declaration of Value or CIMEA statement, a certified translation and a B2 certificate, with the Universitaly pre-enrolment | In person at the Student Administration Office by 31 January 2027; the ISEE parificato by 31 December 2026 for the fee |
| Master's (Food, Health and Environment, Vercelli) | Department check: a degree in class L-13 or L-2, or 40 credits in biological and 20 in other subjects | At least B2, or equivalent | The bachelor's diploma and transcript, a Declaration of Value or CIMEA statement, certified translations and a B2 certificate | In person by 31 January 2027, with the documents; the ISEE parificato by 31 December 2026 for the fee |

English: B2 for English-taught programmes, by certificates such as IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 46 to 93, Cambridge FCE, Trinity, Pearson, LanguageCert or the Oxford Test of English. Applicants with an Italian residence permit valid for at least a year need no B2 certificate. Source.
Italian: B2 for Italian-taught programmes, by a CILS, CERT.IT, CVCL or PLIDA certificate, or at least 48 out of 72 on the CISIA Italian test. Source. We match each programme on your shortlist to its test and handle the registration and application steps for eligible students.

UPO's fee regulation also rewards merit: a first-year master's student who finished the first degree on time with at least 100/110 is exempt from most of the contribution, once in a whole university career (Article 14.1). The regulation does not say how a foreign mark is converted, so we check it for your degree. The other awards on UPO's grants page are for its own graduates or set by departments.
Two national schemes are open to international students too: our guides to the MAECI scholarship and Invest Your Talent in Italy explain who can apply.

For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Vercelli, Novara and Alessandria or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.

|---|
| Visa minimum for living costs | €10,179.85 a year (about ₹11.2 lakh) | Kolkata consulate checklist, item 6 |

Reality check
- The visa route starts on Universitaly. For 2026/27, UPO takes pre-enrolments from non-EU visa applicants until 30 November 2026, and master's degrees add a department check of each applicant's degree.
- Enrolment has a hard deadline. Visa holders must enrol in person by 31 January 2027, and the Manifesto warns that a student who does not risks having the visa revoked.
- Documents decide the fee. Without an ISEE parificato uploaded by 31 December 2026, the top band applies, and EDISU accepts only its own CAAF's calculation for the scholarship.
- Italian still matters. UPO lists 1 of its 21 bachelor's as taught in English (bachelor's list), Italian-taught degrees ask for B2 Italian, and daily life in Vercelli, Novara and Alessandria needs it too.
What we handle: the shortlist, the fee route, the income documents, the programme applications, the Universitaly pre-enrolment, the visa file and the EDISU Piemonte application, prepared with you. The university decides admission, the region decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.
How does ApplyAZ handle applications to the University of Eastern Piedmont?
For eligible students, we take care of the whole application to the University of Eastern Piedmont. We shortlist programmes against your profile and their entry tests, prepare the documents and the family's income papers, file each programme application, complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, handle the visa file and prepare the EDISU Piemonte application with you.
We work only with Italian public universities, and we do not promise outcomes: the university decides admission, the region decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.

How does tuition work at the University of Eastern Piedmont?

Can study at the University of Eastern Piedmont be tuition-free for eligible students?
Yes. EDISU Piemonte scholarship winners and eligible students are exempt from UPO tuition, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students. It depends on the ISEE parificato: with a family ISEE parificato of €15,000, a first-year student from India falls in the no-tax area in 2026/27, which covers an ISEE up to €30,000. Without a valid one by 31 December 2026, the top band applies. We prepare the file with the family.
