- Minimum grade: a weighted average of at least 23/30 in passed exams, not counting the final project. For degrees awarded abroad, the committee reads your GPA against your country's grading system.

The rule is set by field, not by a list of credits, so the committee looks at how closely your courses match industrial or information engineering. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science or Biomedical Engineering, with an average that sits at or above the 23/30 level on your university's scale.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech in Biotechnology or Chemical Engineering, or a B.Sc. in Physics or Computer Science, or a BCA. These can count as a related field, but the committee decides case by case.
- Often short: a B.Sc. in Biology or Life Sciences, a B.Pharm, or a B.Com, BBA or BA, which sit outside engineering.

There is no entrance test. A selection committee of at least three teaching staff scores your file out of 100: [1]
- Up to 30 points: coherence between your previous studies and the aims of the master's.
- Up to 60 points: your academic record, including marks, any postgraduate courses and extra academic activities.
- Up to 10 points: English above B2 or knowledge of other languages.

About the programme
Bioengineering for Personalized Medicine is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM-21, biomedical engineering) worth 120 ECTS and taught entirely in English. The Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Trento runs it as an interuniversity degree with the University of Verona and the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. How the programme is taught
Besides lectures, teaching uses interactive case-study sessions, purpose-built laboratory activities, group research projects, visits to local companies and international seminars. Classes are small, and Erasmus+ and theses or projects abroad are possible.
Career paths
Graduates work for medical device manufacturers, pharmaceutical developers, health and social services and public or private organisations. Roles listed by the department include biomedical product designer, clinical engineer, product manager, manufacturing operations manager, quality and safety manager in healthcare, and health information systems manager. A PhD or second-level master is also an option.
