Degree and grade rule
For 2026/27 your degree had to be awarded by 30 June 2026. You need one of: [1][2]
- Italian degree: a bachelor's in industrial engineering (class L-9), or another Italian degree that meets the programme's admission rules.
- Foreign degree: a qualification recognised as equivalent, which the selection committee assesses from your academic record.
UniTrento describes the expected background as a bachelor's of at least three years in a management or industrial systems engineering discipline, with a study plan showing basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry and industrial engineering. [2]
The weighted average of your passed exams, excluding the final project, must be at least 23/30. For degrees awarded abroad, the committee reads your grade average on your own country's scale. [1]
What this means for your transcript
Most degrees from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are assessed on content and grades rather than by Italian degree class. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Industrial and Production Engineering.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech or B.E. in Chemical, Materials, Metallurgical, Automobile, Mechatronics, Electrical or Civil Engineering. These usually cover maths, physics and chemistry but can be light on manufacturing, production or other industrial engineering subjects.
- Often short: a BBA, B.Com, BA, BCA or B.Sc., even with management content, because the rule asks for a base in physics, chemistry and industrial engineering.
Your grades matter twice: they must meet the minimum average, and they carry most of the selection points. UniTrento verifies foreign degrees only after admission and Universitaly pre-enrolment, and may ask for a statement of verification or a statement of comparability. [1]

English at CEFR level B2 or higher in all four skills, shown by the application deadline (4 March 2026 for 2026/27) through one of: [1]
- an international English certificate;
- a B2 or higher English exam passed at another university, with all four skills and the level tested and certified;
- a bachelor's degree taught entirely in English, with certification;
- citizenship of a country whose official language is English.

Selection and ranking
There is no entrance test. A selection committee of at least three teaching staff scores your file out of 100: [1]
- Up to 30 points: coherence between your previous studies and the aims of the master's.
- Up to 60 points: your academic record, including marks, any postgraduate courses and extra academic activities.
- Up to 10 points: English above B2 or knowledge of other languages.
If your documents are not enough to assess you, the committee may call you for an interview, possibly online. You need at least 50 out of 100 to be ranked as eligible, and ties go to the younger candidate. [1]
2026/27 places and deadlines
For 2026/27 there were 25 places for non-EU applicants living abroad, including applicants selected through the EIT Manufacturing programme. Applications closed on 4 March 2026 at 12:00 CET. [1]
Rankings were published on 20 May 2026. Admitted candidates then confirmed their place by the deadline given with the ranking. [1][2]

The online application needs: [1]
- your passport (personal data pages);
- your bachelor's degree certificate, if already awarded, with an official English translation if it is not in English or Italian;
- a full transcript with all courses, exams and marks, the weighted average and the grading scale, translated if needed (students still finishing also list exams not yet passed);
- a CV in English, preferably in Europass format;
- your English proof.
You can apply to more than one DII master, with a separate application for each. After confirming your place, you pre-enrol on Universitaly within two weeks. UniTrento issues its admission letter only after this step, and pre-enrolment is needed for the visa. For 2026/27, students delayed by the visa were admitted only if it was issued by 31 October 2026. About the programme
Management and Industrial Systems Engineering (MISE) is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM-31, management engineering) worth 120 ECTS and taught in English. It is run by the Department of Industrial Engineering at via Sommarive 9 in Povo, on the University of Trento's engineering and science campus.
The degree trains engineers to manage and control the processes of the new production paradigm, where technical choices, economics, organisation, sustainability and digital technologies meet. It suits industrial engineering graduates who want to move towards running plants, supply chains and innovation projects rather than designing single components.
What you will study
All students share a 60 ECTS first year, then choose between two curricula: Design and Sustainability, or Management and Digitalization. Each second year adds two electives and a 15 ECTS final project. Units in the official study plan include:

Electives range from the Laboratory of Internet of Things and Distributed robot perception to Circular economy for materials processing and Product variety management. Fees and scholarships
MISE is in fee group A. Under the 2026/27 DII call, the first-year fee for non-EU students living abroad follows your admission score: 90 or more brings a full waiver, and lower scores bring reduced fees. In year two, earning at least 42 ECTS by 10 August brings a full waiver. [1] Top-ranked applicants with at least 70 points may get a UniTrento scholarship that includes a fee waiver. I have a BBA or a B.Com. Can I apply?
Usually not on that degree alone. Despite the management in the title, this is an engineering master, and the rule asks for basic knowledge of maths, physics, chemistry and industrial engineering, which business degrees rarely cover.
