Tor Vergata's Pharmacy degree asks for a school-leaving qualification that gives access to university, after at least 12 years of schooling for foreign diplomas, the CISIA CEnT-S test, which decides the ranking, and English at B2, shown by an interview or a recognised certificate. School-leaving requirement
You need an Italian upper secondary school diploma or a foreign secondary school qualification recognised for admission to Italian universities. A foreign diploma must come after at least 12 years of schooling. [1]
Students in the final year of secondary school can apply, as long as they obtain the qualification before the enrolment deadlines in the call. The call sets no minimum school grade and no required school subjects. [1]
What this means for your school results
Your school marks do not count towards the ranking: places go by your CEnT-S score, and the test covers maths, reasoning, biology, chemistry and physics. As a guide, based on the rules above:
- Usually a fit: a Class 12 or Higher Secondary certificate completed after 12 years of schooling in a science stream with biology and chemistry (PCB or PCMB).
- Check carefully: a PCM stream without biology, or a Commerce or Arts stream, since low section scores bring extra learning requirements in the first year. A levels and other UK qualifications follow specific ministerial rules, so we check them against those rules.
- Often short: a school qualification reached after fewer than 12 years of schooling, or a final-year result that will not be issued before the enrolment deadlines.
English
The degree is taught entirely in English, and you need English at CEFR level B2. [1]
- Interview: an online oral interview checks your B2 English. It is pass or fail, with no score, and only candidates who pass are ranked.
- Exemption: a valid B2 certificate from a recognised body, such as Cambridge English, IELTS, TOEFL iBT, Trinity College London, ETS, TOEIC or Pearson, uploaded on Delphi with your application, can exempt you. A degree from an English-taught programme can also exempt you.
- Scores: the call does not list specific IELTS or TOEFL scores. The examining board decides whether your document qualifies.
Admission test and ranking
The CISIA CEnT-S (CISIA English Test, Sciences) is the main selection criterion. [1]
- Format: 55 questions in 110 minutes: mathematics (15), reasoning on texts and data (15), biology (10), chemistry (10) and physics (5). You can sit it at a university test centre (CENT@UNI) or online from home (CENT@CASA).
- Scoring: 1 point for a correct answer, minus 0.25 for a wrong answer and 0 for a blank. There is no minimum score, and if you sit the test more than once your highest normalised score counts.
- Ties: decided by the chemistry section score, then in favour of the younger candidate.
- Extra learning requirements (OFA): a score below 4 in mathematics, biology or chemistry, or below 2 in physics, brings an OFA in that subject. You clear it by passing the matching first-year exam, and you cannot take second-year exams until you do.
Places in 2026/27
The 2026/27 call offered 80 places: 60 for Italian, EU and non-EU applicants legally resident in Italy, and 20 reserved for non-EU citizens living abroad who need a study visa. Non-EU visa applicants have a separate ranking list. [1]

Documents and non-EU steps
The Delphi application asks for a valid identity document, plus a B2 certificate if you want an interview exemption. You validate it with the CTRL and AUTH codes the system generates, and it cannot be changed afterwards. [1]
Tor Vergata takes your CEnT-S score directly from CISIA using your Italian fiscal code, so the same code must appear on both platforms or your score cannot be matched to your application. [1]
Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a visa must submit Universitaly pre-enrolment and wait for the university to validate it before the visa stage. At enrolment, foreign qualifications must come with the documents the university lists, and irregular documents lead to automatic cancellation of enrolment. [1]

About the programme
Pharmacy is a five-year single-cycle master's degree (laurea magistrale a ciclo unico, class LM-13) worth 300 credits and delivered only in English at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. It belongs to the Department of Biology in the School of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences, on the university's campus in the south-east of Rome, and is a restricted-access programme. [1][2]
The course was set up by the Schools of Medicine and Science in partnership with the School of Pharmacy of the University of Nottingham. It trains pharmacists with expertise in medicines and health products such as cosmetics, supplements, herbal and diagnostic products and medical devices, and suits school leavers with a strong interest in chemistry, biology and health.
What you will study
The early years build the chemistry, biology and physics base, then the course moves into drug design, pharmacology and pharmaceutical technology. It also adds medical subjects and regulatory science, which covers EU rules on how new medicines are developed and approved. Units in the current syllabus include:

- Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Biochemistry I and II, and Molecular Biology

- Pharmaceutical Technology with Pharmaceutical Compounding Practices, and Biopharmaceutics and Preformulation
- Internal Medicine and Dermatopharmacology, and Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- Italian and European Pharmaceutical Legislation and Commercial Law, and Regulatory and Pharmacoeconomic Aspects
How the programme is taught
Attendance at lectures and laboratory sessions is mandatory. Teaching mixes lectures, workshops and e-learning sessions with national and international experts, plus visits to pharmaceutical companies.
The degree includes a practical training period (tirocinio) of at least six months, worth 30 credits, in a community or hospital pharmacy. It is required for the state exam that qualifies you to practise as a pharmacist, and from January 2026 you need at least 160 compulsory credits before you can start it. Each year, the course funds four-month research placements at the University of Nottingham for top fourth-year students, and Erasmus exchanges are open too.

Fees and scholarships
Pharmacy is one of the Tor Vergata degrees with a yearly flat rate for non-EU students who do not declare family income. You can instead declare income through the ISEE parificato, and the fee then follows your income. LazioDisco winners on the flat rate are exempt only from the regional fee, while the income route can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
For 2026/27 there were 80 places, 20 of them for non-EU citizens living abroad who need a visa. Applicants took the CISIA CEnT-S between 1 November 2025 and 9 June 2026, applied on Delphi between 18 February and 12 June 2026, and then had an online oral interview on their English from 6 July 2026, unless a B2 certificate exempted them. Places go by the CEnT-S score, with a separate ranking for non-EU visa applicants. [1]
Foreign school qualifications must follow at least 12 years of schooling, and their supporting documents are checked at enrolment, so we prepare them well in advance. For 2026/27, Universitaly pre-enrolment had to be submitted by 10 June 2026 to take part in the selection. After the university validates it, you apply for a type D study visa, and international students with foreign qualifications completed enrolment in person by 5 November 2026.
