If your degree is in another field or from another country, the teaching board assesses it on your study curriculum, sometimes with an interview. You need a sound grasp of the basic sciences and of the core and related subjects of information or industrial engineering. Any gaps the board identifies must be closed before enrolment by taking single course units and passing their exams. [2]
Graduates of the right class whose background differs from the one the course assumes can be admitted with an individual 120-credit study plan. [2]

The rule is about subjects, not a fixed credit count, and the board reviews every foreign degree case by case. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Biomedical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering, which cover the information or industrial engineering subjects the rule refers to.

Italian for candidates with a foreign qualification
Roma Tre's 2026/27 call says candidates with a foreign qualification must hold an Italian certificate at B2, or pass Roma Tre's own Italian test, to enrol. The test is online and has a written and an oral part. Passing only one part is not enough. [1]
Roma Tre's 2026/27 guide for students with foreign qualifications says the same for non-EU visa applicants, under the ministry's rules for that year. Exemptions are limited: Italian school diplomas from schools abroad, certain Argentine school certificates, the Perugia or Siena Diploma in Italian Language and Culture, and CLIQ certificates at C1 or C2. Career assessment
There is no subject entrance exam. You file a preliminary career assessment request on Roma Tre's GOMP portal, one for each master's you want. You list every exam with its subject sector, title, date, grade and credits, and requests without subject sectors are not considered. Graduates of other universities also send the syllabus of each exam. [1][2]
The outcome is admitted, not admitted, or admitted on condition: either pending your graduation, or with missing subjects to make up through single course units before enrolment. [1]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, career assessment requests ran from 7 April to 15 September 2026, with a late period to 15 December 2026. Outcomes were due by 6 October 2026, enrolment ran from 7 April to 16 November 2026, and conditionally admitted students had until 31 March 2027. [1]
Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a visa had to complete Universitaly pre-enrolment by 15 September 2026. [3] Final-year students could apply if they expected to graduate by March 2027. [1] The 2027/28 call sets the new dates.

Every student completes a 6 ECTS internship in the department's labs or at a company or institution in Italy or abroad, and the 12 ECTS thesis is an original piece of analysis or design work that can be carried out in the university's labs or with a company or research body.
