Degree and the 40 plus 60 credit rule
You need a bachelor's degree or other foreign qualification recognised as suitable, from an accredited university, earned after at least 15 years of total education including school. [1]
Your previous studies must include: [1]
- At least 40 credits in core subjects: chemistry, physics, computer science and engineering, mathematics (algebra, geometry and analysis), operations research and statistics (sectors CHIM/07, FIS/01, FIS/03, ING-INF/05, MAT/02, MAT/03, MAT/05, MAT/09 and SECS-S/02).
- At least 60 credits in engineering subjects: chemistry, structural and applied mechanics, fluid dynamics and machines, thermodynamics, mechanical design and drawing, manufacturing, industrial plants, metallurgy and materials, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, computer engineering, bioengineering, measurements, management engineering and private law (sectors CHIM/07, ICAR/08, ING-IND/06, 08, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 24, 31, 32, 33 and 35, ING-INF/01, 03, 05, 06 and 07, and IUS/01).
Credits in a sector that appears in both lists count first towards the 40 core credits, and any remainder counts towards the 60. [1]
Recommended and excluded degrees
The 2026/27 course table recommends a bachelor's in management engineering, industrial engineering and management, mechanical, aerospace, ICT, automotive, process or automation engineering, or a similar field. [2]
Bachelor's degrees in biomedical, chemical and food, materials, electrical, electronic or energy engineering, and similar fields, are not accepted for this programme, even though they belong to industrial engineering. [2]
What this means for your transcript
Italian credits (CFU) and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and Politecnico looks at your subjects, not just your total. As a guide, based on the rules above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automobile, Industrial or Automation Engineering, which are in the recommended list.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech in Computer Science, IT or Electronics and Communication Engineering. ICT engineering is recommended but electronic engineering is excluded, so how your degree and credits read matters. A B.Tech in Production or Civil Engineering also needs a close look at the 60 engineering credits.
- Not accepted: a B.Tech in Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics, Chemical, Biomedical, Materials or Energy Engineering.
- Often short: a B.Sc., BCA, B.Com, BBA or BA, which usually lacks the 60 engineering credits even when the maths block is covered.
If you lack fewer than 10 credits, the academic advisor can admit you; larger gaps need final approval from the programme coordinator. Applicants who do not meet the curricular requirements make up the missing credits before enrolment, through single courses (up to 60 credits) or, beyond that, by enrolling in a bachelor's programme. English
You need an English certificate at CEFR B2 or higher, and the 2026/27 course table lists IELTS 5.5 as the minimum score. The Italian edition, Ingegneria Gestionale, also needs Italian at B2. [1][2]
Politecnico accepts the certificates on its own chart, and TOEFL results must be sent with code C285. You do not need an English certificate if your degree was earned after an English-taught course of study in a listed country, which includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore, or if it was awarded by the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. You then upload an official statement that the medium of instruction was English. [3]
The embassy can still ask for a language certificate for the visa, so we check this for your file. [3]
Evaluation and no entrance test
There is no entrance test, and the course table lists no interview and no syllabus for this programme. [2] The Recruitment and Admissions Unit checks your requirements and documents, then professors appointed by the Collegio assess your academic performance and how well your degree fits the programme. For non-Italian qualifications the regulations set no numeric grade threshold. [1][3]
An offer of admission is valid only for the academic year you applied for. If the committee finds you not suitable on curricular or academic grounds, you cannot be admitted to any Politecnico master's that year. [1][3]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, applicants with a non-Italian qualification had two calls on Apply@PoliTO, after a 15-day extension: [3]
- First call: 19 December 2025 to 13 February 2026, 2:00 p.m. Italian time. Results on 15 April 2026, and Universitaly pre-enrolment for the study visa by 30 June 2026.
- Second call: 18 March to 20 April 2026, 2:00 p.m. Italian time. Results on 22 June 2026, and Universitaly pre-enrolment by 15 July 2026.
A third call in November 2026 is only for EU applicants and non-EU applicants already living in Italy. The 2027/28 calendar is not yet published. [3]
Documents and non-EU steps
You submit one application on Apply@PoliTO with up to two master's programmes in order of preference, and pay a €50 non-refundable fee. Applications cannot be changed after submission. [3]
- Passport, CV, and your bachelor's certificate or an official document stating your expected graduation date.
- An official transcript listing all completed exams, with the grading and credit system.
- An English certificate, or the medium of instruction statement if you are exempt.
- A declaration of value or CIMEA statement of comparability, recommended when you apply and compulsory for enrolment. A Diploma Supplement can replace it at enrolment.
Non-EU applicants living abroad must pre-enrol on Universitaly to get a type D study visa. Politecnico validates the pre-enrolment only once you are eligible and have uploaded proof of your bachelor's degree. [3]

Engineering and Management is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-31 (Management Engineering) at Politecnico di Torino, run by the Department of Management and Production Engineering on the main campus in Turin. [1][4]
The degree is taught both in Italian and in English: Engineering and Management is the English edition, which needs English only, and Ingegneria Gestionale is the Italian one.

The English edition of Engineering and Management is built on four learning areas shared by all students, after which you choose one of five specialist tracks, each focused on a different management field. The four areas are:
- Markets, strategy and business management: strategy, organisational design, the impact of technology and financial management
- Management of production and quality systems: production management strategies, quality systems, project and risk management
- Corporate economic and legal analysis: economic theory, how markets work, corporate governance and the legal framework
- ICT system management: the analysis, design and development of information systems

How the programme is taught
Teaching mixes lectures with practical classes, case study analysis, group projects and seminars led by professionals from industry. The degree ends with a 16-credit thesis, about 400 hours of work, which can be standard, combined with an 8-credit company internship, or paired with a 6-credit thesis seminar. These degrees often fall short. The regulations ask for 40 credits in maths, science and computing plus 60 in engineering subjects, and the recommended backgrounds are engineering degrees. Missing credits must be made up before enrolment, so we check your transcript first. [1][2]
