About the programme

Chemical and Sustainable Processes Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-22 (Chemical Engineering) at Politecnico di Torino, taught on the main campus in Turin. The degree runs in Italian and English: its English-taught path, Chemical Engineering for Green Transition, needs English only, while the Italian path is taught partly in Italian. Access is uncapped, subject to an evaluation of your admission requirements.

The programme studies traditional and innovative chemical processes with particular attention to their environmental and energy sustainability. It trains chemical engineers who can manage technological innovation in the chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, energy and biotechnology sectors, reducing hazards, improving energy efficiency and developing sustainable processes. It suits graduates in chemical engineering or another engineering field.

How the programme is taught

Through Politecnico's Twin Track scheme, students of this degree can earn a second master's degree, in Environmental and Land Engineering or in Energy and Nuclear Engineering, in one extra year. The programme has an advisor for internships and one for international and Erasmus mobility, with exchange options at European and worldwide partners. Students with a non-Italian qualification on an English-taught master's must reach Italian at A2 level before graduating.

Graduates work as chemical engineers who manage innovation in industry. The programme page names the chemical, pharmaceutical, environmental, energy and biotechnology sectors, where the degree's skills in process modelling, equipment design, risk analysis and process optimisation apply to making production safer, more energy efficient and more sustainable.

Fees and scholarships

How much you pay at Politecnico di Torino depends on citizenship or residence, and you can request a reduction based on family income; the university's yearly fee rules give the amounts. EDISU Piemonte, the regional right-to-study body, offers scholarships and university housing through a call open to international students. For a family abroad, you provide foreign income and asset documents and EDISU turns them into an ISEE parificato.

How to apply from outside the EU

For Chemical Engineering for Green Transition, the recommended background is a bachelor's in any field of engineering, and no syllabus is required. Choose this path on Apply@PoliTO, where you can rank up to two master's programmes and pay a €50 non-refundable fee. As a guide, the 2026/27 first call ran to 13 February 2026 and the second to 20 April 2026; the 2027/28 calls were not yet published in September 2026.

After admission, pre-enrol on Universitaly for the type D study visa. Enrolment needs a declaration of value or a CIMEA statement of comparability.
