PoliTo's Electrical Engineering master asks for a bachelor's degree at EQF level 6 or an equivalent qualification, ideally in electrical and electronic, ICT, mechanical or industrial engineering, plus English at B2 with IELTS 5.5 as the minimum score. There is no written test: an academic committee reviews your record and syllabus, and the English edition adds an online interview. Reviewed 8 October 2026. [1]
Degree requirement
You need a bachelor's degree at EQF level 6, or an equivalent qualification from an accredited foreign university that gives access to second-cycle study. [2] Students in a five or six-year single-cycle programme can apply before graduating if they have at least 15 years of schooling in total, three of them at university, and at least 180 ECTS or equivalent. [2]

- Industrial engineering, which Politecnico defines as mechanical, aerospace, biomedical, chemical and food, materials, automotive, industrial engineering and management, electrical and energy engineering
The requirements do not set a minimum credit block or a minimum grade. An academic committee judges your academic performance and whether your first degree fits the programme. [2]
What this means for your transcript
Your transcript must show the grading system and your GPA or CGPA, and the committee reads it with your course syllabus. [2] As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Electrical, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics, Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace or Energy Engineering.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech in Computer Science, IT or Civil Engineering. These branches are not named on the recommended list, so the committee weighs how much electrical and electronic content your syllabus shows.
- Often short: a B.Sc. in Physics or Mathematics, a BCA, or a B.Com, BBA or BA, which sit outside the engineering fields on the list.
English
The English edition needs English at CEFR B2 or above, with IELTS 5.5 listed as the minimum score. Other certificates on Politecnico's accepted list also count, and TOEFL results are shared with code C285. [1][2]
You are exempt if your qualification was awarded in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand, or after an English-medium path at a school or university in a listed country, which includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore, Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya. The Italian edition, Ingegneria Elettrica, is taught partly in Italian and asks for Italian B2 as well as IELTS 5.5. [1]
Selection: committee review and online interview
There is no written entrance test and access is uncapped, subject to the evaluation of your requirements. [3] The evaluation has two steps: [2]
- The Recruitment and Admissions Unit checks that you meet the requirements and have uploaded every document.
- An academic committee assesses your academic performance and curricular background for the programme.
For Electrical Engineering, the course syllabus is required and the 2026/27 requirements list an online interview. [1] You can apply to up to two master's programmes per call, in order of preference, with a non-refundable fee of €50. Applications cannot be changed after submission, and an incomplete application is rejected for the whole academic year. [2]
Results are eligible, a conditional offer if you still need to finish your bachelor's, or not eligible. Offers are valid only for the year you apply for, with no deferral. [2]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, applicants with a non-Italian qualification had two calls: [2]
- First call: 19 December 2025 to 13 February 2026 at 2 p.m. Italian time, with results on 15 April 2026 and an indicative Universitaly deadline of 30 June 2026.
- Second call: 18 March to 20 April 2026 at 2 p.m. Italian time, with results on 22 June 2026 and an indicative Universitaly deadline of 15 July 2026.
- Enrolment: online from 31 July to 5 October 2026, with enrolment documents uploaded by 5 October 2026 and the type D study visa uploaded by 30 November 2026.
A later third call was reserved for EU applicants and non-EU applicants already living in Italy. The 2027/28 calls are not yet published and will set the new dates. [2]

- Your bachelor's degree certificate, or an official university document with your provisional graduation date if you have not graduated yet.
- Your official transcript of records, listing all exams, the grading system and your GPA or CGPA.
- Your course syllabus or course descriptions.
- Your English certificate or proof of exemption.
For enrolment you need a declaration of value, a CIMEA statement of comparability or a Diploma Supplement. An ARDI certificate of correspondence can replace the CIMEA statement, and Politecnico strongly recommends the CIMEA verification certificate. [2]
Politecnico validates your Universitaly pre-enrolment only once your application is eligible and your bachelor's degree is documented. Some consulates also ask for the declaration of value or CIMEA documents for the visa, so we prepare them with your file. [2]

About the programme
Electrical Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-28 at Politecnico di Torino, taught on the main campus in Turin.
From 2026/27 the degree has a new English edition, Electrical Engineering, that you can follow with English only, alongside the Italian edition, Ingegneria Elettrica, which is taught partly in Italian.

Electrical engineering has deep roots in Turin: in 1889 Galileo Ferraris founded the city's School of Electrotechnics, the first in Italy.
Today the programme places electrical engineers at the centre of the energy transition, as the people who make it possible to adopt renewable sources, electrify industrial processes and convert transport to electric mobility, on the way to a society that no longer depends on fossil fuels.
It suits graduates in electrical, electronic, ICT, mechanical or other industrial engineering fields.

The English edition of Electrical Engineering is built around the technologies that drive the energy transition. The programme page names three areas where electrical engineers play a key role:

The degree is organised in specialist tracks. Students on the Impiantistico progettuale track, on plant design, can use the Twin Track scheme to obtain a second master's in Energy and Nuclear Engineering in one extra year.
