About the programme

Electronic Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-29 at Politecnico di Torino, taught on the main campus in Turin. The degree runs in Italian and English: its English edition, Electronic Engineering, can be followed with English only, while the Italian edition, Ingegneria Elettronica, is taught partly in Italian. Access is uncapped, subject to an evaluation of your admission requirements.

Electronics sits behind most everyday products and services, from smartphones to electromedical instruments. The programme trains electronic engineers for research, design and development at the frontiers of technology: people who manage complex projects with performance at the limit of what is technically feasible, use advanced components and methods, and develop new components and tailor-made subsystems as integrated circuits or systems-on-chip. It suits graduates in any field of engineering or in physics.

What you will study

The degree is organised in specialist tracks that take you from circuit design to complete electronic systems. Tracks named for the programme include:

• Embedded systems
• Integrated circuits, systems and architectures
• Radio frequency systems design
• Design of power and analog electronics

Across the tracks, the focus is on designing integrated circuits and systems-on-chip and on the methods used to build them. The programme pages seen do not say which tracks run in the English edition, so check the track list for your intake.

How the programme is taught

Students can apply for double master's degrees with partners in the United States (the TOP-UIC special project in Chicago), France (EURECOM, Paris and Nice) and Argentina (University of Córdoba). Exchange partners include EPFL, KTH, TU Darmstadt, INSA Lyon, UPC Barcelona and the polytechnic universities of Madrid and Valencia. The page also lists thesis hosts abroad such as TU Munich, Fraunhofer AISEC, Texas Instruments, VTT in Finland and the University of California, Berkeley. Students with a non-Italian qualification must reach Italian at A2 level before they graduate.

Career paths

The programme page describes the electronic engineer as one of the most requested profiles because of the breadth of their skills. It reports that 90% of its graduates find a job less than one year after graduation and 97.6% within three years. Graduates work in research, design and development, on components, integrated circuits, embedded and radio frequency systems, and power and analogue electronics.

Fees and scholarships

Tuition at Politecnico di Torino is set according to citizenship or residence, and students can apply for a reduction linked to family income, with the figures fixed in the yearly fee rules. Scholarships and university housing come from EDISU Piemonte, the regional right-to-study body, which accepts applications from international students. A family living abroad provides foreign income and asset documents so that EDISU can calculate an ISEE parificato.

How to apply from outside the EU

For the English edition of Electronic Engineering, a bachelor's in any engineering field or in physics is recommended, and the syllabus of your courses is not required. Applications go through Apply@PoliTO, where you can choose up to two master's programmes in order of preference and pay a €50 non-refundable fee. For 2026/27 the first call closed on 13 February 2026 and the second on 20 April 2026; dates for 2027/28 were not yet published in September 2026.

After admission, complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment needed for a type D study visa. To enrol you also need a declaration of value or a CIMEA statement of comparability.
