About the programme

Building Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree in class LM-24 (Construction Engineering) at Politecnico di Torino in Turin. It has an English edition, Building Engineering, that you can follow with English only, and an Italian edition, Ingegneria Edile, taught partly in Italian. Access is uncapped, subject to an evaluation of your admission requirements.

As a building engineer you learn to see the building as a complex system, both in its subsystems and in its environment, and to develop projects in the construction sector. The programme aims to teach you how to define new management, prevention and intervention models through a multidisciplinary approach: analysing, synthesising, designing and checking each area of action with innovative technologies, starting from a thorough knowledge of the past. It suits graduates in civil, building or architectural engineering and in architecture.

What you will study

The English edition of Building Engineering prepares you for the main fields of work in construction that the programme page lists:

• Management and organisation of real estate transactions
• Design, management and organisation of the building process
• Survey and evaluation of building assets
• Construction site safety, under Legislative Decree 81/2008
• Fire safety, under Italian ministerial fire regulations

Career paths

The programme page describes a future with opportunities in different professional fields of the construction industry. Graduates can work on building projects and on the organisation of the building process, on the survey and valuation of real estate assets and on real estate transactions, and in construction site safety and fire safety, roles that combine technical design with management.

Fees and scholarships

Politecnico di Torino bases tuition on citizenship or residence and grants reductions linked to family income, with the figures set out in each year's fee rules. EDISU Piemonte, the body for the right to study in the region, runs the calls for scholarships and university housing, which international students can enter. When your family lives abroad, you hand in foreign income and asset documents so EDISU can calculate an ISEE parificato.

How to apply from outside the EU

Building Engineering recommends a bachelor's in civil, building or architectural engineering or in architecture, and the syllabus of your previous courses is required. Applications are made on Apply@PoliTO, with a €50 non-refundable fee and up to two master's programmes in order of preference. For 2026/27 the first call ended on 13 February 2026 and the second on 20 April 2026; the 2027/28 calls were not published in September 2026.

After admission you pre-enrol on Universitaly, the step the type D study visa depends on. A declaration of value or a CIMEA statement of comparability is needed to enrol.
