Tuition at the University of Cagliari follows family income, measured by the ISEE, and the faculty. Study can be tuition-free for eligible students who win a DSU scholarship.
An ISEE up to €24,335.11 falls in the no-tax area, where first-year students pay no contribution. Above it, the contribution rises band by band (20 bands in all) with the ISEE and the faculty, and the top band applies above an ISEE of €87,723.05 or with no ISEE. Students from particularly poor countries or countries at war, with a certificate from the Italian mission, have their ISEE counted as zero. ERSU Cagliari scholarship winners and eligible students are exempt from the contribution and the regional tax.
Students with no ISEE, or no ISEE parificato by 31 December 2026, pay their faculty's top band. Fees are paid in three instalments, by 1 October 2026, 1 March 2027 and 30 June 2027.

Students with family income abroad get an ISEE parificato Università from a CAF, using the family's home-country income and asset documents, and hand it to their student office by 31 December 2026. Cagliari has no flat fee by country, so the normal ISEE bands then apply. Source: Cagliari fee regulation, Article 29.
Worked example: With a family ISEE parificato of €15,000 filed by 31 December 2026, a first-year student from India is inside the no-tax area and pays no contribution. Without it, the faculty's top band applies. We prepare the documents with you, file them with the university and prepare the ERSU Cagliari scholarship application with you at the same time.
Non-EU students living abroad apply to the University of Cagliari course by course. For English-taught Medicine, the IMAT registration and the Universitaly pre-enrolment come before the non-EU ranking, while each master's sets its own procedure in its call. The 2027/28 calls are not out yet, and the university decides admission and the consulate the visa.

Yes, most do. Among Cagliari's master's graduates of 2024, 75.2% were in work about a year later, with mean net pay of €1,380 (₹1.5 lakh) a month, according to AlmaLaurea. Five years after graduating, 94.1% of the 2020 master's graduates were in work, earning €1,747 (₹1.9 lakh) a month on average.

Cagliari students apply for the regional DSU scholarship through ERSU Cagliari. For 2026/27 the family ISEE limit is €28,339.88 (₹31.1 lakh), and the top grant for a student living away from home is €7,515.76 (₹8.3 lakh) a year. Winners are also exempt from the university's yearly contribution, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students.

For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Cagliari or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.

The University of Cagliari has 18 places for non-EU applicants living abroad on its English-taught Medicine and Surgery course in 2026/27: 16 in the general non-EU ranking and 2 for Chinese students in the Marco Polo programme.
