- Usually a fit: an Indian Class 12 certificate from CBSE, CISCE or a state board, a Pakistani HSSC, a Bangladeshi HSC, or Sri Lankan or Cambridge A levels, where your schooling totals at least 12 years.

The admission test
Entry is through a national admission test prepared by CINECA. For 2026/27 it was held on 29 September 2026 at 1:30 pm at the Presidio San Niccolò in Siena, and at test sites in other countries with the time adjusted to the local time zone. The test lasts 100 minutes. [1]
- 60 multiple-choice questions with five options each: 4 on reading skills and knowledge from school studies, 5 on logical reasoning and problems, 23 on biology, 15 on chemistry and 13 on physics and maths.
- Scoring: 1.5 points for a correct answer, minus 0.4 for a wrong one and zero for a blank, up to 90 points.
- EU and equivalent applicants need at least 20 points to be eligible. Non-EU applicants living abroad need a score above zero, and those who answer no questions are not ranked.
- Countries with test sites in 2026 included India, Pakistan, the UAE (Dubai), Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA and Canada. [4]

Non-EU applicants and enrolment
- Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a visa and sit the test in Siena must arrive with their passport and a valid entry visa, or they are excluded. After registering for the test in Siena, proof of the test payment goes to Siena's Admission Office and the Universitaly visa pre-enrolment follows, with validation subject to reservation.
- Winners with a foreign qualification must obtain clearance (nulla osta) before online enrolment, through a check of their study documents and permit of stay on Siena's DreamApply platform, by the deadlines in the call.
- The assessment of foreign qualifications for access costs a non-refundable €49.90.
- Enrolment is completed online by paying the first fee instalment, and a medical fitness check is required for the clinical training.

About the programme
Dentistry and Dental Prosthodontics is a six-year single-cycle degree (laurea magistrale a ciclo unico) in class LM-46, worth 360 ECTS and taught in English. It is run by the Department of Medical Biotechnologies, with lectures at the Centro Didattico Le Scotte and clinical work at the Santa Maria alle Scotte university hospital in Siena. The university presents it as the first English-language dentistry degree in Italy.

How the programme is taught
Internship units of your choice start in the fourth year, and the sixth year is centred on integrated oral and dental therapy, worth 49 ECTS, before an 8 ECTS final exam. [3] The final exam starts with a practical evaluation of three clinical cases you treated as first operator during the 750-hour (30 CFU) practical evaluation internship, followed by the discussion of a thesis written in English. Attendance of at least 75% is compulsory, and you need 140 CFU by 30 September of year 3 to move into year 4. [2] The course states that students may spend a year abroad at partner institutions in Europe, the USA and Japan.
Career paths
Graduates can work as dentists in private practice or public hospitals. The degree also gives access to postgraduate specialty schools, such as oral surgery or orthodontics, and to master's and PhD programmes. The final exam qualifies graduates to practise as dentists in Italy once they register with the professional register. [2]

Siena sets fees from the Italian ISEE and does not accept an ISEE parificato. Dentistry sits in the highest fee band and carries an extra course contribution under the 2026/27 regulation, and students without a valid ISEE pay the top band adjusted by a country coefficient. DSU Toscana winners and eligible students are exempt, so the degree can be tuition-free for eligible students.
