How the programme is taught
Clinical internships run from the fourth year, and the sixth year is centred on integrated oral and dental therapy, worth 49 ECTS, before an 8 ECTS final thesis. The course states that students may spend a year abroad at partner institutions in Europe, the USA and Japan.
Career paths
Graduates can work as dentists in private practice or public hospitals. The degree also gives access to postgraduate specialty schools, such as oral surgery or orthodontics, and to master's and PhD programmes. Practising in Italy requires passing the state qualifying process and registering with the professional register.
Fees and scholarships
Siena sets fees from the Italian ISEE and does not accept an ISEE parificato. Dentistry sits in the highest fee band and carries an extra course contribution under the 2026/27 regulation, and students without a valid ISEE pay the top band adjusted by a country coefficient. DSU Toscana winners and eligible students are exempt, so the degree can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
Entry is through the national English-language admission test. For 2026/27, candidates registered on Universitaly from 26 August to 9 September 2026 for the test on 29 September 2026, held in Italy and at test centres abroad. Non-EU applicants living abroad also need authorisation from the Siena Admission Office, based on their study documents and passport.
Admitted students then complete the visa process. The 2027/28 dates are not out yet.
