Eligibility for the University of Siena's Master in Applied Mathematics depends on your degree, mathematics background, personal preparation and English. Qualifying bachelor's degree

The regulations provide two academic routes: a mathematics qualification, or one of the listed related qualifications supported by the required mathematics credits. Meeting a degree route does not remove the separate check of personal preparation and English. [1, Article 5]

• Mathematics route: an Italian bachelor's degree in class L-35, or the equivalent mathematics class under the older degree system, or a foreign qualification accepted as equivalent.
• Related-degree route: civil/environmental engineering (L-7), information engineering (L-8), industrial engineering (L-9), business administration (L-18), chemistry (L-27), physics (L-30), computer science (L-31), economics (L-33) or statistics (L-41), with at least 36 CFU in mathematics sectors MAT/xx.

The 36-credit mathematics requirement

The 36 CFU condition belongs to the related-degree route. It is a subject-specific requirement, not a requirement to have 36 credits in any combination of science subjects. The programme identifies the Italian mathematics sectors MAT/xx. A degree title such as engineering or economics therefore needs to be checked together with the mathematics examinations in the transcript. [1, Article 5]

For a foreign qualification, the Teaching Committee assesses whether the previous studies satisfy the relevant degree and curricular requirements. Do not treat a local credit total or the name of a foreign degree as an automatic equivalence decision. [1, Article 5]

Foreign qualifications and degree duration

A foreign first degree must have been awarded after a programme lasting at least three years. The Teaching Committee checks the duration and whether the subjects studied are appropriate to the qualifying degree classes. This assessment concerns your actual academic record, rather than citizenship alone. The programme's foreign-applicant procedure uses the university's online application system. [1, Article 5]

English proficiency

English must be at least CEFR B2. The Teaching Committee must establish this as part of the quality assessment. The cited programme regulation states the proficiency level; it does not provide an IELTS or TOEFL score conversion in Article 5. Personal preparation and oral interview

Applicants normally undergo an oral assessment of their preparation. Exemption requires both conditions below, not just one. The 95/110 figure is an interview-exemption condition in this regulation; it should not be presented as a universal minimum grade for submitting an application. [1, Article 5]

• A final bachelor's grade of at least 95/110.
• At least six credits in total in MAT/01 and/or MAT/02: mathematical logic and algebra. Geometry is MAT/03 and is not the sector named in this exemption.

Interview exemption for foreign graduates

The Teaching Committee decides whether a foreign graduate meets conditions equivalent to the two interview-exemption requirements. A percentage, CGPA or degree classification should not be converted into 95/110 by an applicant and treated as a binding university decision. Applicants who have not graduated yet

The regulation allows graduating students to attend the admission assessment after requesting pre-enrolment to the master's programme. This is permission to enter the assessment procedure; it is not permission to complete final enrolment without obtaining the qualifying degree. Prepare a clear record of your qualification, programme duration, completed examinations and mathematics credits so the committee can assess the degree route and, where relevant, the interview exemption. Which bachelor's degrees qualify?
