Master in Tourism Management and Sustainability at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice

About the programme

Tourism Management and Sustainability is a two-year master's degree in class LM-49-R (Tourism development and management), taught entirely in English by Ca' Foscari's Venice School of Management at the Economics Campus in Venice. It carries 120 ECTS, admission is open subject to an assessment of each applicant, and attendance is not compulsory. It was renamed from Intercultural Development of Tourism Systems in 2025/26 and is now taught in English.

The degree prepares professionals to shape the future of tourism by combining management skills with a commitment to sustainability: digitalising tourism businesses, promoting sustainable development models and innovating tourism services. It suits graduates in business, economics, law or languages who want to manage tourism firms or destinations.

What you will study

You choose between two tracks. Tourism Business Management focuses on the operational management of tourism enterprises within their destinations, and Tourism Governance on development policies and the economic dynamics of tourism systems. Units in the 2026/27 common pathway include:

How the programme is taught

Teaching uses Design Thinking, Lean Startup and Business Model Design on real cases from partner companies, with practical workshops and internships at institutions and companies in global tourism markets. The degree ends with a curricular internship, in Italy or abroad, and a final thesis. A double degree with EM Strasbourg Business School is available, and Erasmus+ and Overseas exchanges run through more than 1,500 partner institutions. Non-Italian students earn 3 ECTS in Italian before graduating.

Graduates work in tourism businesses, destinations and public bodies. The university lists:

Fees and scholarships

This degree follows Ca' Foscari's standard non-EU fee rule: a flat yearly rate by citizenship. For master's students in 2026/27 that is €1,300 for most countries, including countries like India, €700 for low human development countries on the ministry list and €2,300 for OECD countries, with regional tax and stamp duty included. Students who qualify for the Veneto regional scholarship with an ISEE parificato are exempt from fees, giving zero euro tuition for eligible students.

How to apply from outside the EU

Non-EU candidates who need a visa take an online written entry test, governed by its own call, which gives a first assessment of their preparation. You apply on apply.unive.it with your transcript, CV, English certificate and a motivation letter for this degree, and need a CGPA of at least 70%. The €30 fee covers two ranked programmes. For 2026/27 the portal opened on 17 December 2025 in rounds by citizenship; the 2027/28 rounds and test dates are pending.

After an eligibility letter you complete Universitaly pre-enrolment and request a type D study visa. For enrolment you need a CIMEA Statement of Comparability, a declaration of value, an ARDI statement with CIMEA verification, or a Diploma Supplement.
