Health Economics is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree (class LM-56) taught entirely in English at Sapienza University of Rome, covering health policy, pharmacoeconomics, econometrics and health law. About the programme
Health Economics is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM-56, economics) worth 120 ECTS, taught entirely in English at Sapienza University of Rome by the Department of Economics and Law. How the programme is taught
Before classes start, the Faculty of Economics runs free crash courses in macroeconomics and mathematics, in English, for new students of Health Economics and two other economics masters; in 2026 they ran from 7 to 18 September. Laboratory activities during the degree build teamwork and the ability to present complex results to different audiences.

- Health economist, analysing demand and supply of care, regulation and policy impact with econometric methods

Typical employers are regional health authorities and regulators, ministries, health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, consultancies, research bodies, NGOs and international organisations. The degree also prepares for PhD study in economics or health policy.
Fees and scholarships
Sapienza does not ask students with income abroad for an Italian ISEE: they pay a flat yearly amount set by country band. The 2025/26 rules, the latest published, set €300 for Band A (which covers countries like India, Nigeria and Pakistan), €700 for Band B and €1,500 for Band C; 2026/27 amounts follow after 30 September 2026. Students who win or qualify for a DiSCo Lazio grant pay €30, so the degree can be tuition-free for eligible students.
