You need a bachelor's degree of at least three years (180 ECTS or equivalent) from an accredited institution, which gives access to further study in its own country. Not every international undergraduate degree allows enrolment in an Italian master's. [2][4]
Degrees in biotechnology, biology, agriculture and forestry, environmental sciences or earth sciences (Italian classes L-2, L-13, L-25, L-32 and L-34, or equivalent) generally meet the curricular requirements. Graduates in other fields need: [2][3]
- At least 60 ECTS in the listed fields: physics, computer science and information processing, mathematics, statistics, chemistry, industrial and civil engineering, biology, earth sciences, agriculture, law, geography and economics.
- At least 18 of them in chemistry, biology and ecology, or earth sciences.
Missing credits must be made up before enrolment through single bachelor's-level courses at Ca' Foscari or another accredited institution. [3]
You also need a minimum CGPA between 70% and 85%, depending on the country where you studied. Your grades are measured on your university's own scale if you provide it, and otherwise converted proportionally to a percentage. [2]
What this means for your transcript
Ca' Foscari counts one ECTS credit as about 25 hours of work, and for countries outside the Bologna Process the Teaching Committee uses this to check your subjects, not just your total. [4] As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Sc. in Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Geology, Agriculture or Forestry.

The Global Change and Sustainability curriculum needs English at CEFR level B2, which is mandatory for enrolment. You can apply without a certificate, but you must provide one, or qualify for one of Ca' Foscari's exemption categories, to complete enrolment. Ca' Foscari runs no English test during admission. About the programme
Environmental Sciences is a two-year master's degree in class LM-75-R (Environmental and land sciences), taught at Ca' Foscari's Scientific Campus in Venice Mestre.
The degree is Italian and English: of its three curricula, Global Change and Sustainability is taught in English, while Monitoring and Remediation of the Environment and Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services are taught in Italian.
