Perugia's Engineering Management master asks for a three-year bachelor's degree: an Italian engineering degree in class L-8 or L-9 gives direct access, and other degrees need at least 85 credits in set subject groups. Degree and credit requirements
You need a first-level (three-year) degree, or a foreign qualification recognised as suitable. Access is direct with an Italian bachelor's in information engineering (class L-8) or industrial engineering (class L-9). [1]
Without an L-8 or L-9 engineering degree, you need at least 85 CFU across four groups: [1]
- At least 10 CFU in physics (PHYS-01/A and PHYS-03/A).
- At least 15 CFU in mathematics, statistics or computing (MATH-02/A, 02/B, 03/A, 03/B, 04/A and 06/A, STAT-01/B and 04/A, IINF-05/A and INFO-01/A).
- At least 25 CFU in core management engineering: manufacturing technology, industrial plants, engineering economics and management, and automation (IIND-04/A, IIND-05/A, IEGE-01/A and IINF-04/A).
- At least 35 CFU in wider engineering, law or economics: sectors such as energy and thermal engineering, applied mechanics and machine design, electrical engineering, electronics, telecommunications, computer engineering, private law and business economics, plus the core sectors above (IIND-02/A, 03/A, 03/B, 03/C, 04/A, 05/A, 06/A, 06/B, 07/A, 07/D, 08/A and 08/B, IIET-01/A, IINF-01/A, 03/A, 04/A and 05/A, IEGE-01/A, GIUR-02/A, ECON-07/A and 08/A).
Credits in sectors listed in both of the last two groups count first towards the 25-credit group. Only credits earned through university exams count, not certified professional skills. Students who do not meet these curricular requirements are not admitted. [1]
For a foreign degree, a dedicated committee assesses the curricular requirements from the certified record of your studies. [1]
What this means for your transcript
Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and the committee looks at your subjects, not only your total. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical, Industrial, Production or Mechatronics Engineering, which usually covers physics, maths, manufacturing, industrial engineering and control subjects.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech or B.E. in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, Civil or Chemical Engineering. These usually cover physics, maths and computing but need a close look for 25 credits in manufacturing, industrial plants, engineering economics and automation.
- Often short: a BBA, B.Com, BCA, B.Sc. or BA, which usually lack the 10 physics credits and the engineering groups.

The 2025/26 regulations ask for a certificate of English at CEFR level B2 or equivalent. Students who do not need a visa can enrol without it but must obtain it by the end of the first year, or they cannot take exams from the following year. [1]
For 2026/27, the Engineering Management visa call made a B2 certificate from UniPG's accepted list mandatory, and applications with an MOI letter or a different certificate were rejected. [2] The accepted list includes: [4]
- IELTS in the 5.5 to 6.5 band
- TOEFL iBT in the 72 to 94 range
- PTE General Level 3, Trinity ISE II or LanguageCert International ESOL B2 Communicator
- The Oxford Test of English at B2, Cambridge IGCSE or the Gatehouse Awards Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International (Classic B2)

Selection
There is no entrance test, and the 2026/27 catalogue lists the degree with open access. [5] The 2025/26 regulations set a sustainable intake of 80 students. [1]
Once your curricular requirements are confirmed, the department assesses your preparation by reviewing your past studies, in particular your CV and the exams in your bachelor's degree, with an interview where it considers one necessary. It can set catch-up activities if needed. [1]
On the PICA portal, the pre-evaluation outcome can be admitted, admitted upon condition, sent to committee or rejected. [2]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, non-EU applicants living abroad applied on the PICA portal under call 2026-visa-06, shared by the Engineering Management bachelor's and master's degrees and open until 21 August 2026. This was later than UniPG's general visa call, which ran from 29 May to 7 June 2026. [2] The 2027/28 call sets the new dates.
In 2026, CIMEA's platform did not accept new requests from 30 March to 13 April, 19 to 26 July and 23 to 30 August, so statements are best requested well before the call closes. [3]
Documents and non-EU steps
For a foreign degree, UniPG asks for: [3]
- Your bachelor's degree certificate and official transcript of records in the original language, with an official Italian translation unless they are in English, French or Spanish
- A Diploma Supplement, if you have one, legalised or with an apostille
- Your CV and the programme of your exams or course syllabi
- Your English B2 certificate
- A CIMEA statement of verification (or legalisation or an apostille of the degree) and a CIMEA statement of comparability, or instead a declaration of value from the Italian diplomatic mission, an ENIC-NARIC certificate or a statement from the ARDI database
After a positive PICA outcome you complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, which is needed to start the study visa application, and apply for the visa at the Italian mission in your country of residence. Enrolment on UniPG's SOL portal and payment of the first instalment happen only after you arrive in Italy. [2]

Engineering Management is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale) in class LM-31, management engineering, worth 120 ECTS. The Department of Engineering of the University of Perugia runs it in English on its Perugia campus. It started in 2025/26, so 2026/27 is the first year with both years of the course active. How the programme is taught
Teaching mixes lectures, tutorials, lab work, group projects and industrial case studies, with project work and interim assessments alongside written and oral exams. The department says lessons are mainly in person, with the option to follow them live online when needed.
The course ends with an internship and a thesis, which can be a project on a company case, work in one of the department's laboratories or a theoretical study. Internships run inside the department or at partner companies, and students can take Erasmus mobility during the degree.
