Degree requirement
You need an Italian first-level degree in business economics and management (L-18), economics (L-33) or political science and international relations (L-36), or the equivalent older classes. A foreign qualification in economics or business that corresponds to a first-level degree also qualifies if the degree council finds it suitable. [1]
Without one of these degrees, the council checks your transcript for at least 60 credits across at least three of these four areas: [1]
- Business: AGR/01, SECS-P/07, SECS-P/08, SECS-P/09, SECS-P/10, SECS-P/11 and SECS-P/13 (accounting, management, corporate finance, organisation and financial intermediaries).
- Economics: SECS-P/01, SECS-P/02, SECS-P/03, SECS-P/05, SECS-P/06 and SECS-P/12.
- Law: IUS/01, IUS/04, IUS/05, IUS/06, IUS/07, IUS/09, IUS/12, IUS/13 and IUS/14.
- Statistics and maths: MAT/09, SECS-S/01, SECS-S/03 and SECS-S/06.
If you are short of credits in these areas, the council sets additional learning requirements. You clear them by passing specific exams at Perugia or another university, for example as single courses, before the personal preparation check. [1]

As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Com, BBA, BMS, or a BA or B.Sc. in Economics, as these are degrees in economics or business.
- Check carefully: a BA in Political Science or International Relations, or a B.Sc. in Statistics or Mathematics. The foreign-degree route names economics or business, so the council may count your credits across the four areas instead.
- Often short: a B.Tech, B.E., BCA or a science B.Sc. These usually carry few business, economics or law credits, so the council may set extra exams before you can be admitted.

The check is passed automatically if your bachelor's final grade is at least 90/110. With a lower grade, the degree council reviews your previous studies and, if it sees the need, asks a committee to hold a preliminary interview. The regulations do not give a conversion for foreign grading scales. [1]

For international applicants to English-taught programmes, UniPG asks for a B2 certificate from its accepted list, which includes IELTS 5.5 to 6.5, TOEFL iBT 72 to 94, PTE General Level 3, Trinity ISE 2, LanguageCert International ESOL B2 Communicator and the Oxford Test of English B2. Non-EU applicants living abroad first apply for pre-evaluation on the PICA portal with a passport copy, their foreign qualification, any language certificates and a CV. Outcomes are admitted, admitted upon condition, sent to committee (the academic review for master's files) or rejected. Each candidate can submit only one application, for one programme. [2]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, the general PICA pre-evaluation window for non-EU applicants living abroad ran from 29 May to 7 June 2026. [2] The next call sets the 2027/28 dates.
Students finishing a bachelor's can complete enrolment only if, on graduating, they meet the curricular, personal preparation and B1 English requirements. [1]
Documents and non-EU steps
- Study documents: your bachelor's degree certificate and official transcript, with an official Italian translation unless they are in English, French or Spanish, plus a CIMEA statement of verification and comparability or a declaration of value from the Italian mission. A legalised or apostilled Diploma Supplement can certify completed studies if it shows everything needed for the evaluation. [4]

About the programme
Economics and Management (Economia e management) is a two-year master's degree (laurea magistrale, class LM-77 R, business and management) at the University of Perugia, taught in Perugia (code M0206). It has two curricula: Economia e management dell'innovazione, in Italian, and International business, which UniPG lists as taught entirely in English.
The International business curriculum suits graduates in economics or business who want to work on foreign markets, marketing and supply chains, and who need a path fully in English.
What you will study
The curriculum mixes international economics with marketing, finance and operations. For students starting in 2026/27, the regulations set these International business units: [1]
- First year: International Marketing, EU Financial Regulation, Economics of International Business, Economic and Financial Policies for Development, Econometrics and Business Statistics, plus a Laboratory of International Business.
- Second year: Advanced Financial Accounting, Economics of International Markets, Applied Corporate Finance, Consumer Behaviour and International Supply Chain Management.
How the programme is taught
The first year also includes a 6-credit curricular internship, which you can start once you have 35 credits, and a 9-credit elective. The second year includes a 3-credit English course at B2 level and ends with a 15-credit final thesis, written and defended in Italian or English. At UniPG tuition is based on family income (ISEE) and merit, so the programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. Non-EU students with income and assets abroad may instead apply for a flat tax set by their country's bracket; the window is 3 August to 20 October 2026. Eligible students can apply for the A.Di.S.U. Umbria regional scholarship.
