Decision Science is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree (class LM-55) taught in English by the Inter-university Department of Physics at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. It combines cognitive science, data analysis and business decision-making, with open access. As a public university programme, it can be tuition-free for eligible students.
Entry requirements
- A bachelor's degree in class L-8, L-9, L-18, L-24, L-30, L-31, L-33, L-35 or L-41 (engineering, business, psychology, physics, computer science, economics, maths or statistics), or an equivalent foreign degree.
- Graduates of other degrees need at least 30 credits in physics and maths, psychology, economics, management and statistics, or industrial and information engineering.
- English at B2 or above, shown by an internationally recognised certificate; without one, a committee checks your level in an interview.
- Open access with no entrance test: a committee of the programme director and two professors verifies your preparation, and any missing credits must be earned first.
- Foreign qualifications are pre-evaluated on apply.uniba.it, with a €30 fee per programme.
About the programme
Decision Science is a two-year laurea magistrale in class LM-55 (cognitive sciences), taught in English by the Inter-university Department of Physics of the University of Bari Aldo Moro. It carries 120 ECTS, is taught in Bari and is open access, with no cap on places.
The programme brings together cognitive science, machine learning, artificial intelligence and market analysis. It aims to build advanced skills in data analysis and decision-making, so that graduates can interpret economic phenomena and support strategic business decisions. It suits graduates in engineering, economics, business, psychology, physics, maths, statistics or computer science who want to work where data meets human behaviour.
What you will study
The first year gives everyone a common core in psychology, economics and physics-based data methods, with one lab in each semester. In the second year you pick one unit from each of two option groups, add 12 ECTS of electives, and complete an internship and a dissertation. Course units in the published plan include:

How the programme is taught
Teaching runs in two semesters, each followed by an exam period. Attendance is strongly recommended and is mandatory for laboratory courses. The plan includes team work and workshops, a 10 ECTS internship and a 10 ECTS final dissertation.
The faculty is international, and managers from national and global companies and institutions take part in teaching. Because students arrive from different bachelor's degrees, the programme also runs crash courses in the main disciplines.
Career paths
The department presents the degree as training for the next generation of business analysts: people who combine data analysis with an understanding of cognition and behaviour to support strategic decisions in companies and institutions. Internships, workshops and partnerships with universities and companies abroad are designed to help graduates stand out on the job market, and the university's job placement and traineeship services support the move into work.
Fees and scholarships
Under UniBa's 2026/27 fee regulation, non-EU students whose family income and assets are held only abroad pay a fixed yearly contribution set by country group. Students with income or assets in Italy use the ISEE or ISEE parificato, with full exemption from the all-inclusive contribution up to an ISEE of €26,000. Students eligible for an ADISU Puglia scholarship are also exempt, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. The regional tax and stamp duty are paid separately.

There is no ranking: a committee checks your degree class or credits and your English. If you have no English certificate, you are interviewed before admission.
Every applicant with a foreign qualification first requests a pre-evaluation on apply.uniba.it, which costs €30. For 2026/27, the deadline was 30 June 2026 for non-EU students needing a visa. After a positive outcome you pre-enrol on Universitaly and apply for a type D study visa.
