UniBa's Decision Science master is open access. It asks for a bachelor's in one of nine listed degree classes or a recognised foreign equivalent, or any degree with at least 30 credits in set subject groups, plus English at B2 and a committee check of your preparation. Reviewed 8 October 2026. [1]

Degree requirement

You need a bachelor's degree in one of these Italian classes, or a recognised foreign equivalent: [1]

• L-8 information engineering or L-9 industrial engineering
• L-18 business economics and management, or L-33 economics
• L-24 psychology
• L-30 physics, L-31 computer science, L-35 mathematics or L-41 statistics

Graduates of other degrees can apply if they hold at least 30 CFU in one or more of these groups: [1]

• Physics and mathematics: experimental, theoretical and applied physics, mathematical logic, mathematical analysis, probability and mathematical statistics, mathematical physics, numerical analysis and operations research.
• Psychology: general psychology, neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience, psychometrics, social psychology, and work and organisational psychology.
• Economics and statistics: political economics, economic policy, econometrics, applied economics, business economics, management, statistics, and mathematical methods for economics and finance.
• Industrial and information engineering: information processing systems (ING-INF/05) and management engineering (ING-IND/35).

A foreign degree is assessed on its length, credits and subject content, and it must give access to second-cycle (master's) study in the country that awarded it. Any missing credits must be earned before the committee checks your preparation. [1]

What this means for your transcript

Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit: one CFU stands for 25 hours of student work, and the committee looks at your subjects, not just your total. As a guide, based on the rule above:

• Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Computer Science, IT, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, a B.Com, BBA or BA in Economics, or a B.Sc. in Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or Psychology, as these sit close to the listed degree areas.
• Check carefully: a BCA or B.Sc. IT, or an engineering degree outside information or industrial engineering, such as Civil Engineering. The committee may look to the 30-credit route, so we count your maths, physics, statistics, economics and computing units against the listed groups.
• Often short: a BA in humanities, or a B.Sc. in Biology or Chemistry with little maths, statistics, economics or psychology.

English

English at CEFR level B2 or higher. You show it with a language certificate; if you have none, the committee checks your level in an interview before admission. The regulations do not list specific tests or scores. [1][3]

Selection and preparation check

There is no entrance test and no cap on places. A committee made up of the programme coordinator and two professors, covering psychology, physics and management, checks your credits and your scientific and language preparation from your documents and, where needed, an interview that can be held online. For applicants with a foreign degree, the committee reviews the file and invites the candidate to an interview. [1]

The programme also offers crash courses in its core subjects, with attendance suggested according to your first degree. [1]

2026/27 deadlines

For 2026/27, non-EU applicants who need a visa had until 30 June 2026 to request the pre-evaluation of their qualification on UniBa's DreamApply portal. Universitaly pre-enrolment for open-access programmes was due by 30 September 2026. The 2027/28 dates are not yet published. [2]

Non-EU applicants living abroad

Every applicant with a foreign qualification must request a preliminary evaluation first. After a positive evaluation comes Universitaly pre-enrolment, then the type D study visa. UniBa notes that its acceptance does not by itself give a right to a visa, which the consulate decides. [2]

What bachelor's degree do I need for Decision Science at UniBa?

A degree in information or industrial engineering, business or economics, psychology, physics, computer science, maths or statistics, or a recognised foreign equivalent. I have a B.Tech in Civil Engineering or a B.Sc. in Biology. Can I apply?

Possibly. These degrees fall outside the listed degree areas, so they rely on the 30-credit route: at least 30 CFU in maths and physics, psychology, economics and statistics, or information processing and management engineering. We count your units against those groups. [1]

What does the course cover?

Judgment and decision-making, decision theory, cognitive neuroscience, network science, data analysis, models of social behaviour, digital marketing and analytics, and computational psychometrics, plus labs, options, 12 elective credits, a 10 ECTS internship and a 10 ECTS thesis written in English. Can I study without paying tuition?

Students eligible for an ADISU Puglia scholarship are exempt from the all-inclusive contribution, so the programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. Others pay by ISEE, with full exemption up to €26,000, or a fixed fee by country group if family income is held only abroad. [4]
