Qualifying chemistry degree and the alternative-credit route

The regulations list L-27, former class 21, old-system five-year Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry degrees, or a suitable foreign equivalent recognised by the course board. Another first-cycle qualification can qualify if it includes at least 90 CFU in chemistry. Within that total, at least 12 CFU must be general/inorganic chemistry CHEM-03/A, at least 12 physical chemistry CHEM-02/A and at least 12 organic chemistry CHEM-05/A. [1]

At least 18 CFU in mathematics and physics are also required. For a foreign transcript, the committee must assess the credit/workload equivalence and content; the three 12-credit minima do not replace the full 90-credit chemistry requirement. Preparation assessment and mandatory clearance

After curricular suitability is established, a qualifying degree grade of at least 90/110 or an accepted equivalent gives automatic personal-preparation clearance under the course rule. With a lower grade, the applicant is assessed by an interview on core chemistry. This threshold defines the assessment route rather than automatic rejection. The commission includes general/inorganic, physical and organic chemistry expertise and may approve the intended curriculum or indicate a particular study path. [1]

The programme’s nulla osta is requested through its evaluation form and course president, and we prepare that request for eligible students. Missing curricular credits can be identified by the commission and earned by taking individual university courses and passing their examinations. General B1 versus international English-route B2

The programme’s general curricular rule requires English B1 and its study plan includes further English learning towards B2. That rule must be distinguished from the central B2 certificate/evidence requirement for visa applicants to an English-taught master’s curriculum. Visa-route English B2 and documented exemptions

For an English-taught master’s curriculum, non-EU applicants abroad requiring a visa must provide the accepted B2 evidence under the current central rules. The list includes IELTS 5.5-6.5, TOEFL iBT 72-94, LanguageCert International ESOL B2 Communicator with written and spoken exams, Gatehouse GA Level 1 Classic B2, PTE General Level 3, Trinity ISE II, Oxford Test of English B2 and the listed Cambridge IGCSE certification. These are the published B2 descriptors, rather than a requirement to score no higher than the top of a listed band. Oxford ELLT and Duolingo are not accepted. [4, 5]

The language page explicitly rejects a Medium of Instruction letter as a substitute certificate. The later study-document guidance separately recognises documented native-English status, an English-taught diploma/degree from an accredited institution in the EU, EEA or Schengen area, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and other countries on the university's list, and an International Baccalaureate/GCE/GCSE. For applicants relying on those limited exemptions, we confirm the exemption with the office and prepare the required qualification evidence; an MOI from any institution is not a universal waiver. For an Italian-taught route, visa applicants need Italian B2 certification under the accepted CLIQ scheme or the required university language test. A course’s lower general English threshold does not replace the language requirement of the chosen teaching route and international category. [4, 5]

Complete foreign-degree and recognition file

The qualifying award must grant access to postgraduate study, correspond to a Bologna first-cycle/EQF level-6 qualification and be issued by an eligible higher-education institution. We prepare the degree in its original language, official transcript, CV, examination programmes/syllabi and requested recognition records. Translation into Italian is normally required, with a stated exemption for original records issued in English, French or Spanish. A Diploma Supplement can replace examination/credit records only when complete and carrying the prescribed legalisation/apostille. [4]

The central checklist distinguishes authenticity from comparability: it requests CIMEA Verification, or legalisation/apostille if verification cannot be issued for the country; and CIMEA Comparability or an accepted alternative such as the competent Declaration of Value, ENIC/NARIC certification or ARDI correspondence for eligible Lisbon Convention countries. Missing certification may lead to conditional evaluation, with the remaining records supplied later. Final suitability is the university’s decision. [4]

Applicants awaiting the final qualifying award can initially submit an official final-year enrolment certificate and transcript, then integrate the completed qualification. This does not waive the course’s academic prerequisites or establish a new application deadline. Visa-route files include a valid passport; the non-visa foreign-qualification route needs identity and the appropriate EU/Italian citizenship or valid residence-permit evidence. [3, 4]

PICA, Universitaly and the applicant category

Visa-requiring non-EU candidates abroad must first obtain academic/document evaluation through the applicable PICA call. A positive PICA result precedes Universitaly; applications submitted only on Universitaly without PICA evaluation are not considered for validation. The current central general call was 29 May to 7 June 2026, with later calls restricted to specifically named programmes. A special call for another degree does not cover this course. All published general dates have passed, and the next call sets the 2027/28 window. [3]

PICA outcomes distinguish conditional admission, referral to the academic committee, admission and rejection. We submit documents through the prescribed portal, rather than sending a substitute application by email. Each candidate is limited to one course/application under the stated visa procedure. After positive evaluation and Universitaly validation, apply to the consular mission for the visa. The current instructions prohibit completing SOL enrolment and first-instalment payment from abroad: students complete those stages after arriving in Italy. [3]

Italian/EU citizens and eligible non-EU residents holding foreign qualifications use the separate PICA procedure for legally residing international students, opened from 1 July 2026, then enrol after positive evaluation. Domestic-qualification applicants follow the course’s ordinary clearance procedure. Departmental clearance, language evidence and the final qualifying award remain necessary. [1, 3, 4]
