The call sets no minimum grade, so your test score decides your rank. The test leans on science: 23 biology, 15 chemistry and 13 physics and maths questions out of 60. As a guide, based on the rules above:
- Usually a fit: Class 12 or Higher Secondary results in a science stream with biology and chemistry (PCB or PCMB), or A levels in biology and chemistry.
- Check carefully: science streams without biology, such as PCM, since biology carries the most questions and a low score can bring a first-year catch-up requirement in biology or chemistry.
- Often short: Commerce or Arts streams with no school biology or chemistry, since almost two thirds of the test covers those subjects and non-EU places are very few.
English
The 2026/27 call does not set a separate English certificate or level, and lists no IELTS or TOEFL scores. All admission test questions are in English, including the reading questions, and the degree is taught in English. [1][3]
Admission test and ranking
Places go by a ranking of admission test scores. [1]
- Format: 60 multiple-choice questions in English, with five options each, in 100 minutes, taken in person at Sapienza in Rome.
- Subjects: reading skills and general knowledge (4 questions), logical reasoning and problems (5), biology (23), chemistry (15), and physics and maths (13).
- Scoring: 1.5 points for a correct answer, 0 for a blank and minus 0.4 for a wrong answer. A total score of zero or below fails the test.
- Ties: decided by the biology, chemistry, physics and maths, logic and reading scores in that order, then in favour of the younger candidate.
- Catch-up requirements (OFA): with a total score below 10, you get an OFA in biology if you answered fewer than 11 biology questions correctly, and in chemistry if fewer than 7. You clear it by an OFA test or the matching first-year exam. If it is not cleared in the first year, you repeat the first year.

Ministerial Decree No. 1014 of 7 August 2026 set 19 places: 18 for EU applicants and non-EU applicants legally resident in Italy, and 1 for non-EU applicants living abroad who need a study visa. If the non-EU place is not used, it passes to EU applicants. [1][2]

Non-EU applicants and enrolment
Nursing is not part of Sapienza's MoveIn pre-selection for English-taught programmes, and the call does not ask for a pre-acceptance letter. [1][4] Non-EU applicants living abroad who need a study visa must complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, which is required for the visa but does not by itself give admission. [1]
If you win a place, you enrol by paying the first fee instalment with code 28614, and by providing the documents Sapienza lists for foreign school qualifications. Within 60 days of paying, you also need a Mantoux tuberculin test and a hepatitis B vaccination from the local health service. [1]

About the programme
Nursing (Nursing, Infermieristica) is a three-year bachelor's degree in class L/SNT1, the nursing and midwifery professions, worth 180 ECTS. It is taught entirely in English at Sant'Andrea University Hospital in Rome, is run by the Department of Clinical and Molecular Medicine, and is shared by Sapienza's three medical faculties. [3] The degree qualifies graduates for the health profession of nurse.
It is a programme with a limited number of places and a strong international outlook, including Erasmus and links with foreign universities. It suits students who want to train as nurses in English and are ready for a large share of hospital-based practice.

The first year covers the biological and human foundations of care, the second year nursing processes across clinical areas, and the third year critical care, evidence-based practice and nursing management. Units in the study plan include:

How the programme is taught
The course combines lectures, laboratory work and clinical internships, mainly at Sant'Andrea University Hospital and affiliated facilities, with particular weight on professional internships and clinical tutoring. Internships make up 60 ECTS: 13 in the first year, 23 in the second and 24 in the third. The third year also includes seminars, a professional laboratory, elective activities and a 7 ECTS final test.
Career paths
Graduates are responsible for general nursing care under Italian Ministerial Decree 739/1994: they identify the health needs of individuals and communities, plan, manage and evaluate nursing care, apply diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions and work in multidisciplinary teams. They can work in:

Sapienza sets tuition by family income (ISEE). Students who declare income earned abroad and cannot provide an ISEE pay a fixed enrolment fee based on their country.
