Entry requirements

Detailed entry requirements

Perugia's Engineering Management bachelor asks for a school-leaving diploma after at least 12 years of schooling, English at B2 and an entrance test: TOLC-I, CEnT-S or SAT. Visa applicants need both the B2 certificate and a passed test before they apply. The degree rules come from the 2025/26 regulations and the visa rules from the 2026/27 call. Reviewed 8 October 2026. [1]

School-leaving requirement

You need an upper secondary school diploma, or a foreign qualification recognised as equivalent. [1] For a foreign qualification, UniPG asks for: [3]

  • A high school diploma obtained after at least 12 years of schooling, with a certified translation into Italian
  • School reports or subject certificates for the last two years: the diploma counts only if it was awarded on the basis of at least the last two years of attendance, with a positive result
  • The pass certificate of any special academic competence exam your country requires for university entry
  • A CIMEA statement of verification (or legalisation or an apostille of the diploma) and a CIMEA statement of comparability, or instead a declaration of value from the Italian diplomatic mission, an ENIC-NARIC certificate or a statement of correspondence from the ARDI database

If your schooling lasted fewer than 12 years, you also need university exams passed for the first year (11-year systems) or the first two years (10-year systems), a related one- or two-year post-secondary qualification, or a completed foundation course. [3]

What this means for your school results

The rules set no minimum mark and no required school stream: the entrance test checks your mathematics and reasoning. As a guide, based on the rule above:

  • Usually a fit: Class 12 from CBSE, ISC or a state board, Higher Secondary results from Pakistan (HSSC or FSc) or Bangladesh (HSC), or A levels, each completed after at least 12 years of schooling, with solid maths for the test.
  • Check carefully: Class 12 in commerce or humanities without maths. The school rule can still be met, but TOLC-I and CEnT-S both have a minimum maths score, and CEnT-S also tests physics.
  • Often short: a school system with fewer than 12 years in total, which needs university exams, a post-secondary qualification or a foundation course on top.

We check your school documents against these rules before you apply. [1][3]

English

The 2025/26 regulations ask for a certificate of English at CEFR level B2 or equivalent. Students who do not need a visa can enrol without it and submit it by the end of the first year, but visa applicants cannot. [1]

For 2026/27, the Engineering Management visa call made a B2 certificate from UniPG's accepted list mandatory, and applications with an MOI letter or a different certificate were rejected. [2] The accepted list includes: [4]

  • IELTS in the 5.5 to 6.5 band
  • TOEFL iBT in the 72 to 94 range
  • PTE General Level 3, Trinity ISE II or LanguageCert International ESOL B2 Communicator
  • The Oxford Test of English at B2, Cambridge IGCSE or the Gatehouse Awards Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International (Classic B2)

Duolingo results are not accepted. [4]

Entrance test

The test checks your preparation in mathematics, verbal comprehension and logic. [1] For 2026/27 visa applicants, a TOLC-I, CEnT-S or SAT result was mandatory, and applications without one were rejected. [2] Pass marks:

  • TOLC-I (CISIA): at least 14 out of 50 across mathematics, logic, science and verbal comprehension, with at least 7 out of 20 in mathematics. [5]
  • CEnT-S (CISIA): at least 10 out of 35 across mathematics, reasoning on texts and data, and physics, with at least 5 out of 15 in mathematics. [5]
  • SAT: at least 700 out of 1600 in total, with at least 350 out of 800 in SAT Math, under the 2025/26 regulations. [1]

The 2025/26 regulations also accepted the ACT (composite 16 and maths 15 out of 36), but the 2026/27 visa call listed only TOLC-I, CEnT-S and SAT. [1][2] Students who do not need a visa can enrol without passing, but cannot take second-year exams until they pass the test or meet the extra maths requirement. Visa applicants must pass first. [1]

2026/27 deadlines

Engineering Management had its own visa call. For 2026/27, non-EU applicants living abroad applied on the PICA portal under call 2026-visa-06, open until 21 August 2026. This was later than UniPG's general visa call, which ran from 29 May to 7 June 2026. [2] The 2027/28 call sets the new dates.

Both CISIA tests can be taken online from home. In 2026, CEnT@CASA sessions were set for 26 February, 12 March, 23 April, 21 May and 17 September, and TOLC@CASA sessions for 27 January, 25 March, 29 April, 3 June, 27 August, 9 September and 13 October. [5]

Documents and non-EU steps

  • PICA pre-evaluation needs a copy of your passport, your school qualification documents, your English certificate and a CV. [2]
  • Final-year students can apply with a certificate showing they are enrolled in the last year of school, plus their transcript, and send the missing documents later. [3]
  • The PICA outcome can be admitted, admitted upon condition, sent to committee or rejected. [2]
  • After a positive outcome you complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, which is needed to start the study visa application, and apply for the visa at the Italian mission in your country of residence. [2]
  • Enrolment on UniPG's SOL portal and payment of the first instalment happen only after you arrive in Italy. [2]

About the programme

Engineering Management is a three-year bachelor's degree (laurea) in the interclass L-8 R and L-9 R, information and industrial engineering, run by the Department of Engineering of the University of Perugia. Teaching is in English and in person in Perugia. The 2025/26 regulations set a sustainable intake of 180 students, and the 2026/27 catalogue lists the degree with open access under code L0615. [1][6]

It suits students who enjoy mathematics and technology but want to work on how companies plan, produce and decide. The regulation describes graduates who can work with information and communication systems, model decision problems in companies from different sectors and manage innovation in products, processes and methods.

What you will study

The first year builds the base in mathematics, computing and physics. The second and third years move to economics, systems, energy and production, ending with a written project. Units in the degree regulation include: [1]

  • Mathematics I and Geometry, and Mathematics II and Statistics
  • Fundamentals of Computer Science and Physics
  • Manufacturing Engineering and Technology
  • Engineering Economy and Strategic Business Management
  • Energy Management, Control Systems and Electrical Systems
  • Production Planning, and Quality Management and Control
  • Product Design, and Facility Planning and Design
  • Organisational and Work Sociology, plus a choice between Introduction to Data Analysis and Modelling or Industrial Economics

How the programme is taught

Every student completes a compulsory 3-credit internship, in a company or inside the university, and can use elective credits for a longer one. The final exam is a project work: a written paper prepared under a lecturer's supervision, without an oral presentation. Students who have not passed the entry test can still enrol, except visa applicants, but cannot sit second-year exams until they do. [1]

Career paths

The regulation says graduates find work in large organisations and in small and medium-sized firms in industry and services. After the state exam they can register as junior industrial engineer, junior information engineer or graduate industrial expert. Typical areas include: [1]

  • strategic planning and decision support
  • project and quality management
  • production and supply chain management
  • marketing and knowledge management
  • process innovation and new product development

Fees and scholarships

UniPG sets tuition by family income and merit, assessed through an ISEEU parificato. Non-EU students whose family income and assets are abroad can instead request a flat tax, a fixed amount in one of four brackets set by country. For 2026/27 the request window runs from 3 August to 20 October 2026, with later requests possible until 1 March 2027 for an extra payment. [7]

The regional agency A.Di.S.U. Umbria manages scholarships and housing, and its call is usually published in July. Eligible students can apply, and A.Di.S.U. Umbria decides awards. [7]

How to apply from outside the EU

Engineering Management has its own visa call. For 2026/27, non-EU applicants applied on the PICA portal under call 2026-visa-06, which closed on 21 August 2026, and had to upload a TOLC-I, CEnT-S or SAT result and a B2 English certificate. Files with an MOI letter instead of a listed certificate were rejected. [2]

After a positive outcome we complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, you apply for a study visa at the Italian mission in your country of residence, and you enrol and pay the first instalment once you arrive in Italy. [2] The 2027/28 call sets the new dates.

How ApplyAZ helps

ApplyAZ is an Italy-based consultancy that works only with public universities. We can include this programme in a shortlist of 20 to 30 English-taught programmes that fit your profile, so your plan never rests on a single application.

For eligible students who start with us, a named person owns each stage, from A to Z:

  • We check your school results against Perugia's entry rules for this programme.
  • We write your CV and a tailored statement of purpose.
  • We prepare and submit your PICA pre-evaluation with your school documents, test result and English certificate, and Universitaly pre-enrolment.
  • We help you declare your family income for reduced fees and file your ADiSU Umbria scholarship application at the right time and in the right format.
  • We prepare your visa file.

With operations in all 20 Italian regions, we follow each region's scholarship rules and deadlines as they change. The university decides admission, the region decides the scholarship and the consulate decides the visa, so no one can promise an outcome. You pay in milestones, and every service you pay for is either delivered or its fee is refunded (terms apply).

Programmes at Italian public universities can be tuition-free for eligible students. Check if you are eligible and book a one-to-one consultation session with one of our Italy experts, or see how ApplyAZ works.
