How tuition works at the University of Macerata

Tuition at the University of Macerata follows family income (ISEE-U), and an ISEE-U up to €26,000 falls in the no-tax area. Students from non-OECD countries such as India whose family lives abroad go into the first band without filing an ISEE, and ERDIS Marche scholarship winners are exempt from the yearly contribution and the regional tax (total exemptions page), so study can be tuition-free for eligible students.

An ISEE-U 2026 is needed by 31 December 2026, and without one the highest band applies (ISEEU e merito). Students from OECD countries with family abroad get an assigned ISEE-U of €28,000, which puts them in the second band (Paesi OCSE page).

Source: ISEEU e merito, Importi (maximum amounts, no year stated) and the Paesi extra OCSE page. Rupees use the FBIL reference rate of 21 September 2026, €1 = ₹109.90.

Foreign citizens whose family lives abroad pay by country group: the particularly poor countries in MUR Decree 176 of 2026, non-OECD countries and OECD countries. Non-OECD students, such as those from India, go into the first band without filing an ISEE, and the fee pages we opened do not mention an ISEE parificato. Source: Macerata, students with family abroad (2026/27).

Worked example: A first-year student from India whose family lives abroad goes into Macerata's first band with an assigned ISEE-U of €16,000, so no university contribution is charged in 2026/27. From the second year, 10 and then 25 credits are needed to stay in that band, and a contribution applies from the second year beyond the normal length. We prepare the documents and the pre-admission with you, for you to submit in your own name, and prepare the ERDIS Marche scholarship application with you at the same time.

For 2027/28 the portal is open from 3 November 2026 to 30 April 2027. The university decides admission, and the consulate decides the visa.

Which entry tests and language levels does the University of Macerata ask for?

The University of Macerata does not use CISIA's TOLC to select students, because its bachelor's degrees and Law are open access: TOLC-E and TOLC-SU check the preparation of entrants. The English-taught IECoLS bachelor's has its own knowledge test, and Italian-taught degrees ask international applicants to pass an Italian test. The route for each programme is in the table above.

Reality check

  • The English offer is small. We list 4 English-taught programmes at Macerata: 1 bachelor's in law and 3 master's, in international relations, tourism and marketing.
  • Pre-admission comes first. Every applicant is evaluated on apply.unimc.it before Universitaly, and for 2027/28 the portal is open from 3 November 2026 to 30 April 2027. Macerata's enrolment page for visa applicants says no intermediary may manage the pre-admission, so you submit it in your own name and we prepare it with you.
  • Documents decide enrolment. Macerata asks for a legalised qualification with a Declaration of Value or CIMEA statement at enrolment; English documents need no translation only for an English-taught course.
  • Italian still matters. Italian-taught degrees ask international applicants to pass an Italian test, and daily life and internships need it too.

What we handle: the shortlist, the fee route, the income documents, the programme applications, the Universitaly pre-enrolment, the visa file and the DSU application, prepared with you. The university decides admission, the region decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.

How does ApplyAZ handle applications to the University of Macerata?

For eligible students, we take care of the whole application to the University of Macerata. We shortlist programmes against your profile and their entry tests, prepare the documents and the family's income papers, prepare each pre-admission with you for you to submit, complete Universitaly pre-enrolment, handle the visa file and prepare the DSU scholarship application (ERDIS Marche) with you.

We work only with Italian public universities, and we do not promise outcomes: the university decides admission, the region decides the DSU scholarship and the consulate decides the visa.

Frequently asked questions

Is the University of Macerata a public university?

Yes. The University of Macerata is a state university on the Ministry of University and Research's list of 61 public universities, and it dates its law school to 1290. It had 9,181 students in 2024/25, 388 of them international, and students from non-OECD countries such as India whose family lives abroad pay the first-band fee.

How does tuition work at the University of Macerata?

Tuition at the University of Macerata follows family income (ISEE-U), and an ISEE-U up to €26,000 falls in the no-tax area. Students from non-OECD countries such as India whose family lives abroad go into the first band without filing an ISEE, and ERDIS Marche scholarship winners are exempt from tuition.

Can study at the University of Macerata be tuition-free for eligible students?

Yes. ERDIS Marche scholarship winners and eligible students are exempt from Macerata's yearly contribution and the regional tax, so study can be tuition-free for eligible students. The 2026/27 family limits are an ISEE of €24,000 and an ISPE of €50,000, and the gross grant reaches €8,246.78 (₹9.1 lakh).

How is tuition set for a student from India at the University of Macerata?

A first-year student from India whose family lives abroad goes into Macerata's first band with an assigned ISEE-U of €16,000, so no university contribution is charged in 2026/27. From the second year, 10 and then 25 credits are needed to stay in that band, and a contribution applies from the second year beyond the normal length.

How many programmes does the University of Macerata teach in English?

We list 4 English-taught programmes at the University of Macerata for the next intake: 1 bachelor's, International, European and Comparative Legal Studies, and 3 master's, in International Relations, International Tourism and Destination Management, and Management and International Marketing. Every applicant starts with a pre-admission on apply.unimc.it.

Which entry tests does the University of Macerata use?

The University of Macerata does not use CISIA's TOLC to select students, because its bachelor's degrees and Law are open access: TOLC-E and TOLC-SU check entrants' preparation. The English-taught IECoLS bachelor's has its own knowledge test, 15 questions in 60 minutes with a minimum of 9, and Italian-taught degrees need an Italian test.

Does the University of Macerata offer its own scholarships?

Yes. For 2026/27 Macerata offered 20 scholarships of €8,000 (₹8.8 lakh) gross each, with a full contribution exemption, to international students living abroad entering a bachelor's or two-year master's. They required pre-admission by 24 April 2026 and cannot be combined with an ERDIS scholarship, so we weigh both for each student.

What is the University of Macerata's world ranking?

The University of Macerata is not ranked in the QS World University Rankings 2027 or in the THE World University Rankings 2026, and QS shows no subject rank for it in QS by Subject 2026. Rankings measure whole universities, so the programme and its entry route matter more than a table.

When do applications open at the University of Macerata?

We prepare each pre-admission with you early, you submit it in your own name, and we complete the Universitaly pre-enrolment for the visa.

How does ApplyAZ help with a University of Macerata application?

For eligible students, we take care of everything: the shortlist, the fee route, the pre-admission on apply.unimc.it, prepared with you and submitted in your name, Universitaly pre-enrolment and the visa file, and we prepare the ERDIS Marche application with you. The university decides admission, ERDIS the scholarship and the consulate the visa. Start by checking your eligibility at go.applyaz.com.
