- Maths, science and computing: chemistry fundamentals, experimental and theoretical physics, physics of matter, algebra, geometry, mathematical analysis, probability and statistics, numerical analysis, operations research, statistics, economic statistics, mathematical methods for economics, computer science, and engineering economics and management (sectors CHEM-06/A, PHYS-01/A, PHYS-02/A, PHYS-03/A, MATH-02/A, MATH-02/B, MATH-03/A, MATH-03/B, MAT/08, MATH-06/A, STAT-01/A, STAT-02/A, STAT-04/A, INFO-01/A and IEGE-01/A).
- At least 24 CFU in engineering: including electronics, electromagnetic fields, telecommunications, automation, information processing systems, electrical and electronic measurements, bioengineering, electrical machines and drives, electrical power systems and electrical engineering (sectors IINF-01/A, IINF-02/A, IINF-03/A, IINF-04/A, IINF-05/A, IMIS-01/B, IBIO-01/A, IIND-08/A, IIND-08/B and IIET-01/A).
If credits are missing, you make them up by passing single courses at Poliba or another Italian university before the preparation check. You cannot enrol with outstanding obligations. [2]
What this means for your transcript
Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and Poliba looks at your subjects, not just your total. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Electronics and Communication, Electronics and Telecommunication, Electrical, or Electrical and Electronics Engineering, which normally covers maths and physics and well over 24 credits in electronics, communications or electrical subjects.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech or B.E. in Computer Science, IT, Instrumentation or Biomedical Engineering. These usually reach 48 credits, but at least 24 must fall in the listed engineering sectors, such as information processing systems, electronics, automation or measurements.
- Often short: a BCA, or a B.Sc. in Computer Science, Physics or Mathematics, which covers maths, physics or computing but rarely 24 credits in the listed engineering sectors.
The 85/110 grade rule is set on the Italian scale, and the regulations do not say how foreign grades convert. [2]

English at CEFR level B2 or higher. [1][2] Under Poliba's 2026/27 admission rules, B2 is shown with a CEFR certificate the university recognises (for Trinity, only ISE certificates count) or by passing the exam at the university language centre, which can be taken before or after you apply. You must hold the level before you enrol. [3]
The 2025/26 regulations exempt native English speakers and, in exceptional cases, let the teaching board assess your English from your previous studies, possibly with an interview. The rules do not list minimum test scores. [2]
Preparation check
There is no general entrance test. If your bachelor's grade is 85/110 or equivalent or higher, no further check applies. Below that, you must pass a check of your individual preparation, held in the format and on the dates set by the Department Council. If you do not pass it, you cannot enrol. Any missing credits must be made up before this check. [2]
2026/27 application windows
For 2026/27, Poliba accepts master's applications on Esse3 only in these windows: 28 July to 15 September 2026, 1 to 15 October 2026, 1 to 15 November 2026, 1 to 15 December 2026, 5 to 20 January 2027, 1 to 15 February 2027, 1 to 15 March 2027, 1 to 15 April 2027 and 2 to 10 May 2027. Enrolment runs from 22 September 2026 to 20 May 2027, and students who enrol from 1 February 2027 register part-time. [3]
You can apply for only one master's programme, and only once you hold your bachelor's degree. The 2027/28 windows are not yet published. [3]

- A valid identity document. A passport is mandatory for non-EU applicants living abroad.
- Your secondary school certificate with an official translation into Italian or English.
- Your bachelor's degree certificate with the list of exams, with a legalised translation.

About the programme
Telecommunications and Internet Technologies Engineering (Ingegneria delle Telecomunicazioni e delle Tecnologie Internet) is a two-year, 120-credit laurea magistrale in class LM-27 at the Politecnico di Bari, run by the Department of Electrical and Information Engineering. The Cyber Security curriculum included Wireless Network Security and Ethical Hacking Laboratory, Electromagnetic Security, Cryptography, Secure Programming Laboratory, Information Systems Security and Privacy, Risk Management and Big Data Analytics. Several courses are built around laboratory and hands-on activity, with one course fully based on laboratory work. Teaching draws on department laboratories such as the Telematics Laboratory, the Microwave and Optical Engineering lab, the Optoelectronics Laboratory and the Information Systems Laboratory.
You can study abroad through Erasmus+, and an agreement between Politecnico di Bari and Université Côte d'Azur in Nice offers a double degree in Internet Engineering, with a set study path split between Bari and Nice. [5]

Its student contribution regulation fully exempts ADISU Puglia scholarship holders, and students who qualify for the scholarship but miss out only because funds run out. I have a B.Tech in Computer Science or a BCA. Can I apply?
Possibly. A Computer Science B.Tech often reaches the 48 credits, but at least 24 must be in the listed engineering sectors, such as information processing systems or electronics. A BCA is often short on those engineering credits. Missing credits can be made up through single courses. [1][2]
