Management Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's (class LM-31) taught in English at the University of Florence's School of Engineering, with limited places ranked on your grade average. Fees follow ISEE, so it can be tuition-free for eligible students.
Entry requirements
- A bachelor's degree in industrial or information engineering (Italian classes L-8 or L-9) or an equivalent foreign degree, with at least 155 graded ECTS.
- Minimum credits: 15 ECTS in maths for management engineering (statistics, operations research, systems theory), 18 ECTS across business economics and production technologies (at least 6 in each), and 6 ECTS in energy engineering.
- English at B2 level, certified by a recognised body such as IELTS (from 5.5), TOEFL (from 80), Cambridge (from First) or the University of Florence language centre.
- A grade point average above the threshold set for your country; eligible candidates are ranked on their adjusted average.
- A transcript showing your average, stamped by your university, with a sworn translation unless it is in English, French or Spanish.

Management Engineering is a two-year international master's degree in class LM-31 (management engineering) at the University of Florence, worth 120 ECTS and taught in English. What you will study
There are three curricula. Smart Industry is taught entirely at UniFi, while International HSLU Lucern and International Tecnico Lisboa include at least one semester abroad and lead to a double master's degree; they need a separate call. All three share the first year. Units in the 2026/27 plan include:

How the programme is taught
Teaching combines lectures, tutorials and supervised group work such as simulations, case analysis and design projects, plus technical visits. The programme uses a blended, flipped-classroom approach: between 10% and 33% of non-laboratory credits may be delivered online, while courses keep significant classroom activity. In Smart Industry the second year includes a 12 ECTS traineeship in a company or research centre and a 12 ECTS thesis, usually on an industrial project. An Honours Programme in Operations and Supply Chain Management runs with partner companies through competitive calls.

Fees and scholarships
As at every UniFi degree, fees are linked to ISEE. For 2026/27, residents abroad get an automatic figurative ISEE by their country's World Bank income group, from €25,500 to €75,500. Students from developing countries pay just the €140 regional tax and €16 stamp duty, and DSU Toscana scholarship winners or eligible candidates pay only stamp duty, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
This degree has its own admission call rather than the general Apply Unifi rounds. For 2026/27 the first competition, open from 27 May to 27 July 2026, offered 18 places to non-EU students, 2 to Marco Polo students and 40 to EU students; later rounds were reserved for EU and equivalent applicants. Each application costs €60, non-refundable.
Your average must exceed your country's threshold, and eligible candidates are ranked on it. Admitted non-EU students also complete Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D study visa.
