Degree requirement
Non-EU applicants living abroad need a bachelor's degree in one of these areas: modern language studies, economics and marketing, communication studies, international relations and political studies, business administration, or tourism management. [1]
- Relevant background: the committee also looks for an academic background and training or professional experience pertinent to the course. [1]
- Two study languages: you need adequate skills in the two languages you will study, chosen from English, French, German and Spanish. [1]
- Italian degrees: applicants with an Italian degree follow a separate rule, with degree classes L-11, L-12, L-15, L-16, L-18, L-20, L-36 or L-37, at least 20 CFU in foreign language sectors and a further 34 CFU in listed linguistic, humanities, economics and law sectors. [2]

Unimore looks at the subject area of your degree and, above all, at your level in your two chosen languages. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a BA in English, French, German, Spanish or modern languages, when your second study language is also one of the four and you can show it at a good level.
- Check carefully: a B.Com, BBA, BA in Economics, Political Science or International Relations, a communication degree or a tourism degree. The subject area can fit, but alongside English you also need French, German or Spanish at a level the committee accepts.
- Often short: a B.Tech, B.E., B.Sc. or BCA, because engineering, science and computing are not among the listed areas.
English and your two study languages
The course is taught entirely in English, so you need English at CEFR level B2 or higher, whatever your two study languages. [1]

Selection
Non-EU applicants living abroad do not sit a written test. A committee assesses your academic background from your documents, with a focus on your command of the foreign languages: syntax, vocabulary, text and pragmatics, and spoken and written registers. [1]

- Outcomes: pass, additional requirements (an interview), fail, or incomplete application. [1]

Italian, EU and Italy-resident candidates take a separate route: a computer-based test of 60 multiple-choice questions in each chosen language, with at least 24 out of 60 needed in both. [2]

For 2026/27, non-EU applicants living abroad applied online from 10 January to 10 March 2026. Results were due by 2 April 2026, and enrolment runs from 8 July to 22 December 2026. [1]
The second-edition call for Italian, EU and Italy-resident candidates closes for applications on 12 November 2026, with the test on 18 November 2026. The 2027/28 calls are not yet published, and the next call sets the new dates. [2]

The online assessment application includes: [1]
- A degree certificate showing the degree type, university, date, final mark and every exam with its grade, plus a copy of your diploma.
- Language certificates or home university statements for English and your two study languages.
- A personal statement in English explaining why you want to join the course.
- A CV in English on the Europass model.
- A reference letter from a university professor on your academic suitability.
- Any other qualifications you want considered, such as internships or further courses.
Documents are accepted in English, French, German or Spanish. Other languages need an official translation. [1]
After a positive assessment, you complete Universitaly pre-enrolment with your passport and photo, obtain the student visa and enrol in person in Modena. Enrolment needs your bachelor's diploma translated and legalised, a declaration of value or an ENIC-NARIC statement, or the CIMEA statement of comparability or correspondence with a CIMEA certificate of verification, your degree certificate, the residence permit receipt, your passport and a photo. About the programme
Languages for Communication in International Enterprises and Organizations (LACOM, in Italian Lingue per la comunicazione nell'impresa e nelle organizzazioni internazionali) is a two-year master's degree in class LM-38, modern languages for international communication and cooperation. It is worth 120 ECTS and run by the Department of Linguistic and Cultural Studies of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Unimore) in Modena. How the programme is taught

Fees and scholarships
At Unimore, tuition follows family income. When a non-EU student's income and assets are all abroad, the university sets a notional Country ISEE from per-capita income at purchasing power parity, and the fee follows that band. Students who do not file the ER.GO online application pay the full fee.
