International Economics and Commerce (IEC) is a two-year laurea magistrale in class LM-56 (economic sciences), worth 120 ECTS and fully taught in English at the Giorgio Fuà Faculty of Economics of Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona. Italian professors teach alongside colleagues from partner universities, and a large share of students come from abroad.
The course has a global focus. It builds a solid base in economics and management and looks closely at Italian SMEs that make high-quality goods for export markets. What you will study
IEC offers three curricula: International Business (IB), Business Organization and Strategy (BOS) and Global Economic Analysis (GEA). Units in the published study plans include:

Students who enrol with English at B2 add an Advanced English unit at C1 level, with free preparation courses. Each plan ends with a 21 ECTS thesis.
How the programme is taught
Several courses include lab activities, and the faculty reports an average class size of about 20 students. The faculty has international agreements for double degrees with partner universities, and you can study abroad through Erasmus or join internship schemes such as the Global Consulting Program, Campus World or Erasmus Traineeship. International students get free Italian courses. Lectures are held on site, with the first semester of year one also available online.
Career paths
The course trains managers for purchasing, sales and international market analysis, with support skills for commercial, general management, management control and strategic functions. Graduates move into managerial positions in international companies and institutions or into consulting. The faculty reports 85.7% employability one year after graduation, from AlmaLaurea and Univpm data.
Fees and scholarships
Non-EU citizens of non-OECD countries pay €156 for the first year under Univpm's international FAQ, with the reduced rate in later years depending on credits earned by 10 August. Those from OECD countries file an ISEE parificato by 5 November or pay the course maximum. ERDIS Marche offers regional scholarships, and the degree can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
The faculty assesses your curricular requirements and prior learning. You apply through a pre-evaluation on the GoMoveIn portal, choosing up to two programmes at €10 each. For 2026/27 the rounds for free-access courses ran from December 2025 to June 2026, with a July round for a listed group of countries; outcomes can take about 45 days.
If admitted, you pre-enrol on Universitaly and apply for a type D study visa. The 2027/28 rounds are not out yet.
