Degree and credit requirements
You need a three- or four-year bachelor's degree, a three-year university diploma, or a foreign qualification recognised as suitable. [1]
Degrees in these Italian classes meet the curricular rule directly: tourism (L-15), administration and organisation (L-16), business economics (L-18), computer science (L-31), economics (L-33), political science and international relations (L-36) and statistics (L-41), or their older equivalents. [1]
With a degree in any other class, you need at least 48 CFU in set sectors of economics and business, maths, statistics, computer science, social and political sciences, management engineering and law. In exceptional cases, with a particularly strong CV, the course council can let graduates without these credits sit the assessment. [1]
For degrees from South Asia, Univpm's 2026/27 country list sets these rules for master's entry: [3]
- India: at least a four-year (eight-semester) Honours, Research or Professional bachelor's at NHEQF level 6. A three-year bachelor's, with any extra year leading to a postgraduate diploma, is assessed case by case against EQF level 6.
- Pakistan: a four-year Honours or a four- or five-year professional bachelor's with the HEC stamp. A three-year bachelor's must be followed by one more year leading to a four-year Honours degree or a master's.
- Bangladesh: a four-year Honours bachelor's (at least 140 credit hours), a four- or five-year professional bachelor's, or a two-year pass bachelor's plus a two-year master's.
- Sri Lanka: at least a four-year Honours or Special bachelor's. A three-year General bachelor's does not give direct access.
What this means for your transcript
Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and Univpm looks at your subjects and the length of your degree. As a guide, based on the rules above:
- Usually a fit: a four-year BBA, B.Com (Honours) or BA (Honours) in Economics, or a four-year B.Tech or B.E. whose maths, statistics, computing and management papers reach the 48 credits.
- Check carefully: a three-year B.Com, BBA, BA in Economics or BCA from India, which Univpm assesses case by case, especially with no extra postgraduate diploma year.
- Often short: a three-year degree from Pakistan or a three-year General degree from Sri Lanka without a further year, or a degree in an unrelated field with few economics, maths or law credits.
English
English at CEFR level B2 is required for admission. You show it with a certificate at B2 or higher, or with the QPT placement test at B2 or higher. The regulation does not list specific test scores. [1]
Students who enrol at B2 add an Advanced English unit to their study plan, through a C1 test or a C1 international certificate, and free preparation courses are offered. [4]
Selection and interview
The programme is open access for 2026/27, with no written entrance exam. [2] An admission commission assesses your personal preparation. If your bachelor's final mark is above 85/110, or the equivalent out of 100, your preparation counts as adequate. With 85/110 or below, you must pass an interview on the topics of your bachelor's thesis. [1]
The regulation allows the course to set a cap on places in a given year. In that case, a call sets the number of places and the selection test. [1]
2026/27 deadlines
For 2026/27, international students could request pre-evaluation for open-access programmes in three calls: 16 December 2025 to 30 January 2026, 1 March to 30 April 2026, and 8 to 30 June 2026. A fourth call, 1 to 31 July 2026, was open to listed nationalities, including India and Sri Lanka. Universitaly applications for visa students close on 30 November 2026, and enrolment opened from mid-July 2026. [2]
Pre-evaluation outcomes are valid only for 2026/27. The 2027/28 calls are not yet published. [2]
Applicants still finishing their degree give the expected graduation date in the pre-evaluation form, and visa applicants who have still to obtain their qualification can be admitted under condition. [2]
Pre-evaluation and visa documents
Non-EU applicants who need a visa apply for pre-evaluation on Univpm's portal, for up to two programmes. You upload your full transcript or Diploma Supplement with the grade scale, and you can add a CV and a motivation statement. The outcome can take at least 45 days. [2]
After a positive outcome, you submit Universitaly pre-enrolment, and visa applicants receive the pre-admission letter once Univpm validates it. For the embassy, Univpm lists these academic documents: [2]
- Your degree and transcript or Diploma Supplement in the original language, with a sworn translation into English or Italian.
- A CIMEA comparability statement, or a declaration of value from the Italian embassy or consulate.
- A CIMEA verification statement, or an apostille or legalisation.
- A B2 English certificate.

About the programme
International Economics and Commerce (IEC) is a two-year laurea magistrale in class LM-56 (economic sciences), worth 120 ECTS and fully taught in English at the Giorgio Fuà Faculty of Economics of Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona. Italian professors teach alongside colleagues from partner universities, and a large share of students come from abroad.
The course has a global focus. It builds a solid base in economics and management and looks closely at Italian SMEs that make high-quality goods for export markets. It suits graduates in economics or business who want to support decisions in multinational companies, logistics or global economic analysis.

IEC offers three curricula: International Business (IB), Business Organization and Strategy (BOS) and Global Economic Analysis (GEA). Units in the published study plans include:

How the programme is taught
Several courses include lab activities, and the faculty reports an average class size of about 20 students. The faculty has international agreements for double degrees with partner universities, and you can study abroad through Erasmus or join internship schemes such as the Global Consulting Program, Campus World or Erasmus Traineeship. International students get free Italian courses. Lectures are held on site, with the first semester of year one also available online.
Career paths
The course trains managers for purchasing, sales and international market analysis, with support skills for commercial, general management, management control and strategic functions. Graduates move into managerial positions in international companies and institutions or into consulting. The faculty reports 85.7% employability one year after graduation, from AlmaLaurea and Univpm data.
Fees and scholarships
For 2026/27, non-EU citizens of non-OECD or developing countries who do not request an ISEE parificato pay only the regional tax and stamp duty in the first year, with the same rate in later years depending on credits earned by 10 August. Those from OECD countries file an ISEE parificato by 5 November 2026 or pay the course maximum.
