Green Industrial Engineering is a two-year, 120 ECTS master's degree (class LM-30) taught in English by Marche Polytechnic University with the University of Urbino, on site in Pesaro. It covers energy systems and the energy transition, with two curricula. It can be tuition-free for eligible students.
Entry requirements
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, or an equivalent foreign qualification, that gives the base knowledge the course builds on.
- English at B2 (CEFR).
- Free access: the faculty checks that your preparation is adequate rather than ranking applicants.
- Pre-evaluation of your degree on Univpm's GoMoveIn portal, then Universitaly pre-enrolment.
- Legalisation, apostille or CIMEA verification of your degree is strongly recommended for the visa stage.
About the programme
Green Industrial Engineering is a two-year laurea magistrale in class LM-30 (energy and nuclear engineering), worth 120 ECTS. It is an interuniversity course of the Faculty of Engineering of Marche Polytechnic University, developed with the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, and lectures are held on site in Pesaro, at Via Petrarca 18. Teaching is in English, and the course was designed in close cooperation with companies working in international markets.
It deepens a bachelor's in engineering with advanced knowledge of traditional energy engineering and newer fields linked to the energy transition, plus data analysis, cyber security and energy and environmental policy. It suits engineers who want to work on renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable production.
What you will study
The first year gives everyone a common base in energy systems, sustainable energy, smart grids, data science and energy, environment and economy policy. In the second year you choose a curriculum: Sustainable Manufacturing, on energy efficiency in final and industrial uses, or Sustainable Energy Transition, on generation, distribution, storage and demand of energy in all its forms. Units listed by the university include:
- Energy conversion and storage systems
- Sustainable Energy
- Electrical Machines and Smart Grids
- Structural design of energy systems
- Data Science for Eco-sustainability, and Environmental economics and policy
- Energy Efficiency in Production Systems and Advanced Sustainable Production Systems
- Fault Diagnosis and Predictive Maintenance
- Heat and Mass transfer, Computational Fluid Dynamics for Energy Engineering and Geothermal Resources
How the programme is taught
Compulsory units form the core, and electives let you shape the technological, economic and environmental side of your plan. The internship, especially if you do it in a company, gives you direct contact with the working world. The course also prepares you to set up energy management systems for companies seeking ISO 50001 certification, in the role of energy management expert (EGE).
Career paths
The faculty describes a broad job market for master's energy engineers, including:
- Manufacturing companies, in energy management and energy efficiency
- Energy service companies (ESCOs), as project managers or energy auditors
- Oil and gas companies and private and public energy utilities
- Transmission and distribution system operators
- Public administrations, as energy managers of buildings and facilities
- Research centres, engineering firms and freelance practice
Graduates can also continue to a research doctorate.
Fees and scholarships
Enrolment is with Univpm, whose international FAQ sets €156 for the first year for non-EU citizens of non-OECD countries; later years stay reduced if you reach the credit targets by 10 August. Citizens of OECD countries submit an ISEE parificato by 5 November or pay the maximum. With a scholarship from ERDIS Marche, the course can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
The course page links to Univpm's pre-evaluation procedure on the GoMoveIn portal, where you pick up to two programmes and pay €10 for each. For 2026/27, rounds for free-access courses ran from December 2025 to June 2026, with a July round for a listed group of countries, and replies took up to about 45 days.
After a positive outcome you pre-enrol on Universitaly and apply for a type D study visa. The 2027/28 rounds are still to be published.
How ApplyAZ helps
If this programme fits your goals, ApplyAZ can include it in a shortlist of 20 to 30 English-taught programmes at Italian public universities. We write your CV and a tailored statement of purpose, submit your applications and Universitaly pre-enrolment, file your DSU scholarship application and prepare your visa file, with a named person on each stage. The university decides admission, the region decides the scholarship and the consulate decides the visa. See how ApplyAZ works or check your eligibility.
