Entry requirements
- A secondary school diploma from a four or five-year system, or an equivalent foreign qualification (EQF level 4) recognised as suitable.
- School reports from your last three years and your diploma (or proof of final-year enrolment), uploaded at test registration and checked by the International Students Office.
- An admission test: TOL or TOLC-I in Italian, or CEnT-S or SAT in English.
- Proof of English before enrolment, as for all of PoliMi's English-taught bachelor's degrees.
- Italian at B2 by graduation, not at entry.
About the programme
Industrial Engineering is a three-year bachelor's degree (laurea, class L-9) worth 180 ECTS, taught entirely in English by Politecnico di Milano's School of Industrial and Information Engineering. It started in 2026/27 and runs at the Piacenza campus, in an area with many manufacturing, logistics and energy companies.
The degree trains engineers to see a factory, plant or supply chain as one system where machines, energy, data and people interact. It suits students who like hands-on work, want early contact with industry and are open to either a job or a master's after three years.
What you will study
Year one lays the maths, physics, chemistry and computing base. Year two covers the core of industrial engineering: mechanical, thermal and electrical systems, data analysis and management. Year three turns to design, manufacturing and running industrial systems, then you choose between an industrial internship and extra courses aimed at a master's. Examples from the plan:

How the programme is taught
The year is split into three terms (autumn, winter and spring) of about 20 ECTS each, so you study only a few courses at a time. Most courses are integrated modules with experimental and computational labs and projects, some run with industrial partners. You also get an academic tutor, and the final exam is a report in English on a thematic lab or your internship.
Career paths
Graduates start in technical and operational roles in industrial and service firms, working alongside engineers, production managers and technicians. After the State Examination they can join Section B of the Italian Register of Engineers. Master's options include Mechanical, Energy, Electrical and Management Engineering.

Fees and scholarships
PoliMi has offered scholarships for international students who apply to this degree (the 2026/27 call is closed). Beyond that, tuition follows the university's income rules: for 2026/27, from €157.04 a year with an ISEE up to €22,000 up to €3,943.04, with the ISEE parificato used for income abroad. PoliMi also runs the DSU scholarship, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students.
How to apply from outside the EU
Applicants living outside the EU use PoliMi's engineering bachelor's route and compete for reserved places. For 2026/27 that meant registering in Online Services, uploading school documents for the International Students Office, and taking the TOL (€35) or sending a CEnT-S or SAT result; standard TOL sessions ran from 1 February to 31 May 2026. After admission you complete Universitaly pre-enrolment and apply for a type D visa. Watch for the 2027/28 call and any new scholarship call for this degree.
