Heritage Innovation Engineering is Messina’s open-access, English-taught L-23 bachelor’s degree. School qualification and length of education

An Italian upper-secondary diploma or suitable recognised foreign qualification is required. The central international checklist normally requires a school qualification following 12 years of education, plus any university entrance examination required by the home education system. [1][2]

Applicants with fewer than 12 school years can provide evidence of passing all required examinations in the first year of university study or successful completion of an accepted Foundation programme. The university checks qualification suitability; a foundation or extra-study certificate must be relevant to the specific deficiency. [2]

Initial-knowledge assessment and progression

The programme assesses the required initial knowledge through a CISIA test or equivalent. A failed knowledge check leads to Additional Learning Obligations, OFA, to be completed within the first year. If OFA remain unfulfilled, the student cannot progress to the next year and remains enrolled as a first-year repeater. [1]

The reviewed programme page does not specify a universal numerical test score or identify a fixed test variant for every applicant. Open access does not remove the knowledge check or its progression consequences. The programme assigns the CISIA or equivalent test and the OFA procedure. [1]

English B2 and accepted international certificates

The programme requires verification at CEFR B2 and describes language-learning activities for students below that level. For international application to an English-taught degree, the central instructions require an accepted B2 certificate unless a listed exemption applies. The course’s remedial teaching does not replace the certificate evidence required at application. [1][2][3]

UniME accepts IELTS at least 5.5 and TOEFL iBT at least 72, each valid up to two years after the test; Cambridge B2 First or higher; Pearson PTE General Level 3/B2 or higher; and PTE Academic at least 59. Other test formats are not on the list. [3]

Certificate exemptions cover specified native English speakers, qualifications from wholly English-taught programmes at higher-education institutions in the listed English-speaking countries/territories, a wholly English-taught International Baccalaureate Diploma, or a qualifying compulsory/preferential standardised English test for the chosen programme. An English-medium school/degree from any country is not a blanket exemption. [3]

Country-specific qualification conditions

UniME’s current country table is expressly for 2026/27 and classifies this bachelor’s degree within Physical Sciences and Engineering. The country and academic field can affect accepted awards, required entrance-test evidence and minimum grades. Countries omitted from the table may still apply; absence is not an exclusion rule. [4]

For example, the India bachelor-entry column accepts the listed CBSE/CISCE, NIOS and state-board qualifications, requires both the pass certificate and marks statement when separate, and specifies a 70% minimum. Türkiye requires the listed school diploma and evidence of passing YKS, including TYT and AYT. Iran’s applicable school-award format depends on whether it predates 2018/19 and its PE route requires mathematics preparation. These are specific country provisions, not universal rules for all applicants. [4]

Documents and forthcoming 2027/28 rounds

The international preliminary checklist requests school qualification or accepted official provisional completion evidence, transcript, valid passport with at least 18 months remaining, applicable home-system entrance-examination evidence and accepted English documentation. Any translation must be accompanied by the original-language document. [2]

The announced 2027/28 visa rounds are Early Bird 1 to 20 December 2026, second 2 February to 19 March 2027 and third 8 April to 8 May 2027. The university may close a round early. Early Bird is reserved for applicants already holding final academic documents and Declaration of Value or CIMEA comparability. The non-refundable fee is €40 for up to two applications. [2]

The 2027/28 no-visa round is announced for 6 July to 13 November 2027 for the specified Italian/foreign-qualified, EU and EU-equivalent categories. These are future windows, not a round that is open now. The retained 2026/27 no-visa window closes on 20 November 2026 and had a €30 application fee. [2]
