- Other degrees, including foreign qualifications that are not equivalent but have partly similar content, are assessed by a commission appointed by the course council.
For international applicants, the programme page asks for a bachelor's in biotechnology or a closely related discipline, with adequate credits in general and inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and general physiology, and a final degree grade of B or higher, or equivalent. What this means for your transcript
Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and the board looks at your subjects, not just the degree title. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Sc. or B.Tech in Biotechnology, or a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences or Life Sciences that covers chemistry, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and physiology.

Alongside lectures, you complete a training stage at a research institute or a company in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostic or biomedical sector.
Thesis work is experimental: you generate data in a research laboratory, and the department lists eight host labs for master's theses, from molecular biology to bioprocess engineering.
