- Basic block (40 ECTS): mathematics (MAT/02, 03, 05, 06, 07 and 08), physics (FIS/01, 02, 03 and 07), chemistry (CHIM/01 to 07), statistics (SECS-S/01 and 02) and computer engineering (ING-INF/05). [3]
- Related block (60 ECTS): civil and environmental engineering (ICAR/01 to 09 and ICAR/17, covering hydraulics, hydrology, sanitary engineering, transport, surveying, geotechnics and structures), mining and subsurface engineering (ING-IND/28, 29 and 30), some industrial engineering (ING-IND/06, 09, 11, 21 and 22), ecology (BIO/07), geology and geophysics (GEO/04, 05, 11 and 12), and chemistry and physics (CHIM/07, FIS/01, 02, 03 and 07). - Grades: your degree must have a grade average above 3.2 on a 1 to 4 scale or equivalent, and your exams in the basic and related blocks must also average above 3.2. [1]
If you have minor gaps, the Commission may admit you conditionally, provided you complete the missing courses before the second semester begins. [2]
What this means for your transcript
Italian CFU and the credits on a foreign transcript are not the same unit, and the Commission looks at your subjects and grades, not only your total. As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: a B.Tech or B.E. in Civil Engineering or Mining Engineering, which the rule names directly, as long as your grades meet the 3.2 average.
- Check carefully: a B.Tech or B.E. in Environmental, Agricultural, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a B.Sc. in Geology. These often cover the maths, physics and chemistry block but need a close look for 60 credits in hydraulics, geotechnics, geology and related subjects.
- Often short: a B.Tech in Computer Science, IT or Electronics, a BCA, or a B.Com, BBA or BA, which usually lack the civil, geological and environmental subjects.

About the programme

You take 6 credits in a laboratory of your choice, such as hydrology and hydraulic structures, hydraulic measurements or material testing, or replace it with an internship in a company. Twelve credits are free choice, with suggested electives on climate change, mountain hazards and aquifer remediation. The degree ends with a 15-credit thesis.
