Tuition at the University of Insubria follows family income (ISEE) and the course area. Families with income abroad pay a flat amount by country group instead, and study can be tuition-free for eligible students who win a DSU scholarship.
Tuition follows family income (ISEE). Families with income abroad can file an ISEE or request the flat fee for their country, and DSU scholarship winners are exempt from tuition. An ISEE up to €28,000 falls in the no-tax area.
The no-tax area is for regular students, enrolled for fewer years than the normal length of the course plus two. Anyone with an ISEE above €66,000, or with no ISEE and not on the flat rate for families abroad, pays the top band for the course area. Medicine and Dentistry applicants on the open semester pay a contribution, waived with an ISEE up to €28,000 and counted towards later fees.

Students with foreign citizenship whose family earns income and holds assets abroad file no ISEE for the fee. They pay a flat amount by country group, times a course coefficient of 1.0 to 1.2, plus the regional tax for their group and the stamp duty. India's group, Tabella 1, is the lowest. Worked example: A first-year student from India whose family income is abroad pays by country group, and India is in the lowest group, Tabella 1. The flat fee then varies only with the course area. The fee needs no income papers, but the DSU grant does, so we prepare the family documents with you and the student submits that application online.
Non-EU students living abroad apply to the University of Insubria through Universitaly: for most programmes, the pre-enrolment request with the university's pre-evaluation is the application, due by 30 June 2026 for 2026/27. Programmes then check the degree, often in an interview, and the 2027/28 calls are not out yet. The university decides admission, and the consulate decides the visa.

Check your eligibilityThe University of Insubria uses CISIA's TOLC-S and TOLC-E for Italian-taught science and economics bachelor's degrees, its own tests for three programmed-access bachelor's and the national test for health professions. Its English-taught master's set no test: they check your degree and hold an interview. Most ask for B2 English; GEEM and Mathematics state no level.

English: B2 for most English-taught master's; the master's guide 2026/27 gives no level for GEEM or Mathematics, so we check it for you. Computer Science accepts a university exam at B2, a certificate (valid 5 years, or 2 for IELTS and TOEFL) or an English-taught bachelor's; Hospitality asks for B2 plus a second language, and Biomedical Sciences and Biotechnology for a B2 certificate or an immersion course. Italian: Italian-taught degrees need a 20-minute online Italian interview, unless you hold an official B2 certificate; applicants to English-taught courses are exempt. Source. The University of Insubria is not in the QS World University Rankings 2027, and it is in the 601 to 800 band of the THE World University Rankings 2026. No subject reaches the top 200 of QS by Subject 2026, so for most applicants the programme, its entry route and the fee matter more than the rank.

Yes, most do. Among Insubria's master's graduates of 2024, 92.3% were in work about a year later, with mean net pay of €1,581 (₹1.7 lakh) a month, according to AlmaLaurea. Five years after graduating, 97.3% of the 2020 master's graduates were in work, earning €2,042 (₹2.2 lakh) a month on average.

The University of Insubria also funds its own merit scholarships for bachelor's and single-cycle students: 217 awards of €500 to €3,000 (₹55,000 to ₹3.3 lakh) in 2026/27 (2026/27 call). The call closes on 5 October 2026 and does not cover the master's degrees we list.
Its first-year awards, including 15 of €3,000 for students living away from home, need an Italian school diploma, from Italy or an Italian school abroad, or the European Baccalaureate, so they are closed to students with a school diploma from India.

For the study visa, the consulate asks you to show at least €10,179.85 (₹11.2 lakh) a year for living costs in Varese and Como or any other Italian city. That is a floor, not a full budget: rent is the biggest cost, and a DSU residence place is much cheaper than a private room.
