MUR publishes every IMAT question paper from 2011 to 2026 on its official access portal, free. In the published version, option A is the correct answer to every question, so the papers double as their own answer key. The 2024, 2025 and 2026 papers match the current format of 60 questions in 100 minutes; older papers are useful for topic practice but not for timing.

The next IMAT has no decree or date yet. The papers below are the best practice material until it does.

- 16 official papers, 2011 to 2026, all hosted by MUR. You do not need to buy past papers.
- Answer key: the portal states that in the published version the correct answer is option A for all questions. Shuffle or cover the options before you practise.
- Format changed: 2011 and 2012 had 80 questions; later papers have 60, and 2024 to 2026 share today's split, with 23 in biology.

On the MUR access portal. Each paper is a PDF at a fixed address on accessoprogrammato.mur.gov.it, and the 2025 and 2026 portal pages list the full archive. These are the only official versions; other sites usually re-host the same files.

We checked the 2026, 2025, 2024, 2019, 2012 and 2011 papers. For the years between, count the questions in each section before you time the paper, because the format has changed over the years.
Where are the answers to IMAT past papers?
MUR does not publish separate answer keys. Instead, the 2026 portal page and the 2025 portal page both state: "In this version the correct answer is option A for all questions." Inside the PDFs, the instruction says the correct answer is the highlighted one.
On test day the options are not in that order. To practise honestly, cover the options and write your own answer first, or ask someone to reorder them. If you always know the answer is A, the paper stops testing you.
How should you practise with IMAT past papers?
- Diagnostic: take the 2026 paper untimed in week one to find your weak sections.
- Topic sets: use older papers by section. A biology question from 2015 still trains a biology topic if that topic is on the current Allegato A.
- Full mocks: keep the 2024, 2025 and 2026 papers, or a second sitting of them weeks later, for full timed runs of 100 minutes.
- Score officially: 1.5 per correct answer, minus 0.4 per wrong one.
- Log every error in the table below and schedule a review of that topic.

How do you calculate your IMAT score from a past paper?
Multiply your correct answers by 1.5 and subtract 0.4 for each wrong answer. Blanks score zero. For example, a practice result of 38 correct, 12 wrong and 10 blank gives 57 minus 4.8, which is 52.2 points out of 90. That example is an illustration, not a real candidate.
The scoring also tells you when to guess. With five options and no idea, a guess is worth about zero on average (a one-in-five chance of +1.5 against a four-in-five chance of minus 0.4). Once you can rule out even one option, a guess is worth about +0.08 points on average, and it rises as you rule out more. So skip pure guesses and answer whenever you can eliminate an option.
What should an IMAT error log contain?
An error log turns each wrong answer into a revision task. Record the question, the Allegato A topic, why you got it wrong, how long it took and what you will do next. Review the log every week, not just after mocks.

What can older IMAT papers not tell you?
- The current syllabus. Topics are set by each decree's Allegato A. Check any old question's topic against the current checklist.
- The current timing. The 2011 and 2012 papers had 80 questions, and papers before 2024 used different section splits.
- The cut-off. A practice score is not a forecast of admission. Places and competition change every year: see our IMAT cut-off guide.

English-taught programmes that can be tuition-free for eligible students, and the DSU grant landing in their account every year. The funding mechanics are identical at every Italian public university: the same ISEE Parificato, the same regional bando, the same ranking. Only the authority and the dates change.
They began right where you are
Now they're studying at Italian public universities, where a degree can be tuition-free for eligible students, with DSU scholarships of up to about €8,250 a year for students living away from home, depending on the region.
