Study in Italy Consultants in Delhi (2027/28): Embassy, VFS, Documents and Costs

Your documents from Delhi

For Delhi, MEA's list of authentication authorities names the Regional Directors of Education (South and East) at Vasant Vihar. That is the kind of stamp the Italian embassy wants: HRD authentication from the Department of Education of the state that issued your degree. The MEA apostille comes only after it.

At MEA, each apostille sticker costs ₹50, and the outsourced agency adds ₹84 per document plus ₹3 per scanned page. MEA no longer takes documents from individuals at its Patiala House counter, so every paper goes through an agency. These are documents only your family can obtain.

How do I get my degree attested in Delhi for Italy?

A Delhi degree is attested in two steps: Department of Education authentication, then an MEA apostille. The embassy's DoV checklist insists on the Department of Education stamp and refuses SDM stamps. Your family pays MEA ₹50 per apostille sticker plus ₹84 per document to its agency, and we set the order of every step.

The apostille must name two authorities. One is the officer who signed your degree or marksheet, such as the Registrar or Controller of Examinations. The other is the attesting authority, the Department of Education (HRD).

Delhi has a trap of its own. MEA's list authorises Delhi SDMs to pre-authenticate documents for every state, so SDM stamps are easy to get here. The Embassy of Italy still refuses them on study documents, and a degree stamped that way has to start again.

Is E-Sanad accepted for Delhi university documents?

Not for the Declaration of Value: the DoV checklist of the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi states that E-Sanad attestation will not be accepted. Mumbai's June 2026 DoV checklist accepts degrees apostilled online through E-Sanad, so this is a rule of the New Delhi embassy. Delhi families need the paper route instead.

There is one narrow exception. For a Class 12 certificate, a DigiLocker copy of the marksheet with an apostille can be accepted. That helps CBSE students applying for bachelor's programmes, not graduates applying for a master's.

Some universities accept a CIMEA statement in place of the DoV. VFS New Delhi will not take a study visa file without one of the two, unless the university says neither is needed. We confirm with each university which one it accepts before you order anything.

Your visa from Delhi

Which Italian office handles my visa if I live in Delhi?

The Embassy of Italy in New Delhi handles your study visa and your DoV if you live in Delhi. Its visa page lists nine states and territories in its area, from Punjab to Uttar Pradesh. Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata have their own consulates, and a Delhi address never goes to them.

Where is the Italy VFS centre in Delhi?

The Italy VFS centre for Delhi is on the 1st Floor, 27 K.G. Marg, New Delhi 110001, according to the Embassy of Italy's visa page. You file the study visa and the DoV there. VFS will not accept a study visa file without a DoV or CIMEA statement, unless your university explicitly does not require one.

Older guides, including earlier pages on this site, gave a Connaught Place address. The embassy's own page now lists K.G. Marg, and that is the one to follow.

The embassy charges €50 for a national study visa (about ₹5,460), and VFS New Delhi adds a service charge of ₹631. We book the appointment, prepare you for it and check the file before you go.

What does the embassy in New Delhi ask that other offices do not?

The New Delhi embassy asks for a few things other Italian offices in India do not. Its June 2025 study checklist accepts only parents as sponsors in India, where Mumbai's accepts relatives up to the 4th degree. Its DoV checklist also asks how your Indian institution is classified and, where unclear, how it grades.

The same June 2025 checklist asks for the sponsor's ITR-V for 3 years and health cover of at least €30,000 for the whole stay, with a repatriation clause. It asks for a return ticket, or enough funds when the return date is beyond the booking window. It also wants B2-level English certification when the course is taught in English.

One line in that checklist is out of date. It still prints the 2025/26 means figure of €6,947.33 a year, while the ministry circular for 2026/27 and 2027/28 sets €10,179.85. We plan every Delhi file on the current figure.

How much does it cost to study in Italy from Delhi?

A first year from Delhi costs from about €9,650 to €19,000 (about ₹10.5 lakh to ₹20.8 lakh), tuition and living included, on 2026/27 fees. The range uses fees from the universities' own rules and living costs the universities publish. A DSU scholarship can cut it sharply for eligible students.

Tuition here means fees for students whose family income is only in India. Each university sets its own amount, so the table shows four real examples.

The low end pairs University of Milan fees with Milan's lowest living costs. The high end pairs the full Politecnico di Milano fee with Milan's highest. Air India notes that its fares vary with season and demand.

Here is a worked example. A Delhi graduate starts a two-year master's at the University of Bologna, with family income only in India. The reduced fixed fee is €1,357.04.

A single room, groceries and a bus pass add €8,244 over 12 months, before utilities. SSN adds €700, the visa and permit €170, and the flight about €275. The first year comes to about €10,746 (about ₹11.74 lakh).

Separately, the visa file must show at least €10,179.85 a year (about ₹11.12 lakh) in funds. Tuition at public universities can be tuition-free for eligible students who win a regional DSU scholarship; our DSU scholarship guide and cost of studying in Italy page go further.

Scholarships and fee cuts for students from Delhi

For a Delhi family whose income is only in India, these are the fee cuts that apply in 2026/27. The region and the university decide each one; we prepare the application.

Are there direct flights from Delhi to Italy?

Yes: Air India flies non-stop from Delhi to Milan Malpensa, and its route page gives about 9 hours 35 minutes for the direct flight. ITA Airways flies non-stop from Delhi to Rome Fiumicino as AZ769, in about 8 hours 40 minutes. Both leave from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).

That matters on arrival. Milan and Rome together hold 88 of the English-taught programmes in our catalogue, so a student admitted there can land in the university city without a connection.

Where can I take IELTS, TOEFL, SAT or GRE in Delhi?

In Delhi, computer-delivered IELTS runs at Pitampura and Nehru Place, according to the official IELTS India booking site. For the SAT on 7 November 2026, College Board lists 2 centres in Delhi and 10 more across Gurugram, Sohna, Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. GRE and TOEFL iBT can also be taken at home.

The two SAT centres inside Delhi are the All India Institute of Local Self Government in Janakpuri and PP International School. The NCR list adds 4 in Gurugram and Sohna, 5 in Noida and Greater Noida, and 1 in Ghaziabad.

ETS runs the GRE General Test at home 24 hours a day, and at centres most days, with scores in 8 to 10 days. GMAC lets you choose an online or a test-centre GMAT.

Where to start: English-taught programmes by level in our catalogue

From IGI you can fly non-stop to both Milan and Rome, and those two cities hold 88 of the 500 English-taught programmes in our catalogue. We have no cleared data on what Delhi students choose, so the counts below are catalogue counts, not national totals.

By city, it lists 38 in Milan across three universities, 50 in Rome across three and 27 at the University of Bologna. Each programme page gives the official link and entry test.

A bachelor's needs 12 years of schooling, which Class 12 meets under the MUR circular for 2026/27 and 2027/28, and a master's needs a first-cycle degree. After graduating, a permit to look for work lasts from 9 to 12 months, according to the Ministry of Labour integration portal.

Do I need a consultant to study in Italy?

No: you can apply alone, and for a simple case with one or two programmes that can be the better choice. Uni-Italia's New Delhi office at the embassy also guides students, and the embassy accepts student DoV requests through it. A consultant earns its fee on harder files, such as a Delhi degree needing fresh attestation.

The options work differently. A commission-based agent is paid by universities for each student sent, and "free" agents are usually paid that way too. Applying alone costs no adviser fees but puts every rule on you.

How do I choose between study abroad consultants in Delhi?

Choose study abroad consultants in Delhi on evidence, not on a nearby office: ask who pays them, which universities they push and what they promise. A consultant who promises a visa fails the first test. Universitaly states that even a validated pre-enrolment does not ensure a visa appointment or a visa.

In Delhi the embassy, VFS, MEA and Uni-Italia are all inside the city, so being close to them adds little. What counts is knowing their rules. Put these ten questions to any consultant, including us.

Reality check

Three bodies decide what we cannot. The university decides admission, the region decides the DSU scholarship and the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi decides the visa.

What we control is the work: the shortlist, applications, Universitaly pre-enrolment, the DSU application and a visa file checked page by page. The family obtains attestations, apostilles and bank papers; we tell you exactly what to get and when.

The usual Delhi document mistakes, and what each one costs:

• An SDM stamp instead of the Department of Education stamp. The embassy refuses it, so the degree goes back for authentication and a new apostille: another ₹50 sticker and ₹84 agency charge per document, plus the time lost.
• An E-Sanad apostille used for the DoV. New Delhi does not accept it, so the paper route starts again from the Department of Education.
• Funds planned on the €6,947.33 still printed in the June 2025 checklist. The current figure is €10,179.85 a year, a gap of €3,232.52 (about ₹3.53 lakh).
• A sponsor other than a parent. The June 2025 New Delhi checklist accepts only parents as sponsors in India.
• Different names on the passport and the marksheet. Without an attested and apostilled one and the same certificate, the DoV stalls.
• A late file. With 90 working days at VFS New Delhi and a 31 October 2027 deadline, a late file can miss the start of classes.

Frequently asked questions

Can I submit my DoV through Uni-Italia in Delhi instead of VFS?

Yes, for study purposes: the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi says students may submit Declaration of Value requests through Uni-Italia, whose New Delhi office sits at the embassy's Istituto di Cultura gate in Chanakyapuri. The study visa itself still goes to VFS at K.G. Marg. We prepare the DoV file for either route.

Is a DigiLocker copy of my CBSE Class 12 marksheet enough for the DoV?

For Class 12, yes: the New Delhi embassy's DoV checklist accepts a DigiLocker copy of the marksheet with an apostille, plus two copies. Degree certificates and transcripts follow a stricter rule: originals with Department of Education authentication and an MEA apostille. Will the embassy accept an SDM stamp on my Delhi degree?

No: the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi refuses SDM stamps on study documents, even though MEA's list names Delhi SDMs as pre-authenticating authorities. Your degree needs the Department of Education stamp of the state that issued it, followed by the MEA apostille. We check every stamp before the file reaches VFS.

My name differs between my passport and my marksheet. What does the embassy accept?

The New Delhi DoV checklist accepts a letter from your Indian university, or a one and the same certificate from the Tehsildar or SDM where you live. Either one must be attested and apostilled, and it must state that the names match. We spot the mismatch early and tell you which document to get.

How long does the study visa take at VFS New Delhi?

VFS New Delhi gives the processing time for long-stay study visas as 90 working days. The 2027/28 visa deadline is 31 October 2027, so a file lodged close to it may come back after classes start. We plan the file so it can go in soon after your pre-enrolment is validated.

Who can sponsor my studies for a visa from the New Delhi embassy?

The embassy's June 2025 study checklist, still the one linked on the VFS New Delhi page, accepts only the applicant's parents as sponsors in India. It asks for their bank statements for 6 months and ITR-V for 3 years. Mumbai's 2026 checklist is wider, so its rules do not carry over to Delhi.

How much money must I show for an Italian study visa from Delhi?

You must show at least €10,179.85 a year (about ₹11.12 lakh), the amount set by the ministry circular for 2026/27 and 2027/28. The June 2025 New Delhi checklist still prints the older €6,947.33, which is now too low. We check your family's bank papers against the current amount before the appointment.

When should a Delhi student start for the 2027/28 intake?

Start now if you want a place in September or October 2027. The University of Padua's first 2027/28 call is already open, from 15 September to 15 November 2026. Attestation in Delhi, the apostille and the DoV all take time, so we run them alongside your university applications.

Do I have to visit Milan or an ApplyAZ office to work with you?
