School-leaving requirement
You need a foreign school-leaving qualification obtained after 12 years of schooling that gives access to university in the country that issued it, under the Ministry of University and Research rules for 2026/27. [1]
The course regulations also expect basic knowledge of chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology and logic, which the admission test checks. The call sets no minimum school grade. [1][2]
What this means for your school results
As a guide, based on the rule above:
- Usually a fit: an Indian Class 12 certificate from CBSE, CISCE or a state board after 12 years of schooling, a Pakistani HSSC, a Bangladeshi HSC, Sri Lankan or Cambridge A levels, or an IB diploma.
- Check carefully: a commerce or arts stream. It can meet the school rule, but the test and the first year build on chemistry, physics, maths and biology.
- Often short: a Class 10 certificate on its own, or any qualification after fewer than 12 years of schooling.
Admitted students who score below 15 on the test must also pass an extra test in biology, chemistry, physics and maths during the first year. [1][2]
English and Italian
English at B2 or higher, proven with a certificate from a body recognised by the University of Bologna, on its Language Centre's list, issued on or after 1 January 2022. You are exempt with: [1]
- an IB diploma;
- an IGCSE obtained in English;
- a school qualification where English is the language of instruction;
- proof of enrolment in a degree programme taught in English, with documents that clearly state English as the language of instruction.
Italian is not required to apply. You show adequate Italian by the end of the degree, and students who are not exempt take Italian learning activities in the study plan, including an Italian course for foreign students at B1. [1][2]
The CEnT-S admission test
- The CEnT-S (CISIA English Test, Sciences) has 55 questions in 110 minutes, with 1 point for a correct answer, minus 0.25 for a wrong one and zero for a blank. [3]
- For 2026/27, in-person CEnT@UNI tests from 2025 and 2026 counted, and non-EU applicants living abroad could also use the online CEnT@HOME test. Only your last valid test before each intake's deadline counts. [1]
- You had to take the test by 31 March 2026 for the first intake, or by 30 June 2026 for the second. [1]
- You need a normalised score of at least 5. Below 5 you are excluded, even if places remain. Rankings follow the score, with ties going to the younger candidate. [1]
Places
For 2026/27 there were 100 places: 60 for Italian, EU and equivalent applicants and 40 for non-EU citizens living abroad. The first intake offered 35 non-EU places and the second 5, plus any left unfilled. [1]
2026/27 deadlines
Non-EU applicants living abroad used the same windows as other applicants (Italian time): [1]
- First intake: applications from 2 March to 1:00 pm on 8 April 2026, ranking on 30 April 2026, enrolment by 7 May 2026.
- Second intake: applications from 9 April to 1:00 pm on 3 July 2026, ranking on 31 July 2026, enrolment by 25 August 2026.
- Extra intake: 4 to 11 September 2026, opened only for remaining places.
Each intake is separate, so applying to another intake means repeating the whole procedure. Eligible applicants without a place had to declare interest in reallocated places within a set window. The 2027/28 call sets the next dates. [1]
Documents and non-EU steps
- The application is made on Studenti Online and is complete only once the application fee is paid. Your personal details must match your CISIA registration exactly.
- You upload your English certificate, and a passport if you do not hold an Italian identity card.
- Non-EU applicants living abroad file a Universitaly pre-enrolment for this programme only, and must be admitted to it.
- Admitted students enrol by paying the first instalment by the deadline, or they lose the place, and must activate their career by 26 February 2027.

About the programme
Pharmacy is a five-year single-cycle degree (laurea magistrale a ciclo unico, a combined bachelor's and master's) in class LM-13 R, Pharmacy and industrial pharmacy. It is run by the Department of Pharmacy and Biotechnology (FaBiT) on the University of Bologna's Rimini campus, is worth 300 ECTS and is delivered entirely in English. Access is restricted through the CEnT-S test, with 100 places, and Andrea Milelli is the degree programme director.
The university says the degree educates students directly to work as pharmacists and to face the different settings of other European countries, combining scientific expertise with patient interaction across the pharmaceutical supply chain. It suits students with a strong interest in chemistry, biology and health who want a professional degree taught in English.

Teaching moves from the basic sciences, such as chemistry, biology, anatomy and human physiology, to medicinal chemistry, pharmacology, toxicology and pharmaceutical technology, with bioethics, first aid, digital health and pharmaceutical care alongside. How the programme is taught
The study plan includes a practical evaluation internship, open once you have at least 160 CFU. Because the degree qualifies you to practise as a pharmacist, the final exam includes a practical evaluation of the skills from this internship, followed by the discussion of a thesis written in English. [2] Students can also do internships at host institutions in other countries, join exchange programmes and carry out research for their final dissertation abroad.
Career paths
According to the university, graduates can work as pharmacists, act as healthcare education officers, dispense medicines and play a role in the public health service. The degree also opens jobs across the supply chain of drugs and health products.
Fees and scholarships
Pharmacy is in a higher fee band, and fees follow family income (ISEE). [4] With a family ISEE of €27,000 or less only the fixed annual charges apply, so this programme can be tuition-free for eligible students. Non-OECD citizens whose family income is only abroad, from countries like India, can opt for a reduced flat fee instead. ER.GO, the Emilia-Romagna right-to-study body, awards scholarships, and its winners pay only the fixed annual charges.

Selection uses the CEnT-S test, taken with CISIA. For 2026/27 the call set 40 of the 100 places for non-EU citizens living abroad: 35 in the first intake, which closed on 8 April 2026, and 5 in the second, which closed on 3 July 2026.
